About Rig Tour:
How do your favorite artists sound so good? Check it out with Jackson as we interview some well known-artists about their rig set ups.
About Jackson:
Jackson began back in the late 1970s, when heavy music experienced a flamboyant and virtuosic resurgence in popularity and a small Southern California guitar repair shop became the epicenter of a new level of shred-approved excellence. Ever since then, Jackson guitars have been universally lauded as the metal guitars; the shred machines-highly original high-performance instruments of distinctive style and formidable substance. From metal’s chart-topping peaks to its darkest recesses, for discerning guitarists all over the globe, Jackson is the only way to go.

Machine Head's Phil Demmel | Rig Tour | Jackson Guitars
/ jacksonguitarsusa
i love that he uses mostly gear either as a tribute to someone or they're signature stuff. its refreshing to have a great guitarist use what normal players use
i met him at a guitar store while he was doing a jackson workshop tour and hes such a cool down to earth guy!
the coolest man alive. no doubt
"Nobody uses tone controls in metal." SOOOOO true ^^ !
Pretty straight forward rig, the way it should be for metal. Thanx for sharing! Phil Demmel rulz!
I really like his rig setup.pretty simple but uses good equipment to get a good sound.
nice clean on the 6505? IN WHAT UNIVERSE?
his schenker tribute is oppisite of rudolf and michael's gutar color scheme
he said buddy rich instead of buddy guy
very humble person. thank you
I love his setup even though I am a guitar into the amp type player. I love his tribute guitars too...especially the polka dot V.
We need an updated run down. Saw M H last night and they are running everything to the board. either kemper or fractal probably. brutal show, right ear is still ringing
New fan of Phil here, he rips man! Cool dood
Phil is the best! Personally a really great guy
We here in Sanctuary respect phil... Brilliant musician and he doesn't have a rig complicated as hell.. Down to earth guy and has fantastic taste in instruments which is why I actually own one of his signature Jackson models
You know this band is heavy metal at its best and Phil is so just down to earth and cool person. I am going to get the PDX version, have kids and can't afford the 1250 version. Going to start a christian metal band when iget home form Iraq.
Doing a 500 word essay on him, its taken me like a week cause I end up just sitting here watching these videos and listening to Machine Head all night
In all my guitars, the tone knob has been bypassed (wide ass open) and in place I use a rotary kill switch. Very cool. I can get that studdering, machinegun sound without using the pickup selector. And when you want it quiet, it's off immediatly. Rock on Machine Head!
what a legend!
The Polka Dot Randy inspired Demmelition is going to be availible soon. They are releasing it as an import very shortly.
EMG and Peavey. my dream rig at it's core.
Yes, we all knew what he meant. Congratulations.
i like this guy.
yall can kiss off Phil Demell is badass
I didnt expect the Zack Wylde wah pedal to have something from a drummer
Yeah, when he talked about the Cry Baby. A Wylde wah in a Buddy "Rich" polka dot style. It's a Buddy Guy polka dot design. Buddy Rich was a famous drummer from the fifties.
Hell yeah!!! No one uses the tone knobs for metal guitars!! I 100% agree with Phil.
Totally disconnected the tone knobs on my 3 Washburn MGs!!
I am so jelly of the polka dotted V. Randy is my favorite guitarist of all time and i love Phil's signature V. even though i don't listen to Machinehead, their Iron Maiden "Hallowed be thy Name" cover was kick ass; easily the best cover.
man if i had all of that crap i would be amazing at playing guitar, cant wait to get my demmelition jackson. I absolutly love machine head!!!!
@DarkLordNagash
Of course, he's a pick bassist. Kerry uses his tone in conjunction with his booster and Jeff uses his controls to give him a thicker sound.
He had two of the Rhoads tribute guitars made. He's got one and another guy from Dublin that he grew up with. I keep buggin him that I want one but its not workin yet! Phil is an awsome dude and very down to earth. just another one of us from Dublin Ca, and knows where his roots and friends are. Dublin has produced some great names in the business and Phil has done us proud. But I still want one of those fucking Rhoads axes bro!!! You know who this is...
Awesome to see how he is just this cool guy, he keeps his feet on the ground, instead of thinking he's god. Fucking great guy!
"nobody uses tone controls in metal"
totally true the only thing the tone knob does to my is annoying me when it's not fully turned open
fair enough, that Schenker axe looks badass! where can i buy that shit?
Get your Marshalls back dude, those Peavey's turn muddy and shit
@werbnnerf he said no on uses tone controls in metal. he's talking about the tone controls on his guitars. most metal guitarists don't use the tone controls on their guitars. tone comes from your hands mostly and your amp for the rest of your tone.
seems like a sick guy
hes a nice guy
ill always remember you as Phil Demmel from VIO-LENCE
no dislikes. that's how it should be... \m/
Can someone explain the green channel for distortion if he doesn’t use and distortion pedals? The Zakk overdrive is not heavy enough for that tone. Is the 6505 green that insane?
