How can I upload just an audio file I recorded of my music and use it as my music for a new video I'm creating?? or do I have to create a video of my audio first??? But how? It's something I had recorded years ago with several musicians. Thank you, Charles!
Hmm, I'm looking for a specific scenario and it seems like no one is taking about it. So I want to add a specific song (let's say Imagine Dragons - Enemy, just as an example) but when I go to Tiktok, upload my video, then search for that specific song to go with my video, Tiktok is giving me only 1 minute of it BUT not the part that I want. When I create my video I'm editing it with a specific part of a song in mind. For example when I'm revealing something would be awesome to sync with a specific drop from the song. Now, I've noticed other tiktok'ers that ARE using the same song from Tiktok's library, but their video is perfectly synced with the music and the part they are using is not available in tiktok's library. This only means they have edited the video on their end with music included and they fully uploaded the video + the song. Normally, this will fall in the category of using your own music and on the bottom right corner your picture of a vinil should appear, but no, it shows up as official Imagine Dragons music. How are they doing that? It's really important for me to respect the guidelines but at the same time to create qualitative content. Lastly, videos that are using official tiktok music have more chance of getting discovered by the algorithm... If anyone can answer, would be highly appreciated!!!
I know this is super late to the punch, so apologies, I’m just doing some research before I start up my music Tiktok. Is it possible to add music later in the actual video? As in, regular voice-over, and then adding the sound toward the tail-end of the video?
Great video! What about if I want to upload directly on tiktok before the relise date (just in order to create a bit of expectation before relise)? What happens after the actual relise and ufficial distribution on tiktok? Will there be twice the same on tiktok? One uploaded by me in advance and the other by the distributor? And how is that suoposed to be managed? Thank you
My question is if I use a music distributor and set a release date can I go right away to use my sound? Do I have to wait 4 weeks? I'm impatient. I want to use my sound now but I want to go through the distributor. Can I do that? What's the wait for?
I keep trying this but it keeps muting my music for Copyright infringement.. I am the owner of the Copyright... Soooo. Now what do I do... Is it because I'm using a UA-cam video ?
is there an option to upload it officially to TikTok before the official release date so that the official indexed sound can be used on promotion vids before the actual release?
Question - my music was distributed through distrokid. I made a video with my song and it says I can’t promote it because the video contains “copyrighted music”. Other friends are having issues now. Idk if something changed in 2024

Hey Charles thanks for the video. I have a question, would you say that a huge advantage with going the distributor route would be that if people on Tiktok see how viral a song is with trends that they could actually find the song easier than if the artists had their song / audio file uploaded through video from their camera roll? Like if I wanted to find the song on Tiktok and listen to the full version I couldn’t do that right ? Unless it’s actually in the index? If I went the first route (not using the music distributor) could I title the audio with the actual song name and my artist name? So when it’s used by other people they can know the full song and potentially find the full track on UA-cam by searching . Thanks for reading hope you can help out !
very good question man, i want to know the same thing, because when i do it via the first method my vid gets a instant copyright claim due to me having it on all music digital platforms already, please help me get around this
The problem is content id with distribution. One minute they telling my friend some tracks can’t be accepted then others they are accepted and the all sounds are from the same packs. However it seems mainly to be vocals. So why is that you can use non exclusive drums, synths etc but not the vocals that came in the same pack?
when i do it via the first method my vid gets a instant copyright claim due to me having it on all music digital platforms already, please help me get around this
Hi Charles! TikTok confuses me. I have uploaded existing music videos of my songs and videos of live performances, I have performed live with newly made up songs, covers, as well as original songs and uploaded into my TikTok account, and the site has accepted them. I had come to think that the site allowed covers and that original music was welcome. But recently, a recent music video of mine, in which I have all the rights to the song and I had paid a filmmaker to create the video, I found the sound muted each time I tried sharing it on Tiktok. Just days ago I tried uploading an old music video of a spoken word by me and backing music by a friend collaboration, and again the sound was muted by Tiktok. This time I got a notice from TikTok saying it was a copyright violation. I don't get how I can be violating my own copyright and why other social media sites have no problems with these songs or videos. I am using Reverbnation as my distributor.
I have the same issue, but I'm using DistroKid. I can't use my own music in my video already embedded in the video before uploading. It gets muted but I can (could) see the "original sound" source tho.. until today as it seems to be gone but I haven't pulled it. Super weird.
@@dopedrums it is crazy! Tiktok will not allow the music, which is definitely mine and contains no samples, so I have given up trying with songs of mine the site will not accept.
Hey so I released my album and it’s on tiktok now, but it won’t let me make videos under it. Also how do you link you music to your tiktok page like famous musicians have on their pages?
I think it's best you upload to other platforms first. This is because, when they hear your beautiful song on tiktok, they go along to hear them in Spotify and other platforms. And from there, it's easier for you to check your dashboard on these distributors to monitor your streams and how the song is doing .❤🙏🙌

Awesome video, thanks! Can you advise please - once we upload a video with our sound, how do you set the song/sound to be available publicly?
you're welcome! it's available public right away once you upload. Here's some more info here: www.charlescleyn.com/blog/how-to-upload-music-to-tiktok

When you upload music to tiktok does it let you choose the duration of a certain part of song??
