I learn so much from these legends! In one hand, there are people expending tons of money on external computerized canister filters, bioballs, moving bed filters, advanced CO2 systems, UV lamps, all kinds of chemistry tests,... and then, you have this great man with a bucket full of sand and an air pump, not cleaning it for 10 years and breeding fishes without problem! Just because the most important thing is to change water as often as possible! So much to learn from them! Thank you very much Dustin for showing us their rooms, and of course, thanks to them for sharing their tanks and their knowledge!
Bravo Dustin! I love the look on your face when you are blown away! Wonderful that he has kept the malformed fish...they deserve to keep swimming too! Just wonderful!
I had so much fun the first time, I came to watch it again, 5:17 I too had the same issue with the water co and ammonia, it was the post RO DI stage that actually got rid of the ammonia, for me. 5:36 I think surface plants take up more nutrients cause they tend to get more air/co2 and light.
Really digging these legendary fishroom tours Dustin! Thanks for getting him to explain that water change system...might have to try and implement something similar one of these days. Keep the great vids coming bud....maybe you can keep travelling to these great fish rooms? (who knew there were so many out in Colorado?!)
.... Thanks, Dustin.... That was FUN!.... Healthy systems full of plants!... I also have several mal-formed fish in the "GreenRoom"...left-over from breeding projects.. They live healthy, they're just not so appealing.... My beliefs and practice keep me from culling anything that lives.. so they swim on..... Gratitude & Respect to Tory ...Appreciate you sharing .... Tank On!
That blue gallerias fish would really look nice under the right lighting. I always learn something just listening to these old timers talk oh and I'm an old timer too. Thanks Justin for sharing this video.
Nice! But I'd be interested to know the economics behind some of the elaborate set-ups you feature. What's his water bill like? Would that be considered a personal question if you asked these guys how much it costs them to run these rooms monthly or annually?
94110mission - Good question about the water bill. In California I'd probably be arrested for having a set up like this during a drought! But in most places there is no problem using water since it rains and snows all the damn time.
+94110mission where I live water is estimated as far as the size of your home, single family or multi family unit, not metered, which means your water bill stays the same.
Dustin, Glenn from Liverpool UK here. Could you do a video where you concentrate on the filtration systems in a large fish room please? Cheers mate. Tank On!
What was the name of the live bearers at about 10:30 again? I've always loved the idea of an arowana, but I don't have the space for a large fish. I would like to research them a little more to see if they are right for me.
For the pipe to work at 12:14, do you need to have it loop ALL they way to the bottom and below the tank? or can it only go down say half the tank since it highly unlikely that you'll empty the tank
What are the spawning mops, or how might they differ from a ball of moss? The silvers are also my favorite in his collection. He really should've had the glass cleaned before showing the place, but I love that jungle stream. That was fun, thanks for showing us.
Dustin, what does Tory mean by change the gravel bucket? Never heard of just changing a gravel bucket. I'm curious. I have a 30 gallon that I try to keep 25% water changes on and was curious if a gravel bucket would be a good fix for running a siphon. Maybe have Tory's contact?
I seem to be having trouble keeping plants in the tank with my placo. He's like a good long and always tears up the plants w his fins. Any suggestions?
Is Tory putting RO water in the tank or straight from the tap. I thought he said his tap water wasn't very good for keeping fish. Also if he is putting in tap water doesn't it have to be treated? Also water temp. Water from the tap is very cool. Doesn't it have to be the same temp as the tank?
Great tour. I'm a corydoras loving person so I wish he went more into detail on Cory Cat spawning as there isn't too much information out there. They look wonderful :)
Hmm, probably too late, but please tell me there's a how to guide on making that water overflow system? It looks like the bomb and really easy to set up properly.... I'm going to have to experiment if no one knows :)
Great video. I have always wondered about the auto water change system? Does it not end up ultimately filling a Tank with untreated water? Does such a small water change negate the need for water treatment? Clearly it works for him but I can't help but wonder. Thanks for sharing D!!
Yeah- So i wondered this too and asked him. He does RO so the water he uses is "treated" You can see the one shot of his closet where all the water is treated. However. I met another guy out there who doesn't treat the water as it only does like 10% so the chlorine is dissolved in the remaining 90%. Either way- its a PHAT setup
Dustin's Fish Tanks Have to check w/the local water supplier on their treatment methods. Chlorine will dissipate over time and 10% is okay. Chloramines however (used here in Norfolk, Va.) don't dissipate and remain toxic no matter how long it sits.
Hey great video :). But I have a question. I have three German blue rams and 2 of them are females and the other is well of course a male. But one of the two females is chasing the other female. The male is just a player and stays next to one from time to time. Why is the chasing occurring? Is it a shoe of dominance for the female to show that they are worthy of the male or no?.
A great video. That's what he keeps in his "fish room." I wonder what kind of tanks he keeps in the house (if the wife allows him) for viewing. Are we going to see Killies in the greenhouse? How many fish do you end up with after these trips? Fish On!!
Actually no fish- Keeping fish in the GH is kinda a pain- the temps swing a bit too much for the fish- plants can handle it, but fish you have to worry about with big water changes. That said- in last weeks video- I would have liked to have grabbed some emerald rainbow babies from Bob G ;)
I hate watching these videos, as it make me want more tanks that I can't have. Well, actually I enjoy them, maybe jealous is a better word. Great to see you coming from my home town. If I still lived there, I would be begging these guys to let me in and look around.
I was really fortunate to go out to Colorado to speak for two of their clubs. The people out there rolled out the carpet for me. It was tight. I have three more sweet rooms to show too!
Anyone have any experience buying an aquarium from Craigslist? Trying to tell if this is a good deal or not losangeles.craigslist.org/lac/for/4933622125.html

