    Agreed, we have to band together for solutions!

    That was a well thought out approach to solve an engineering design flaw that shouldn't exist in the first place.

    I'm not even a Fisker Ocean owner yet I feel sorry for all those owners that are left in the dark not knowing what to do.
    Glad to see Ocean 1 trying to make the best of things and educate the community.

    i know this is not a an investment video, but i wanted to point that in your previous videos you mentioned Cha p11 would be a better option for the owners than Chap 7 and that seems to be where we are heading to with fisker, just wanted to point out after a long time finally a news is more on the positive side than negative, lets hope a restructuring will happen and company survives

    I've been meaning to do an update on my emergency tool kit video. I have seen other people use the service lid for storing the tools. It's a pretty good idea. I recommend reusable zip ties to make it a lot easier. What's the model of the jump starter you are using?

    What you did will work but I think my approach would be to connect a SAE battery connector to the battery, feed the cable to the removable panel and then the battery could be boosted without opening the hood.

    • @Ocean1_FSR
      @Ocean1_FSR  2 місяці тому +1

      What are you assuming for a power supply? For example, mine is the jump pack stored under the hood.

  • @barbaraharnois5315

    I would use Velcro cable ties so if you don't have a blade on you you can still get at the tools

      I absolutely thought of that. I just didn't trust it enough. I actually put a lock blade utility knife in the front fascia along with one in the rear. It's a solid idea though 🤝👍

    Ive thought about rigging it with a latch like any other car. Looking for a solition to not have to unscrew the bolts . Maybe something that is 3d printed. Or even drilling a latch on the side of the hood like a jeep. Maybe mafnetic

    Rather than all this, I just ran some high gauge cables (suitable for jumping current) to a 50A quick connect plug that is accessible behind the bumper.
    So I can either connect a battery maintenance charger to the plug, or worst case if the battery is dead, a jump pack to it without ever opening the hood.

    • @Ocean1_FSR
      @Ocean1_FSR  2 місяці тому

      Where are you going to keep a jumper though? You have to assume this doesn't happen at home?

    •  2 місяці тому

      @@Ocean1_FSR can find anyone with a car nearby as a worst case scenario.

    • @Ocean1_FSR
      @Ocean1_FSR  2 місяці тому

      That's why I like my solution. I don't have to rely on finding some random stranger, looking for jumper cables, jump packs, tools...everything is accessible in a pinch even if I locked up my phone in the car or something. My point in my video is to be able to handle the situation without any help from someone else.

    •  2 місяці тому +1

      I guess if you combined our solutions you could save a load of work not having to open the hood. You’d just need to store the jump pack somewhere other than under the hood and plug it in.

    • @Ocean1_FSR
      @Ocean1_FSR  2 місяці тому

      Opening the hood isn't hard at all. Finding a place to store a jump pack isn't easy. I did consider storing the tools and jump pack in the rear where the tow hitch is. I just wasn't comfortable with it. I felt like where I put everything was the best solution. I did zip tie a folding lock back utility knife back there, lol. Just in case.

    So the trick is how to prevent a 12v failure. I am guessing that many owners still experience a failure of the HV battery to give the 12v its needed daily suckle. Or the systems are quickly draining the 12v and again there is a poor software managing the feed from HV to 12v.
    So far on 2.1 and even when I was on 2.0 my 12v has been working ok. But I need to monitor it by inserting a 12v reader / ODB scanner
    But like your thinking when it comes to getting access to the engine bay 👍😎

      Shame that Henrik did not forsee how to access the car in the event of a 12v/ electronic failure. Tunnel vision.
      All cars should have a physical key as a backup to at least get into the car.
      Oh well.......... we march on 🫡

    Do not mount lithium battery devices to a radiator, this is very bad advice... You should have a 12v line from the main battery, you can take the power from there.
