    This was awesome! and so helpful. I was doing everything wrong until I found your channel. Constantly sucking in my abs, clenched, bad posture, exercising wrong... and feeling like I was the only one on earth with prolapse. Alone and embarrassed.
    I now feel that there is light at the end of the tunnel and that my prolapse is slowly healing. I can't thank you enough for all that you taught me. God bless you.

      I agree, when I first started researching for information on prolapse all of the info online was so dark and scary until I found Dr. Bri.’s You tube channel. Don’t give up. It has been 6 months since I had my prolapse, and it is finally starting to heal....3 months ago I thought om gosh this is never going to heal but I just kept listening to dr. Bri and reading more books on detoxing and maya therapy and the results have been phenomenal. Consistency and discipline is truly the key. One of my greatest enemies was eating out at public restaurants and still is. I have a problem with over indulging on the wrong foods. For me that was a major issue. Good luck!!! Hugs, Dawn

      JerseyGirl South oh! I meant to post this to Dr. Bri And hopefully she is reading this. But I just went to a abdominal mayan technique therapist And she taught me one of the chakra sounds “ooooh” And told me to do this at first I thought it was ridiculous. But I started practicing it and I swear it is actually keeping my uterus and place better more up where it supposed to be. It really is blowing my mind. I looked it up and it is one of the chakra to the abdomen I am going to research it further. There is definitely something to get settled in the vibration where it gives off to my body. I know it sounds crazy but there has been scientific evidence that sounds and vibrations have certain different healing mechanism is to the body. If you start reach searching it on UA-cam you will find all kinds of crazy information about it

      You know the cool thing, Dawn? When you do the "oooh" sound with an exhale it actually ELEVATES your pelvic floor! So there is definitely a method to this madness ;) And on the other hand, an "ahhhhh" with an open mouth and light sighing sound can actually RELAX the pelvic floor. So cool, isn't it? Maybe I should do a video about ooohs and ahhhs :)

    Thank you so much for this video!! After watching this I tried to tune into my ab area and realized that I am always contracted, probably because I've been overweight and self conscious of my belly all my life. I breathe fast and shallow and perpetually tuck in my abs, even at 34 weeks pregnant. I did some deep breathing and my prolapse felt so much better the next day! 😁

    Wow! Thank you so much Dr. Bri!!!! His video helped me so much! I can totally relate with this ladies, “journey story”, as mine is so similar except no surgery. I was doing the man version of the ab routine in athlean X man routine for a six pack ab before my prolapse. So, I know exactly where she is coming from. I was also runnning 2 miles a day pushing to train for 5 k with my son! So, I was in complete shock when it happened as well. I had the same type of prolapse except I still had my perineum. I have been practicing. As you know Dr. Bri I have been practicing your routines and they have literally saved my life along with diet, chiropractic care, and now the amazing piece of the puzzle Mayan abdominal massage technique which has truly given me my life back!!! I would recommend for any woman to learn this and practice it on there self. Even if you go one time it will change your life forever! Thank you so much Dr. Bri!!!! If it had not been for you I would have never healed naturally. It was through your great supportive website I have found so much support and strength. God Bless you and keep you may His face continue to shine upon you and your family! Peace and shalom, Dawn:-).

    This is so helpful. I am seeing a pelvic floor specialist due to partial bladder prolapse and small rectocele and even though I am 62 think we can avoid surgery.. I wish I had known all this decades ago. Just did lots of kegels and my floor is too tight. The femfusion videos are consistent and have been a godsend .......... I would love to see a guide for yoga instructors for this topic (as most older women are a target).........We are doing private yoga instruction and are having to educate our instructor as we learn. .......

      Nancy, you might enjoy watching my Yoga for Beginners Series: ua-cam.com/play/PLDputRBPsHFS15PV1NrJB5-LpUUJKY03x.html Even though you're not a beginner, you might appreciate the focus on keeping the moves safe for the pelvic floor/core, with great alignment and form. I try to convey preparatory activation of the inner core via engagement, breathing, and then of course RELEASE when appropriate as well!