I was genuinely blown away at how good the rooms were in Colorado....I had no clue.....thanks man. They were fun in person too! (more coming!)
Dustin's Fish Tanks What happens in Colorado, Stays in your system for 30 days, He he.
.... Thanks, Dustin.... That was FUN!.... Healthy systems full of plants!... I also have several mal-formed fish in the "GreenRoom"...left-over from breeding projects.. Rock on bro. Yeah- This dude's place was insane...It would be tough for me to cull as well....unless they were way funky. Glad you liked the video
That blue gallerias fish would really look nice under the right lighting. I always learn something just listening to these old timers talk oh and I'm an old timer too. Thanks Justin for sharing this video.
for sure....just let them talk....and it's Dustin ;)
Reminds me of when I was younger and had aquariums all over the place. Now I just keep 3 and a 40 gallon nano reef, downsized from a 200 gallon.
Those Angels, those corys...THAT HOODIE!!! Ooooh yeah!!! Brilliant stuff Dustin, thank you!
Kirkwood what?!?! (best day of my shredding life at that place)
Heading there later this year!! Cannot wait buddy!!
Thanks man great job. I could sit and watch a tank of baby angel fish all day
Loving these fish room tour's D! Keep them coming!!
Good job! Always nice to see fishroom videos.
Such great knowledge, thanks for passing this on!

It's been a while since I checked a video out but this dudes room or lair is insane!

Thanks for sharing another awesome video

This is just an amazing idea for a video series.
Awesome fish room tour, thanks for sharing=)
Awesome job Dustin
Wow this "overflow" system of his is awesome exactly how I need my damn overflow to be! Great video :)
One of best videos totally enjoyed it.
Dustin, what does Tory mean by change the gravel bucket? Never heard of just changing a gravel bucket. I'm curious. I have a 30 gallon that I try to keep 25% water changes on and was curious if a gravel bucket would be a good fix for running a siphon. Maybe have Tory's contact?
you are looking good and show there keep up great job there
Wow this video makes me want to buy a new tank with a bunch of angels. He has an awesome fish room
This has inspired me to get serious with my water change setup in the Greenhouse for sure! Looks so easy!
Dustin, I have angelfish that eat my wisteria, and all other plants to spindles! What could I plant that they won't devour! ??
the water change system on the last tank, how would you build it?
Great vid keep the fish rooms comin
very nice tour
I seem to be having trouble keeping plants in the tank with my placo. He's like a good long and always tears up the plants w his fins. Any suggestions?
Whats the name of the fish at 7:07? Didnt catch it.
I am not certain what was said, but Blue Gularis is Fundulopanchax sjostedti
What is the yarn like brown stuff he has in some of the tanks?
how many of these tanks that you've seen in all the fish rooms have individual filters? it seems like most are running off of central air filters.
Is Tory putting RO water in the tank or straight from the tap. I thought he said his tap water wasn't very good for keeping fish. Also if he is putting in tap water doesn't it have to be treated? Also water temp. Water from the tap is very cool. Doesn't it have to be the same temp as the tank?

heavy feeding hard slam on the cold water....Look at how fat his white ones are he has
Dustin i need some tips pls. Why is my baby fry dying when im taking care of them the right way??
Hmm, probably too late, but please tell me there's a how to guide on making that water overflow system? It looks like the bomb and really easy to set up properly.... I'm going to have to experiment if no one knows :)
Is there a good way to get ahold of tory to perches fish from him? Thanks love all the vids
Great video. I have always wondered about the auto water change system? Does it not end up ultimately filling a Tank with untreated water?
Does such a small water change negate the need for water treatment? Clearly it works for him but I can't help but wonder. Thanks for sharing D!!
He uses an RO system, so I'm pretty sure that it takes out the chlorine or whatever they use to treat the water.
Oh hell yea. That's the dream right. To be a self sustained happy older gentleman surrounded by things you love. Lucky guy for sure.
Dustin's Fish Tanks Have to check w/the local water supplier on their treatment methods. Chlorine will dissipate over time and 10% is okay. Chloramines however (used here in Norfolk, Va.) don't dissipate and remain toxic no matter how long it sits.
Awesome news video, thanks

Love this video!!!

Can someone tell me the name of the fish shown at 6:50?
What does he do with all the fry? Does he sell them?
Does anyone know what the main plant is @ 13:48
Wow! That is one awesome fish room! Lots of angelfish and killifish. I love angelfish :) What is your opinion on killifish?
I have only kept them once and they were phat- I hear they only live a short while.
Is there a way i can get in touch with Troy id like to get some of those red tip Honduras
I hate watching these videos, as it make me want more tanks that I can't have. Well, actually I enjoy them, maybe jealous is a better word. Great to see you coming from my home town. If I still lived there, I would be begging these guys to let me in and look around.
