Hi Rita! Oh my you are waaaay to kind! I cannot tell you just how happy I am to find other folks I can share my love of canning with because I don’t have that in my real life. What have you canned recently (or plan to)? So good to see you again!
Hi Friends! This chutney recipe will please even your picky eaters! If this recipe leaves you curious about more delicious spreads, hands down ya' gotta check out my balsamic onion jam, next: tinyurl.com/4twzku3t
SHALOM!!! You have me in here cooking like a pro! Thanks for sharing...I sooo needed something different to do with this fruit that was gifted to us...AND we get to use all the other ingredients...WIN WIN!
I really enjoyed this video and have added this chutney to my summer canning list. What I really liked the most (outside of really good camera work and visually appealing shots of the cooking process) is that you started the video with multiple examples of how to USE this product. It definitely helped me decide on whether to actually make this product. I appreciate you!
Hi Jilana! Aww, thanks so much! You'll love this jam, and, I forget to say this, but it doesn't have a discernible apricot flavor at all (it just gives it texture). You'll enjoy it for sure. I have just fallen head over heels in love with canning, but I still remember when I was first dipping my toe in the water with canning, I would see all these recipes and think "am I really going to use that?" or "how do I use it?". At first this was because I had a limited amount of jars so I really had to think about how much of what I canned, but over the years, I've come to see how versatile these unique, can't get from a store jams and spreads are so it really has opened up ways for me to give routine items I purchase (meats, grains, pasta, etc) always tasting a bit different. You've gotta check out my carrot cake jam video too! Thank you for the encouragement. :)
@@BecomingaFarmGirl Previously, I was exclusively an ingredient canner, and that has served me very well, but I so enjoy providing my family with home preserved food that I am moving more and more into recipe canning. This will be a useful addition!
Im telling you IM, once you start making your own spreads you’re headed down a deliciously addictive path. Oddly enough, my next recipe is going to be honey Dijon (I made it the same day and mistakenly left the cans on the counter in the background) lol. Good to see you as always!
Darling, thank you! I remember as a new canner I was curious about how I would actually USE these items in everyday meals so I want to show that canning is “worth” it (your time, collecting cans, etc). Even as a small time canner, I can attest that it’s the fastest and tastiest way to get meals to your family! Thank you for saying hello!
I made my first chutney last year using fresh plums I was gifted. Haven't used it yet! but I love your idea suggestions! I was just going to use it in meat sandwiches as a spread. I am going to use your recipe next time :) Thanks for all that eye candy!
Cassandra, I haven't been getting notifications so I turned them off and back on. I thought you were just in a YT slump like I am. ;) Here's how I see using this chutney: 1. replacing mango chutney in curried chicken salad, and 2. replacing cranberry sauce on the holiday table. I can just see it pairing beautifully with turkey and dressing. Keep these yummy recipes coming. Now, I am gonna go back and catch up on all that I have missed.
Now those are some GREAT ideas, Alicia! I love the idea to add it to chicken salad. Girl, watch when you can and on your timeline. I VM'd you on IG too. :)
So glad you enjoyed it Kim! Im almost certain you will! Also, it’s not overly apricot tasting either. The apricots do more to add sweetness and texture! Enjoy!
Yum! I have that book too, I found it at a thrift shop a few years ago but I’ve never used it because it doesn’t have pictures. This recipe makes me want to now!
Hello Fermented Homestead! You’ll love this book! I fully admit that NOT having pictures is a draw back but nearly half of the videos I’ve shred so fr are from this book. It’s truly one of my favorites! So good to see you in my neck of the woods!
@@BecomingaFarmGirl I couldn’t not come check out your videos after seeing your comment! I love your videos, they are so creative in content and cinematography! 💜
Hi Amy! It's always so good to see you :) Thanks for the reminder! Since I use my these tea bags not only for my loose leaf teas but also as an herb sachet, I always pay a little bit more to get unbleached, plastic free and biodegradable (so that I can add them to my compost pile). Here's the link: amzn.to/2TbBm4I
Cassandra, I just imagine you having this beautiful decorated barn with all your food ideas so I could eat there and never get bored eating your very beautiful food. Thank you.
