    Ill be totally honest, after seeing a few videos like this, I thought it was going to be a functional but very bad looking blasting cabinet. But wow was I wrong, considering all you were working with is an Angle Grinder, a Hammer and a Brazing Torch you have done an amazing job and made a cabinet that almost looks good enough to be shop brought! Its certainly made me think seriously about making my own instead of spending £350 - £500 on a shop brought one that probably wont be big enough for my needs.
    Thank you for making this video

    A great sandblaster cabinet. You need a vent and extractor fan now so you can see while blasting. Well done.

      I come from a "not priviliged" family of 5 children. My Dad was an industrial machinist/master welder, he fixed everything by himself, car, our bicycles, garden tools etc. He repurposed a broken, worn gizmo out of necessity all his life. I inherited the same curiosity and dexterity from him. As you say, I don't see a metal bar but a part for any future project. And yes, I hoard a lot of stuff miy neighbors just throw away. Countless toys, bikes, appliances that need only cleaning, a lil' paint and I bring regularely all this to a 1$ charity store nearby. Oh the smiles and bright eyes from the children !! : My pay.

    • @ianallen2
      @ianallen2 5 років тому +1

      @@marcryvon I keep hold of things in case one day it will come in handy. I dont hoard stuff as I dont have the room, but hate to throw things away as as soon as they are gone, it will be needed. Some things I can see a use for but I have to havesomething that needs fixing to vision something that will do the job. I learned car mechanics at 12 years old and self taught myself soldering, welding, still learning to pain with spray cans without getting runs and can make some wooden things I see once and I just have a go at making the same. Woodworking skills a bit better than metal working skills, but like you, its a live and learn process and learn from mistakes or slight alterations. :).

      "as soon as they are gone, it will be needed." Happened to me so many times ! After a much needed shop clean up - yeah, after the wife's comments - I need, say a piece of pipe, then I remember I threw it only days before. Damn fool !

    I was thinking about the bottom half of the blast box.... Another option is to use an old oven 600mm x 900mm Rangehood (guttered) and turned upside down. On top you could use a working 600mm x 600mm Rangehood. It could vent and the lights could be changed to a larger light bulb and your switchers are all in place. Often you can pick up these hoods for next to nothing second hand. Just an idea.....

    And Rebar, Car Doors, Plastic Buckets, certainly used whatever was onsite. Bit hairy with the mains light, no earth that I could see, only looked like a 2 pin plug.. Looks like it worked OK, wonder how long the glass will last before it goes opaque. Really needs a bit of replaceable celluloid sheet on the inside to protect the glass.
