  • Abraham experienced trials and failures and yet the Bible refers to him as the friend of God. As we examine Genesis 18 we'll witness Abraham's encounter with three heavenly visitors and gain further insight into his relationship with the Lord. Let's explore the privileges and expectations of those who desire a friendship with God as we study the life of Abraham.
This teaching is from our series Genesis - 2009 with Skip Heitzig from Calvary Church.

He references again the iniquity of the Amorites not being full and uses that principle to help explain Sodom. That is a great way to understand God's holiness and the process of his timing of judgment. I also like the reminder of the importance of intercessory prayer.

Hi Gloria thank you for watching our UA-cam videos! We are sorry to hear about your realization and wanted to share this verse with you today.
      2 Corinthians 12:9
And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me."
      Hope this helps!

A question I have always wondered about, and I realize it’s a silly one. How did a lamb roast cook so quickly?

I love Skip, but the percentage part was incorrect. Children sleep, so they are in the house but asleep. Most parents work, so even when the kids are out of school (7 hours a day 5 days a week!) they still are not with parents. Usually kids are only with parents, awake, from about 5:00-till they go to bed. During that evening time the parents are fixing dinner, doing laundry, helping kids do homework...parents do not get much quality time with the kids...most of us are drowning or feeling like we are barely keeping our heads above water. Schools take up way more then 16% of their awake hours!

After Sara died Abraham married again and had more children. He apparently, had no problems in the bedroom at the age over 100. Abraham lived to be 175 yo. Ninety-nine was not barely walking, unable to care for his hygiene, feed himself, or be aware of his surroundings, he was aware enough to send his servant to get Issac a wife. Your making Abraham out to be a crippled, old, old, old, geezer is not accurate, my opionion.