Haha! Yes, Kathleen that is the dream! It’s always good to see you on the channel! I very much appreciate having canning friends that truly get the usefulness and fun of home canned foods!
I think I drool on myself every video I watch of yours! Your food always looks so beautiful!!! This is being added to my list of things to can this year, along with your onion jam. 💞
Hi Jenn! Haha, thanks so much. I loooove canning, but I'm truly just your everyday home cook. Canning really allows you to put something on the table quick. And yes, HANDS DOWN the Onion Jam is every bit as amazing (and more)!!! Let me know if you have any recipes you'd like me to try! What are you looking forward to canning most this summer?
Hey wild plum! Good to see you again! I forgot to mention that this does NOT have a discernible apricot taste either, they just add a chewiness I think you’ll love. Happy canning!
Excellent recipe and video. Is is possible to put a folded towel in the bottom of the water bath. I am making small batches and don't want to spend money on a water bath canner. Thanks for your recipe, video and help.
Hey girl! There are so many ways to make it. This one is balanced. Also, the apricot flavor is in the background-it adds more sweetness and “mouth” than anything. 😀
I came because of Will McDaniel's How to Cook a BBQ for an Alien. I stayed because this is genuinely a good chutney recipe. The Hermsters will love this!
This looks great, cant wait, be my first time lol. Can i use same recipe but switch fruit? Do we always have to have fresh and dried fruits ect..? Getting too expensive to buy chutney's, have to make myself. Appreciate it, tyvm PS. I have the book, thought looked firmilar lol.
Hey Sharen! I would love to use peaches, I’ve made several other similar chutney’s with pear and they are just as good, a bit sweeter but equally delish. My canned peaches and pears are leaning and I had dried apricots on hand that I wanted to use up. Thanks so much Sharen! Always good to see you!
Hey girl! There are many ways to make it and I’m sure I’ll share other variations but this one uses items that are currently in season. Yes, you’ll love it on salmon. Same here, we eat salmon every week and toppings like this keep it fresh! Always good to see you!
@@BecomingaFarmGirlI’m doing well. Thanks! Keeping busy with outdoor spring projects, wifey duties, momma duties, home business duties...all kinds of duties. You feel me? 😜
lol! I just made this! LOL It did NOT come out like yours! hahaha! My chutney came out like a stewed apple texture and not a jam! But I realized I didn't follow to a tea! LOL It tasted really good though so yay! I'm about to have it on chicken now!
Oh no! Send me a picture over on IG. This is not a jam so your description of it being a stew is how I would’ve described what you saw in the video. So glad the taste was there but I also want to trouble shoot where things took a turn. Outside of that 1. Whoo too for making the recipe and leaning into canning and 2. Good to “see” ya!”
Your husband is one lucky man! Look at you with your fancy lil herb bag. I just toss mine in there and then fish it out later. 👀 😂 Your idea might be better than mine. 🤔 😂 Yummy chutney! Your food always looks so delicious. Take care friend!
That herb bag is not fancy! Lol. While everyone else says use cheese cloth Im like whoa that could add up with all the canning I do! You’ll enjoy them and they are easy to find!
You said, you call this your goldylock jam. Never heard anyone refer to it like that before. But I think it sounded cool. Man, this is an awesome presentation you are doing here. It's like I'm watching a commercial. You could totally do your own cooking show. I mean like a real cooking show on television like Rachael Ray. I like the way you chose to film this one. This is awesome video quality. Did I mention that this is one incredible presentation. I think you may be an actress. You definitely have some theatre in you. I think you have been in your share of productions in the past. You do this UA-cam thing well. Great video! I have just subg4scribed to your channel. So congrats, you got another one.
