Good and straight to the point. That knock at the start had me looking around to see who the hell was knocking on the wall! lol
Wow just removed the Greenworks trimmer head that was supposedly not removable! Using your method! Awesome. Now I just need to see if I can fit on one of those replacement universal heads. thanks
Thank you for this video. I dont know after how many searches I found what I needed. I had to take out the spool housing since s wire got entangled in it when I was using the trimmer. And it happened on the first day of use. Thanks for this video! Really really helpful.
This is what I have been searching during last 2 months on youtube😂, greets from Bali😊 thanks a lot
Glad you were able to find us!
Thank you from Indonesia 🇲🇨👍👍
Video super helpful: watched it step-by-step while DIY'ing new Spool Housing. Bought GH3000 Weed Eater by B+D in 2015, now it's working like new again. Great job!
Exactly what I needed to see.
Excellent video, simple direct and to the point, even I was able to follow it and have just replaced the spool housing!!🙂
Great to hear!
Right. I think I can do this.
Time to order.
Thanks!
Thanks for the video
I wasn't even sure I could replace the spool housing. Looks easy enough
You make it look so easy. Ty for the tutorial!
thanks much. i was really worried how my weed stool was dropping out but i now see why big help thanks man
I've done this job twice now. The spool housing must be a weak point, otherwise is a good machine.
By the way it is totally unnecessary (and a lot more work) to dismantle the motor housing. I was easily able to align the shaft to the gear with a little "finessing" from below. I also added some white lithium grease to the spool housing shaft - needed or not, I don't know...
The video was too late for me, but it's good that you made it.
Finally got the handle off. The trick is to insert the rod and pull up on the handle to keep the retainer down on that side. Then push the button on the other side until it clears the space
Thank you so much for your video! Very informative, it looks easy, but I don’t know if I’m going to be able to do it myself!
Bro thanks, it's hard to find video for this model, I was looking for this since a loooong long Time now it's fixed
Thank you!! This was exactly what I needed!
Glad it was helpful!
My spool housing's plastic part was separated from the metal shaft. Your video (3:50) shows you are holding the plastic part to undo the flexible cable. How can I remove the flexible cable with the plastic part not intact? Do I need some special tool?
Thank you for this video.
It is no way that easy to take off the adjustable handle! I feel like I wasted money buying that part from you guys!
I had to use 2 wrenches to unscrew the cable, because my spool housing was broken and separated from the cable.
Also having a problem removing the handle.
I have a 40v cordless black and decker trimmer. The spool housing is really loose from its base. Can I follow these same instructions to tighten or repair it?
Thank You
YIKES! MUST I do all THAT to unwind my twine from tightly around the spool holder housing???? HELP!!
Whew, that was a doozy; especially: when lining up the 2 halves and putting it back together. But, I finally got it.
Is there a trick to getting the handle off?
I used a thick coat hanger to push in the hole and only the handle side with the coat hanger inserted came loose. I put both feet on it on the floor on either side of the handle and mangled the handle off with that one side disconnected. I thought the handle might be damaged, but the plastic handle deformed enough to remove it on just one side disconnected and it seems intact. It was not easy. I figured if the handle or housing was damaged it might be trash anyway.
I bought a wire brush wheel to use on my weed eater and it is a black and decker weed eater. But I don't know how to attach it or if it can be attached. my yard is like a jungle. I am 71 years old and I need a strong weed eater to cut down the small trees, vines and the rest of the jungle down. does anyone know how I can put the wire brush wheel on my weed eater.
So my hubby got a wire caught under the housing. Is this the best way to get the wire out from under the housing??
can you tell me how to get the spool out of the cap. My line ran out, need to replace the spool but can't remove it from the cap.
Light weight, perfect for light weedeating
Please share the link from where can I get the spool
different model. still working on it
what about an older gx1100 with a wobbly shaft? I can't get the cable to unscrew.
Perfect 💯
Which bit did you use to take it apart?
Not that easy
My spool housing wouldn’t unscrew, it was like welded on to the shaft
😂😂😂
how did you get it off?
@@adebrettski Mine was kind of stuck and I used (2) 13mm open end wrenches on each side of the spool housing to break the threads loose. I had to push pretty hard to get it to move.
Ummm yeah, i’ll just buy a new Weedwhacker thanks. 😂
Thanks. I have this apart, but when turning the spool housing to unscrew it from the cable, the spool is hard to turn while I am clamping the cable in a vise. Basically the cable is not unscrewing. Any suggestions?
Experiencing the same issue. I think that’s why he took apart the upper end; the shaft goes all the way up
@@annmaes7550 I was trying to replace the spool mechanism with another brand that has great reviews. That necessitated unscrewing the head assembly. Ultimately I was not able to do this and returned the head. I followed another UA-cam video that showed how to disable the auto feed and only manually feed it. Still not a great solution, but better than the original design. BTW I saw another video that explained the reason for auto feed not working properly was the line size was too large.
@@SamuelG5 gotcha.
Your treatment of the housing screws at the start is criminal