  • @maryhoffman9551

    This was really helpful. I didn't know that prolapse could occur because of exercise in that way. I had two prolapse-related questions: 1) what should I do during exercise if engaging my pelvic floor causes more pelvic floor tension and then less ability to contract the pelvic floor? and 2) how can I protect my pelvic floor (and newly healed linea alba) when coughing? I recently had a bad cough and did my best, but would love to hear your advice on that! Thank you!

    • @vibrantpelvichealth
      @vibrantpelvichealth  6 років тому

      Great questions, Mary! First off, it sounds like you might need to gain more pelvic floor awareness and control in order to be able to most effectively and efficiently engage it. Often, people need to learn how to RELAX before they can effectively contract the pelvic floor muscles. Consider trying this vid first: ua-cam.com/video/bnISaRCtofI/v-deo.html ... This will show you how to release and let go, and then it will be easier to engage your pelvic floor with the right amount of tension when it's time for you to do a kegel! Times to do a kegel would be when you need to prepare for a cough/sneeze (or blowing your nose)... This is called the pelvic floor "brace" or "the knack." Do a kegel, hold it, cough/sneeze/blow your nose (etc.), and THEN RELEASE COMPLETELY.

    This is awesome and I will be sharing it with my 1100 Facebook friends and pray the mighty algorithm gives it favor. There are SO many more issues than just diastasis recti. I am opposite of this woman. I was OVER zipping up the pelvic floor out of fear of the leaking issues many people have. Because of that my abs have a hard time engaging and cause imbalances causing psd (pubic symphysis dysfunction). It's so important to seek a pelvic floor pt and also to spread more and more education like this.

      Thank you SO MUCH, Nikki, for sharing this with your tribe! This is the way the information is spreading -- grassroots efforts, woman to woan. So thank you again. If your issue was actually the reverse of Kerry's (in the interview), you might like knowing about my pelvic pain/tension playlist: ua-cam.com/play/PLDputRBPsHFQJ6PhSXjW54Oi-QoNCqsGL.html ...And I'm so glad you sought help from a pelvic floor PT. That's huge! Thanks again for helping to spread AWARENESS!

      FemFusion Fitness thanks for the heads up and I will check out that playlist for sure! I've been posting pelvic floor safety on all my social media for about 4 years now so my friends may think I'm crazy 😜 Some of my fitness trainer friends have even argued with me about what is safe for a woman with a core that isn't fully healed (I'm sure in your profession you aren't surprised at all). It's like we have to get injured before we will heed the warnings. 😞

      Anything that squeezes around the middle can be problematic. If it provides a lifted feeling (from the pelvic floor on up) then that's different, but something that constricts your abdominal area is going to create a lot of downward pressure on your pelvic organs.

    • @vibrantpelvichealth
      @vibrantpelvichealth  6 років тому

      It's going to be different for everyone! You want to be able to "feel it," but you don't want to go to the point where your form breaks down. Just follow along with the video and if you can do a few more reps with good technique (i.e. lifted from the pelvic floor, low abs gently pulled in) and proper breathing, then go for it! If not, stop. I hope that helps!

    Are these exercises safe for diastasis recti?

    • @vibrantpelvichealth
      @vibrantpelvichealth  6 років тому

      I recommend holding on lightly behind your thighs as you lean back, breathing steadily (really focusing on the exhales), and monitoring yourself. If you’re sufficiently engaged through the pelvic floor (which the moves activate by way of the adductors/inner thigh muscles) then your DEEP ABS will be turned on as well, and this is what you’re going for when it comes to DR repair! You just want to be sure that your rectus abdominis muscles aren’t separating as you lean back. If you notice any tenting or "doming" of your belly, or if you feel that it's increasing your separation, then it's not appropriate for your stage of healing. But again, holding on lightly behind your thighs (while keeping your spine straight/long) can really help.

      I know... It really goes to show that education/awareness and starting EARLY with proper body mechanics and proper form/technique is key! I'm currently working on a program that will be available to teen girls and young women that will *hopefully* help prevent these type of issues in the future. Many of my colleagues are working on similar programs and courses... The info is spreading, slowly but surely!
