    Nice JFK impression.
Good point about the importance of blessing Israel and that being a central political issue. It should definitely be so among genuinely serious Bible students.

"Terah" means delay. Name "Haran" means parched, barren. (I was studying gen12 and also read D.Guzik's commentary, which is where this come from)

I'm a little confused and it's probably how I am reading it, but most translations leave out the word "might" (Genesis 12 vs. 19).
I know I may be taking this to the extreme, but it's just how my mind works. If pharaoh did take Sari for his wife, then was he essentially pimping out his wife for his gain? In vs 16 pharaoh gives Avram all kinds of things. The amount of stuff given would seem to imply they were there for at least more than a day. I know this is just getting caught up in the weeds, because it really doesn't make difference in the end, but was just curious.
Any thoughts on this world be appreciated. If you find that this comment may be a stumbling block for others, pleas delete it. I sometimes don't ask the crazy questions because I don't want to be the cause of doubt for anyone.

Hello Trey, thank you for watching and thank you for being a subscriber!
While a certain perspective can bring about the idea that Abram was using Sarai to get rich. It is quite far fetched (in my opinion) for a few reasons.
      1) The story of Abram and Sarai visiting Egypt begins in verse 10 with the premise of Abram needing resources due to a famine in the land. While Abram may have had an ulterior motive and was a very flawed man we know he lived a life of faith and an awareness of God's movement in his life. To say he used his wife as a means of money implies something about Abram's character we do not have much basis for.
      2) His initial claim in verses 11-13 was that he was afraid of being killed due to being Sarai's husband and Sarai attracting a high level of attention due to her beauty. Moving forward into the with that and an ulterior motive of high profit would also seem stretched as either he witnessed another husband of a beautiful wife get murdered or heard about it and remembered that possibility. Which led his short term thinking of they will let me live as a result of simply being her brother not a husband.
      3) The story is a lesson of God's providence and the keeping of His promises (chapter 11 of Genesis) in the midst of our flawed thinking. This short story illustrates beautifully how God can make a promise to us and we get to follow the adventure all along the way looking back and seeing how all the pieces fit. I am sure you knew that last part I just wanted to share.
      Hope this helps!