In my (little) experience I know they do help to keep your picking arm from sticking to the guitar's finish, especially glossy finishes.
getn phat phil
Damn my favorite guitar is the febreeze
I just got two pedals so far. He's got both of em ^^
man..you're right...just noticed it.
This guy looks similar like Tom Araya.
@JerkyChid Slayer have tone knobs on their guitars but they don't use them ! Tom Araya explains their playing style as "I only have one knob on my actual bass and it turns everything to ten", and I doubt Kerry King and Jeff Hanneman give a damn about their tone knob ^^
Buddy Rich? Really?
Surprisingly super low mids on his amp. I think he, and a lead guitarist, has em at a 2??? Nuts. I'd understand that EQ in the studio, but Live?
DEMMELS MIX UP IS HE CALLS THE BUDDY GUY WAH A BUDDY RITCH!
@DarkLordNagash
Yes, per song. Then change it when the next song requires it.
A non-trem demmelition model would be really sick.
They need to release a v with that slmg headstock.
If only all Jackson USA's had that natural maple neck. It would be ill if they sold that Rhoads King V as one of Jackson's high-end models. They could make a profit out of that. Anyway... PHIL, YOU HAVE A SICK RIG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Tones important no doubt about it
@MrAGG777 Haha! I caught that too, but was unsure. I thought there was someone else who I didn't know about.
Phil is fucking Awesome :D
how do u use the fuzz , what songs, and can u show
@FsTsMetal The only band that comes to mind is Arch Enemy. But only in the studio.
@1jack369 Maybe... Who knows
@megadeth628 That's right, they do. Thanks for reminding me. :)
@aridahl LOL, his original guitar had no toggle switch nor a tone knob.
@fridogg thats so cold xD
@guitaraddiction7 He said it's the zakk wylde wah pedal he just put the buddy guy casing on it cause he said he likes it for the rhoads :]
Actualy dude your'e right! I am a huge fan of Phil Demmel. He's one of my biggest influences on guitar. The tone control in metal especialy is pretty much useless. When playing metal, your'e not going to need a big variety of tones or sounds. Just a good rythym sound, a good solo sound if your a lead player, then a good clean sound with some effect thrown on it. If you play more blues or jazz styles, it may be of great use to you. Backing off the tone will give a muddy sound in metal.
@DarkLordNagash
But you agreed with the statement that no one uses tone controls in metal
@RideTheLightning1995 ok I found this....Voodoo Lab GCX Audio Switcher
you pair this up with the Foot controls and you can conrtol midi and non midi devices
Yeah i know.
0:37
did everyone just hear the master ?
this is so right xD
jackson should make the Randy Rhoads one
That Schenker looks like a Dean VMNT a whole lot
Woops, saw this has been discussed already.
I've spent too much time trying to google info about it... nothing :( its so sick
@fridogg lol that was cruel man :D
I think he means buddy guy
buddy rich is the jazz drummer
this looks green scened
another rig tour? jeez, i hope they're paying you good money for this buddy ;) How about some Vio-lence tunes? i wana see some blood at a show
@000acr000 Are you implying that Phil Demmel isnt good? Because if a piece of dandruff fell off his head. I would be honored to see it.
@DarkLordNagash
and yet I have quite a few times
The floods intro is the volume not tone control! The tone is all the way up.and he used the volume knob to turn down and than up!
Phil's got a point, I NEVER use my tone control.
His.
'Scuse me, what are you doing here?
@FrttMs Yeah, that's what I thought. Honest mistake I guess. =)
I can't reply to the guy who said "6505 good clean? in what universe???" because youtube is weird. But you just gotta remember... this is Machine Head. Clean is not really all that CLEAN lol. It's effect-ridden and there's still a subtle crunch. Machine Head with an actual clean sound just wouldn't be right.
Josh Brolin?!
how many pedals does this guy have?
@JerkyChid never seen any of them touching a single knob during a live performance yet ^^
no tubescreamer?
yea, i guess it would be!!! ha
@TheMetalhead804 short way of saying jealous... i was feeling tired when i wrote that.
@MrAGG777 yeah eh haha, think he means buddy guy
@JacksonKV2FTW
I see. Well okay
A Boss GT-10 Could do all of his pedal needs.....
@JerkyChid Anyway it's not that important to me... I was happy to have a tone knob on my axe until I realized I never used it, now I have another guitar without a tone knob and I prefer it that way
Do the wrist bands give you an advantage?
degrande707 ....cmon, we all know it was you with the jizz on you backstage.
@FrttMs i caught it buddy rich = drummer
Phil Demmel looks like Ron Perlman
@JerkyChid I never said that...
@RideTheLightning1995 this I also want to know
