steve k. I have Michael’s Star Licks tape from back in the day, and he’d already got his “woah, dude, bro!” schtick down He’s said in later interviews that he realised early in his career that image, showmanship and persona is as important as chops He said “Think Jimmy Page and his violin bow! Hendrix setting fire to his Strat! Pete Townshend and his windmill” Even if you don’t know their names, you know their image, he said Likewise the whole up-and-over, twin guitar stuff. “No one can see you play that on a record, but live i believe you should rip their faces off and shred it up!”
Manager: Jim, you are the face of the band, act like a bad boy with a lot of bad attitude... Jim: but I like to be a good per... Manager: ... I'll cut your hair, MAB you just play something fast. (The rest is history)
O.F.R. is an outstanding album. So many unique styles. it may need some playtime to "get to you" but once it hits you're hooked. Machine Gunn Eddie is a masterpiece through and through played and sang by absolute masters of their arts.
Yes! For real! There's even footage of him with Nitro where he even looks as the Shout At The Devil Mick Mars era lmao. Both great guitarists for sure but there's no doubt MAB is the OG between them 😂
I remember seeing this live back when I was 10 years old. I love those old days of metal, it's just not the same now. No one has any attitude anymore. And if someone does, they get called a pompous asshole or something like that by the goofiest most characterless people who know nothing of showmanship. That's that 90's attitude that killed the fun and care-free attitude of the 80's.
I get called all sorts these days for wearing my hair long. It's a shame it's not appreciated the sane. Then they have the audacity to come out with fucking man buns !?? Mainstream society hurts my head.
@Andy Salter perhaps so for some.. I'm 31 and still a full head of hair for now but I agree that holding on to a rat's tail for time's sake isn't ideally the way to go. That said, to each our own!
Dude. You're just mad these guys are more cool and successful than you'll ever be pal. Have you ever played guitar in front of as many people as Tom Keifer has? Loser.
I had the OFR cassette in high school. During my summer warehouse job, I'd play it to annoy my coworkers. That tape would not make it passed 2 songs before they'd take it out of the player...lol
Haha did the same at our after school warehouse house job in the summer of ‘89. I remember an older coworker saying “damn, someone shoot that bitch” as soon as Gillette’s vocal came in.
That'd be like a guy who won Ninja Warrior going on that "Yea, you know, I just went through the whole course completely blindfolded, that about sums it up."
"Anytime, anywhere, anyplace man, Michael will make you look like a disgrace. He'll out shred anyone to hell and back uh!" ... I miss the days of shred offs
That "ere" or bus left by 89, if anything those bands surely did not look like Nitro in 89. They had all started to incorporate slides, blues, and dress less crazy.
@WashingtonMonster86 Hair metal was still around in the early nineties. Common misconception that it was just an 80's thing. It didn't fade away until around 1994 when nu-metal started getting big which was the rising of the ugly depressed losers as rockstars instead of the good looking pretty boys who like to party.
Shred it dude 🤘🤘🤘...that guitarist must of been fun to watch live real talent...I've gone from watching Ozzy to watching Lita ford + Ozzy to finding out who Jim Gillette is,to finding out he can sing operatic styleee to him singing with very talented guitarist who must of been GRT fun to watch live....I'm now going to awaken in my hot tub time machine 🤩🙄🤗
The 80's were much more fun. The age of the internet blows in comparison. MAB forever! Wow this is before MAB had the double necked guitar forearm tattoo!
It's a curious coincidence that the fastest guitarist and highest range vocalist actually met and made a band. It didn't last long, it was a bit cheesy for some but it's 2020 and we still haven't seen any band with such phenomenal performance capabilities.
I'm cringing so hard at Jim that I look like I'm eating a lemon. You gotta really be special to be interviewed with Michael Angelo...and he's NOT the one that looks awkward.
seems like he discovered that he has long hair for the first time ur so proud dude !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Looking for a band called "The Front" from the late 80's. I picked up a demo(?) at an LA usedmusic store in the early 90's. No title on yellow and blue graphics cover. Really good writing
I met these guys. They filmed a video in my hometown and my best friends dad was the ED (entertainment director not erectile dysfunction) at the club. They all ended up on the video. Anyway I wonder if they look back at this and think "wow I looked dumb " I think Lita married one of these guys
@@paranormaldrummer69 Apparently she doesn't need to, in which to think that. She... kind of has a not so great description of their marriage together.
Actually, Jim Gillette is quite a poser here. Adam Curry is just being himself-that super feathered hair was not cool by any kind of metal standards (or anything else), but he was doing it anyway.
Lol.. yeah he is.. major poser.. Jim's looking pretty posery as well here..lol.. I think jim was a little more cocky than anything for real.. the hair flipping shit is too much man.. lol..
One of the guests bought him some clothes and said "you can't be a power anymore" on air. I have it on tape but I'm trying to remember who it was... Steve Stevens maybe?
the way that host and most 80s people with that look tilt their heads around is very disturbing looking. it seems like the only era you can look at the people and wonder wtf they were thinking. long hair isn't wrong in itself on men, but making it look that way is. the dudes in metallica looked like they wore with more dignity, even if it wasn't as well kept. still love batio though
Nitro: The Most Love It or Hate It Band Ever Created! Definitely not for everyone, this band is what happens when you put Twisted Sister, Vinnie Vincent Invasion and Racer X in a blender with just a dash of cocaine and I absolutely Love It! Its so beautifully over the top in the most entertaining way possible. Everything is turned up to eleven in this band, almost like a self aware parody of glam metal, and it gives this band a ton of infectious energy. While they were definitely not the most complex of songwriters, they knew they’re way around a good hook and a catchy riff.
these guys are the perfect meme for the 80s
wayne and garth

