Agreed, good point. Everyone starts out as a a liberal democrat in their youth (mom/dad why doesn’t the gov’t just give everyone a million dollars and everyone will be happy). Then the parent, education, and real life take root and people understand how the world works. It makes sense that the fact that if only voters of 45+ voted in the past couple elections, ALL 50 states would be Republican. To restate, if only those 45 and older were allowed to vote, every single state would be 100% republican. To put in perspective, think of when you were 10 years younger, are you smarter/wiser now or then? Would you rather make decisions with your current knowledge or that of your younger self?

100% and I think the young married mom was a wonderful representative of that exact point. She's not that much older, but her life experience gives her a decade's worth more practical knowledge of the world.

@@Trail_Cairn I kind of agree, to a point. I don't think they start out liberal at all. The family system is a cross between an autocracy and socialism. Everything being given to them they need, but the parents being the king or queen. As far as them growing up to be Republican, if that was true, we all would be now. But our experiences do have an effect on where we are. I was a Republican, but 100% disagree with Trump who I do not in any way see him as a conservative in any way. So, I guess it depends on your definition of Republican to start with. Of course I would rather make serious decisions now than when I was young. When I was younger, I voted more with a hive mind mentality. Now I look and want the best solutions for the whole country, not a single subset of the citizens only. I see the whole picture of our place in the world as well as in the country. When I was younger, I saw only where I was.

The reason is because they hire media trained conservatives, conservatives from think tanks and special interests groups, and online conservative personalities who know how to derail conversations and try to evoke anger. The people, mostly conservatives, that they invite are not there to change their minds. They are making money from their views. That’s not to say the liberals they invite don’t have those, but once you learn about the real way in which America operates and combined with Jubilee casting choices, it’s very clear why the conversations in their videos keep getting derailed.

No it’s not. Statistics are showing is women are on antidepressants more now than they were before. Women can’t have the families they want because it’s expensive and they can’t afford to either be at home if they want or even with two incomes it’s hard to afford kids.
There’s a difference between acknowledging faults of each generation or acknowledging that maybe a common opinion was incorrect but it’s baseless to say women in the 50s weren’t happy because I have met plenty of old women who were happy back in the 50s. The boomers weren’t even adults in the 50s and they became adults in the late 60s and 70s and they are worse off than the previous generation who parented

The notion that women should not work at all and should have children, the notion that abortion is bad, the notion that you must marry someone who is the opposite gender, the notion that you must instil Christian beliefs, etc. ALL I stand for is the choice to decide whether you WANT those, because it's great to want those things, but I absolutely, fully agree that it should be perfectly accepted to do the absolute opposite.

Trump supporter here. If you paint conservatives with such a false and limited point of view of course you will continue thinking that. I personally think that it is fine for a woman to work and a man to stay at home, or the reverse. And if a woman doesn't want to have children that is her choice. Actually I think that could be good because we already have too many people. I am agnostic and have been for gay marriage since the 1990s. OK maybe I am a bit more progressive than the average Trump supporter, but I don't know many conservatives who actually think the woman should not work. That is very backward. What I don't like about liberals, is that they paint conservatives in easily critical caracatures which are largely based on ignorance, like you are doing.

When most people in your society are conforming to those restrictive norms, most will prosper and feel fulfilled and happy. We've seen what about 1 century of continuous liberal progress has done and society is crumbling. No one believes in the system anymore because they see no benefit. Mental illness, childlessness, and social trust are worse than many Americans thought possible. There's the end result of a free society for a hedonistic species like the human.
I don't care at all about freedom. The goal is to have a good society. Some freedoms will be conducive to that outcome and others need to be kept on a short leash for the greater good.

Let me be clear I am not taking away from the fact that this was a good debate and many important points were made on all three sides. The taking care of a kid, the financial issue, everything, and even addressing the rampant STD issue that is rising in the US due to casual sex. I think fully informing the next generation is the true way to prevent unwanted pregnancies. Knowing that playing “hide the zucchini” can lead to a rough patch in life would stop a lot of people from making reckless decisions.

