    Everyone thinks Ukrainian is not a dance, and it's some weird "thing", no, in fact , Ukrainian isn't really even a dance, it's an art. And a very beautiful art.

      So Гопак is an art? That's no surprise because dance is a form of art..
      A very beautiful art indeed :)

      Yep, Hopak. Here is his former amateur boxing team-mates (now pro's Usik and Berinchik) dancing Hopak during London Olimpics. ua-cam.com/video/e0U119rYrW4/v-deo.html

      In general yes, but there are different versions of hopak. I suppose this ua-cam.com/video/Q-Y7oKPdV70/v-deo.html and this ua-cam.com/video/wg9uPIaHEHw/v-deo.html are more close for understanding

    What are they saying between 2:20 and 3:00? Is it a cheer or something? Google translate’s showing me no love.

      Right of Reason 2:20 I couldn’t make out all of it, but at one point he says “very good” so safe to assume it’s a cheer

    Mad respec for the girls that h as d to do this in those dresses while the lads got nice loose trousers.

    • @isla.luvs.skellies
      @isla.luvs.skellies 4 роки тому

      The dresses and tops are like, a solid not stretchy fabric so its hard to move super freely. But the sleeves amd skirts are usually poofy and large so its easier to move! (Before you ask, I know this because I am Ukrainian and took Ukr. dance lessons)

    so the average folk people in ukraine were dancling like that ?? haha

    • @thegrandberry4418
      @thegrandberry4418 5 років тому

      umkalzum well, the hopak came from the zaporozhian kozaks who were a military group, so the men’s part is basically a military dance derived from the older folk dances, but up in general ukrainian dances require a lot of athleticism, even when they’re not a hopak
