Holy crap. I've been 3D printing for a couple years now, and I'm embarssed to say this is a revelation. Works like an absolute charm! Thank you so much!
Glad it helped!
I sharpened the beveled side of the scraper some more and then your method worked perfectly, thanks for the tip
I had a hard time removing my prints until i watched this video, so simple yet so affective, Good Work!
great! easy working and straight to the point tutorial without an intro!
and what happens when you scratch the bed by accident? Just take 50% alcohol and 50% water in a spray bottle, spray the bed around the print and wait 10 seconds. It should lift off without any tension at all. Then take a clean towel and wipe the whole bed clean with the remaining liquid and pristine bed and pristine model. Seriously folks do not scrape your bed. Sorry Mr Volt but I see many accidents happening with this method.
To each their own. I've printed and removed hundreds of pieces this way without issue. I'll have to try your alcohol way soon
Does the alcohol (isopropyl I guess?) weakens the PLA plastic?
At first I was skeptical about this working, but I was desperate for this print to come off, and IT WORKED SO EASILY! I WAS SHOCKED, thank you
I had a large project that would not budge, and this worked like a charm! Thank you!
OMG I think this was the most helpful 3D printing video I've ever seen! And it's something so simple that I even feel kind of dumb...
Thanks! Haha, no worries, I didn't figure this out for a long time on my own too
@@MrVolt until you showed this I cut my self 50 times 3d printing and trying to remove it I almost killed my self since it nearly cut my wrist so thank you for saving my life

This worked like a charm!!!!! I had a 92mm fan cover printed on the ender glass that I couldn't take off. I also put it in the fridge, but low temp didn't help...
New at 3D printing, and this method worked great !! Thank you for sharing.

This is the only way I was able to safely remove Articulated Spirit Dragon. I first put the plate with the print on it in the freezer for 15 min and then used this technique. Came off without any damage 🙂

Oh my gosh it worked so well. Previously I tried prying it and scraping and nothing came. 15 seconds of this and it pops off ridiculously clean. Thank you

Thank you ,got first printer today and was trying to find a safe way to remove item ,.
Thanks for the tip it just pulled and broke off a peiece of glass off the bed. Now i need a new bed 🤦🙄
Thumbs up for printing something from Futurama
Thx!!!
I didn't think this would work... Somehow it did 0_0
Haha, glad it did!
genius!
I learned that if you swear while using a pry tool, the print comes up easier.
I use PLA on glass with hairspray. Let the bed cool and it pops right off. With ABS I used my monster maul, but that will only work once and you have to buy a new printer.
Actually, What worked quicker, is I used the sharp corner of the scraper while tapping with another scraper. 4 or 5 taps that was it.
what the fuck it worked in a second
I learned that you should make sure you are putting the force into a regular part of the model, not a support...
put it in the freezer. I had a really really stuck piece that even with the bed off I couldn't pull it off. There was no scraping that piece off. I popped it in the freezer (whole bed) and 10 minutes later came back to the piece already popped off.
I actually heat my bed to 100 C and then using the scraper (yes, the same :) ) i stick it once slanted face down at 45 degrees in between the bed (tape) and part. And slowly apply a twist force progressively increasing as i hear the tape and part release. It hasn't failed me so far regardless of adhesion method (double face tape 3M or generic, tube glue, or just tape) and i've printed some pretty big stuff.
Biggest so far was the South Pointing Chariot by brlaw, where i have redesigned the wheels (two halves and a more realistic look) and increased the surface to 100% of my CR-10's printing capacity. Same technique, popped on its own once i went around the perimeter once.
But that's my experience on the current machine the CR-10.
thanks! heating to 100c worked for me ;)
I even remove my bed from the freezer and the parts are still as if I used epoxy instead of PLA. Hate the glue stick, but if I don't use it, parts don't stick, even if heating the bed to 60 degrees. At this point I will buy a flexible bed.
Try cleaning the bed with some IPA and then re-level it. It worked like a charm for me
Just heat it up and again at 80C+ so it melts and start peeling the sides so the wedge can fit in.
came off so easily after trying with my hands for 15 min
Guys only add 1 layer of glue stick for adhesion
This is genius, however I've made the mistake of printing a guitar pick, and it's stuck to my flexible bed
I'm fuckin idiot I cut my self 20 times removing a 3d print and all I needed WAS A BUTTER KNIFE
first comment and like!!
it no work :(
Nah, hammer is more fun :-)
