I'm not sure people are "forgetting" there will be a season 3 as much as they're simply judging season 2 based on what it was. If the argument is that season 3 is so necessary to make season 2 make sense, then season 2 absolutely deserves to be looked at in a less than favorable way. And this wouldn't be the first time this has happened in film or television either.

The storyline keeps me on the edge of my seat. My explanation for people that call it "Squid Games" simply don't pay attention to little details when they're reading, and because the game itself consists of multiple games.
Yeah I thought the same thing it’s squid games cause squids have multiple tentacles and there’s multiple games so it just makes sense. Don’t know why people couldn’t get it

After having watched the full season and now having the benefit of retrospect, I actually liked the first two episodes more than what the rest of the season had to offer. That feeling of constant disappointment expecting the show to "pick up" was just too prevalent for me. Seong Gi-hun hiring a team to track down The Recruiter was interesting to me because it showed how committed he was to the tall task of taking the games down, even from the outside. Speaking of The Recruiter, we learned more about him in the first two episodes of this season than we did during the entirety of season 1, which was a welcomed plot point. Especially when you consider how important of a character he really is.
If the game is an analogy of how power mutates free will, the game is going to continue. Because that’s how the real world works. The powerful will always be powerful and the rest of us either bought into the system to try to survive, step outside of it and be slowly beaten down by the system, or die.
Just finished the season in one sitting. It 100% exceeded my expectations, and I’d even go so far as to say this is better than the first one. Kudos to Director Hwang for delivering another masterful season under what must have been immense pressure following the groundbreaking success of the first season. While it opts for a more subdued spectacle compared to its predecessor, it compensates with deeply layered imagery of social and political justice intertwined with the psychological complexities of human nature. It masterfully depicts the blurry boundary between right and wrong, revealing the fragility of human morality under the weight of survival, where selflessness quickly unravels when life and death are at stake. It elevates its critique of modern systems, dissecting how democracy, often seen as a beacon of fairness and justice, can serve as a vehicle for the unchecked greed of capitalism. Viewers are forced to confront uncomfortable truths about the ways these systems perpetuate inequality under the guise of equity. The series lays bare the hypocrisy of a modern democratic system under capitalism, showing how what is advertised as “fair and just” is nothing more than a façade. It shows how the system, under the hood, can provoke its participants, pitting them against each other to fight for survival rather than allowing them to confront the higher powers orchestrating their suffering. It shows insidious ways democratic ideals can be weaponized to maintain control and serve those at the top. Gi-hun’s attempt to overthrow the system and save its victims spirals into yet another tragedy, showing that his coup, though well-intentioned, may not be the answer. The show poignantly reveals how even efforts to dismantle corruption can come at the cost of the very people they aim to save. It lays bare the darker side of heroism and prophecy, showing how they can lead to yet another cycle of tragedy and disillusionment.
Season 3 is clearly gonna be a direct continuation to Season 2 but I honestly hate that cause season 2 is such a cliffhanger. They should’ve just made it volume 1 and then season 3 would be volume 2 of season 2, so at least Season 2 doesn’t feel incomplete and kind of wasteful with some plots

Honestly this season felt fake and kind of goofy at times. The first season felt very serious to me, and no forced humor. Then the second season came and had lots of stupid jokes throughout. The characters were extremely stupid and just didn’t make sense. My biggest complaint is the race track game where after completing a task the 5 characters would all take a few seconds to cheer, and the background audience would cheer for the competitors, but then complain about how not enough people died later on, very contradictory. And made the stakes feel like they weren’t life or death. This season just felt super unserious and I honestly didn’t like it because of that
Season 1 had real contestants. The purpose of the games was to exploit the poor. It was suspenseful and had a horror-like theme. So why invite social media influencers, youtubers and a random trans person who's there to pay for their surgeries... Really? They basically turned season 2 into a netflix "Mr Beast" rendition. It was all a joke.

I mean, we'll see after season 3 drops because theyve ended on a cliffhanger that was just too abrupt in my opinion. The shock factor is there though. Episode 3 specifically. 001. That reveal might not be much to some but it definite was a shocking reveal for me. The side characters were not as good as the first as well. T.O.P's character "thanos" wasnt a convincing antagonist enough simply because who was just too annoying at times. I felt like they were trying to have another deok-su but didnt work. The games does completely stop in in-ho (front man) gets dies in the hands of Gi-hun and detective Hwang. Or 2. Detective hwang dies for real this time in the hands of his own brother in-ho and gi-hun kills him after. And the game stops.

The music and attitudes of everyone took away from the seriousness of the games
Thanos was the mvp of this season
He ruined the games for me. Season 1 had real contestants. The purpose of the games was to exploit the poor. It was suspenseful and had a horror-like theme. So why invite social media influencers, youtubers and a random trans person who's there to pay for their surgeries... Really? They basically turned season 2 into a netflix Mr Beast rendition.
Nice hat
Season 3 is definitely a part 2.
This season was A bunch of garbage
I thought episode 1 was great the games with the suit guy was so fun episode 2 was boring a bit
It was to childish at times in my opinion
How so the first season had kids games too
@ what
@@Lime0378 why did you think this season was childish
So much time spent on lame side characters that died anyway, couldn’t stand the rapper guy, not even in a good bad guy you love to hate way the character was just so cheesy like the shaman lady. Even the trans thing was weirdly forced, so many archetypes and the weird flow in the story lines sucked. Along with how obvious it was the fishing guy is bad. Both main characters of This story have been so stupid and blind it is taking away a lot of good things
very nitpicky review 👎👎👎👎👎
@dx-dragon4399 no, review should be objective, not subjective which is nitpicky, you're nitpicky for sake of being nitpicky
