You make my day with this vid, I bought H80i v2, but it isn't enough for 5950x (what a surprise LOL) Though I have just two options, a custom loop or a cooler from IceGiant. Thanks to you I have a third one, can get a bigger, less dense radiator, put a few good fans on it and most importantly, move it outside the case. If it won't be enough it won't be any loss as I will be able to use the parts in a custom loop later. Thank you bro
@@CustomCarsComputers Thank you for a good advice, just starting with water cooling (haven't needed one on AMD A10 5800k), so every advice is valuable. Wish you everything the best.
It was meant for liquid cooling but with an external rad you have hose pass throughs on the back. Yes i know they are also intended for cables but just saying it was meant to have an older externally mounted rad and res on it.
You won't see too many hacks like this on UA-cam, which is a shame as they're basically an advance tutorial on water cooling. And now I'm thinking I should post a similar AIO hack I do. It's similar to this but a little smaller reservoir and maybe not as involved. You can buy reservoirs that fit a single 5.25" bay on AliExpress for cheap, which fills what is now unused space reserved for a DVD/CD ROM Bay. You install in it the top bay and splice it into an old AIO (or new). The benefit to this is it works on older computer cases and also looks good. Using the upper 5.25" bay will usually put it higher than the CPU and radiatior (on a vertical tower with radiator mounted to the front or back), which is what you want to avoid air bubbles from settling in the wrong place. The only downside to this is there is no seconary pump in the reservior. It's not necessary at all but getting the one and only pump primed is not easy. It takes a lot of tilting and tapping to get water flowing and bubbles out. Once it primes, it's smooth sailing.
Your videos are awesome. Thanks for showing how to retrofit a pump and reservoir to AIO watercoolers. I'm planning to upgrade my H100i v2 with reservoir while doing maintenance when warranty ends. Do you think running D5 and Asetek pump together would cause problems?
Probably would not be an issue if you have a large enough radiator and reservoir, you could just run the d5 and be ok without modification to the water block just make sure the flow is going the same direction for both pumps
@@CustomCarsComputers I have an AIO with an asetek pump on the cool plate head (like the corsair you used). I plan on using a d5 to run the entire loop and don't plan on using the asetek pump at all. Would you suggest removing the Asetek pump in this case so I don't restrict any flow?
I honestly did not even think about it, it worked great and the pc sat around 43c at all times even under full load, ill have a follow video soon going over having it for a year
For myself i Ran this AIO now for about 4 years. After this time i wanna Clean It. So i saw your Video and this Video but you should make a Work of Proof for this custom... Or would you kill your AIO for a custom try without a Happy ending. We want Proof of your great Work! 😎
@@Falki24 so i have 2 videos in the works, one showing this one working and how it jas held up over the last year and the next video will but taking a new aio and connecting it to a gpu water block with no reservoir, im just waiting on the waterblock to come in
The hoses are just on the radiator with a push on barb, sometime with a small ziptie or tape to hold them in place, just cut the take or ziptie and pull off. The cpu block is just a screw under the plastic that holds them in.
Looks like this reservoir has it's own pump, what did you do with the existing pump in the AIO unit? Did you remove it, or just leave it in there? If you left it, is it running?
@@CustomCarsComputers OK, cool. Good video, but I think this step was missed out perhaps, I think without doing this it might create a bit of restriction. Interesting that the RPM counter still works, though, even if you removed the pump part. I have the exact same cooler, and the tubes are far too long in my case, as it's a mini ITX build, and so your video has provided me some great information though! Thanks!
nice, i was thinking of doing this, nice to see someone already did it, so that I can save myself a headache

Yeah you can just get a bigger rad and expand your loop, just make sure to get all the air out and you will be fine

Hi, I would like know the accesories that you used with this mode, like tubing measures and all accesories measures
Could you post a link or the details of the tubing thickness and the compression sleeves/couplers that you used
Awesome video man. Thank you

Good Video! Thank you for posting! What size pipe did you use? Am going to do this to my PC!
What size of fittings for the aio tubes?

hi help
what if the pipe come out of the pump what should i do about it
I've always wondered why not a lot of PC modders use AIO's like this.
Good video mate. Just wondering what size barb you need for the corsair hose. I have the same aio that I want to chuck a larger rad on
most AIO's use 6mm(1/4) tube. the one in this vid uses 9mm. and the res uses 9.5mm(3/8) fittings
@@norkris8729 cheers mate. Let's hope the pump can push water through a 420mm rad
@@MrQwakstab 1x AIO pump?
@@norkris8729 yeah 🤤
@@MrQwakstab i have kinda tested this. One kraken x52 pump managed 3x 240 rads... Did not test temps
why no function test and temps after this :(

How do you remove hoses from radiator/cold plate on AIO like this?

what size tubing do you use for that?
3/8in hose
Where can I get this thing and is it compatible with h100 cooler
i got it from spartanliquidcooling.com/ and it can be made to work with any cooler, its just a matter of getting the right fittings

The pump died in the AIO thats what made me think to do this, I removed all the pump stuff from the water block to allow a good flow.