Well a combination with Wayne and Alice Cooper for Mikey. And Garth and his girlfriend at the end of the movie from the first movie for Jim.
@@godzillapunisher9912 lmao.. that's awesome!!
So true
Lol this is the most 80s video ever
Yeah dude. Focking awesome
Micheal was too good for Nitro.
Yup
i don’t think so. he was nitro along with jim gillette. who else is going to do those banshee screams besides Jim?
He was too good for Ozzy too, in his own head. Turned down an audition because Ozzy didn't want the flash
Nitro is great though and Jim was great,
@@PierrePreuthun nitro is straight trash.
I love how they are just a parody of shit bands but are extremely talented.
Michael is an outstanding player and shredder!
Josh Armoogam, He is the only cool guy in the video.
Josh Armoogam I met micheal he was extremely nice, and funny
Michael is like "please shut up Jim, you're embarrasing us"
Jawin jim Gillette, 80s marching powder bad boy
I just found this band in 2016! Life is good.
That blond guy with 80s hair moves lol...

What a cool theory 🤣
3:12 the speed of Michael Angelo and the ego of Jim
The blonde guy is exactly like that stereotypical high school brute you see on B movies and shows.
O.F.R. is an outstanding album. So many unique styles. it may need some playtime to "get to you" but once it hits you're hooked.
Machine Gunn Eddie is a masterpiece through and through played and sang by absolute masters of their arts.
Terrible production on that record unfortunately, could've been much better than it turned out
Michael Angelo looks like Mick Mars.
Lol.. he does man.. lol..
Yes! For real! There's even footage of him with Nitro where he even looks as the Shout At The Devil Mick Mars era lmao. Both great guitarists for sure but there's no doubt MAB is the OG between them 😂
He sounds like Mick Mars as well... awesome man..haha oh well...those days were GRT...
Yes he does... or Mark St. John from KISS.
And Jim resembles and has the mannerisms of a younger Nikki Sixx, minus the black hair.
MAB was the band's soul
Not that it had any to begin with
AWESOME thanks for the upload
Michael Angelo is bad ass 🤘

The post-grunge, post-Friends attitude.
Yep, true words! The power's gone but here and there's some spark of it coming back.
This comment is 10 yrs old. Nowadays it's even worse.
As we say..."shred it, dude". I say that all the time.
Jim was so cringy in his younger days

Big fan of Batio for sure.not to knock yngwie,Vai,Satriani or anyone else in the super shredders category but Michael is in a class by himself
I remember this interview!
Nitro is an awesome band! I love their music!