America does spend the most on America directly but second has been Ukraine. Additionally it’s not “giving money.” For Israel it’s specifically funds going to military equipment and defense only, they can’t use it for anything else and it’s stipulated they must buy from American companies, and work together to take out America's top enemies (which Israel has been doing, they have been killing America's top bad guys that killed Americans!), and America makes a huge amount of money and security back on it. This is a loan and an investment, with the goal being American security as this poor smart young guy whose uncle died from 9/11 understands- the danger of radical jihadism/Islamism is not a joke. This is fact and not opinion. Opinion is continue to aid or not. Grey suit guy I think understands this situation very well. Yep! Not to mention, the nuclear traditional family is not a Christian concept… The one kid on the right who felt Republicans were preaching cannot distinguish people sharing statistics versus “you should live your life like”… Back to the point, marriage as a concept goes back at least 4,000 years to Mesopotamia, long before most religions today… However, as I recall, not much is known about the social norms around marriage at that time.. However, in more recent years the Chinese, Incas, and Ottomans set the foundation for marriage, as generally practiced around the world, today as being one of monogamy; granted, there were many exceptions for Royals and wealthy men who could have multiple wives, but that is a different matter… Point is, marriage, like many of our social norms in the US and Europe, is actually very close to that practiced in most of Asia and, to a lessor extent, the Middle East… While it is not easy to do, everyone should live outside of the US for a while, or at least travel international, so that they can gain a matter of perspective and understanding… Not to knock idealists, and while I do strive for progress as a society, most liberal idealists have never loved outside the US, have no idea how they would/could have survived in previous times (pragmatically speaking), nor how much progress we have made as a society comparatively… However, they criticize the leaders of prior eras, are ignorant of most of our history as a society, yet want to judge others, tell others which words are acceptable n society today, and essentially dictate our policies as a society…

Sam in the grey suit was best able to defend his positions with history and fact rather than just talking appoints and opinions. I was sad to hear his uncle died from 9/11. Like, the woman in the plaid jacket - I totally understand that you want a peaceful life with family on a farm. Hey, I would love that too! Barefoot, pregnant, and taken care of…but I’m still ambitious and I believe I should have that right to pursue my dreams freely, and earn my own money, independent of my husband. Every woman should be able to do that - it’s the definition of feminism, actually. The difference is that I’m not telling you how to live your life, whereas I feel that’s what Republicans are trying to do now with everyone else.

Unfortunately, having a designated group to align with is comforting for many, even if it means sacrificing a given amount of individuality in exchange. As was demonstrated here, the person who was clearly the most meek and hesitant to speak her mind was Katie. Being that she is unaffiliated, she is most likely to receive scrutiny from all sides as opposed to having at least a group of her own to validate her opinions. Also I'm probably burying the lead; people just naturally tend to align themselves with whatever political party or lack thereof their parents aligned with when they were raising them, just like with religion, diet, music taste, sense of humor, etc

This was a very interesting video! I have friends of both political leanings. I can debate with the republicans. I have to watch what I say with the democrats. This is my experience.
To the woman on the fence with the death penalty, yay you for talking about it 💪🏻! I understand your feelings.
To the woman who hates being forced to be a professional success, I understand your feelings! I’m that 1st generation of you have to be a success and an outstanding wife and mother.
I eventually chose poverty to be at home with my children.
While still needing to supply my portion of the household income I gave up.

Watching this kind of thing from Taiwan, where I've lived for many years (though I'm American), it always feels like the most important aspect of this election is misunderstood widely back home: Trump has repeatedly indicated that he is open to ceding the defense of Taiwan and by implication our Asian treaty allies, which would likely unravel the rest of our allegiances and, in the end, the sustainability of our economic system. I really don't blame anyone back in the US for not having this on the forefront of their minds, but it is more important than everything they are talking about.

On that specifically, Trump has been clear that he doesn't care about allies. He feels attacked by them while he also defends dictators that talk to him softly and compliment him. He is easily manipulated. I couldnt ask for a better president... if I was Russia or China. Really making sure we get ahead of the US. The division he causes is also a bonus.

It would be so coo to check in with these people after about ten years of life experience. Particularly the woman who claims to be strapped into corporate life by an overly-individualistic society. I’m married with two kids and rely on my husband’s income to feed our family; we homestead and all. I can’t imagine and don’t wish to impose this structure across the board-I can assure her it’s slightly harder than being a single woman with a full-time job and benefits. I’m only able to watch a video like this and post (my first ever) UA-cam comments because my husband is on a lunch break. She is clearly fresh off a difficult few years and seems especially defensive. I’d be curious to speak with her. She invokes the ‘50s, a time when there were fewer people in the country competing over more resources whose immediate and extended families lived nearby to help raise kids. My grandmother, Catholic, had ten children and struggled greatly, even with the help of her family. Today, you’ll need more than just robot compassion to turn on and off in order to foster relationships with your neighbors who you will rely on to help you and who will most likely mention the word abortion at some point, possibly not in the connotation she prefers. Anyway. Good luck to her.
As far as the policy talk goes…there’s a new movement across the country’s institutions and businesses that are leaving DEI policies behind due to utter lack of return, maintaining or implementing only the ones that show improvement in positive outcomes ie in consumer base and workplace culture. These Republicans sound like much of the right wing internet that has come to rely on “woke” outrage to fuel their fire. Most of the country is ready to move forward.
The majority of the founding fathers (versus signers) were in fact not religious and cite the use of the word God with the most calculated intention, certainly not with the idea to impose a universal demagoguery. Religious freedom etc. Where’s our libertarian?
