Thank you so much!!! My battery on my key fob stopped working and I put a new battery but it still wouldn’t lock or unlock and I didn’t even know my car had a key unlock on the door! Stuck it in there and it reprogrammed the key fob and now everything works thanks!!
How do I reprogram the fob if I don’t have a key for the door? The thing you pulled from the fob doesn’t fit in my door but fits perfectly in the glove box where the air bags are… (that goes for both of the fobs)
Your method didn’t work at all but i found very similar way and that one did the trick for me. 'Cycle' (turn) the key clockwise and counter-clockwise. Doing this locked and unlocked the car and the sidelights flashed as they normally do as if I clicked the fob to lock the doors. • Keeping the key in the door, now use the keyfob, to lock & unlock the car. • The keyfob should now be working!
I didn't have to put either of my fobs in the ignition. Car was already unlocked before I reprogrammed 1st fob. All I done was put the key in the doorlock and locked it, while the led was a solid red I pressed the unlock button on the fob and it unlocked the car 😊 2ND fob the door was locked so just used the key to unlock then lock again and as before while the door led was solid red I pressed the unlock button. ❤Brilliant both fobs working again took less than 30 seconds to do both... @@darrennewell4 the key was in the door lock still. If I remember correctly I didn't take it out until both fobs were working. It wasn't a conscious thing it was just when 1 worked I just repeated what I done and got the second 1 working again... my car is a 2011 passat b7 1.6tdi maybe useless information but just in case lol 🤝

You just saved me like 500 bucks. I had to turn the key to unlock it, and while holding it to unlock, press the unlock button on my key. I can lock the car using the physical key, but I can't unlock it without using the button on the key. Everything works now! Thank you so much!

Thanks! Yes you have to unlock the car with the secret key hold it in the unlock position the press unlock on the fob 🎉 and the fob is magically working again ... saved me over £100 not having to send off to reprogram unnecessarily
yes, definitely worked on my 2007 vw passat. Put the plastic key fob in the door lock, turn to unlock and hold it there, at the same time press unlock button on the remote control key. Key worked just fine after this. Thank you very much everyone.

For me worked like this : press middle button.. open trunk (it was raining) and there i have pull out battery or the remote key and wait 1 minutes.. then put it back and worked.. also i have changed the battery after that.. with the key plastic that u put inside in door.. was not worked to open the door..but after that operation that i did it worked the remote and the key plastic in the door .. sorry i hope i make myself understandable.. English it's not my primary language ! 🤭😂👍🍻
Im having all sorts of issues with key fob boot will pop up once in a moon lock and unlock depends on the mood 🥴 so if l pull out the small key and follow your steps everything will reset and work as new?

A new fob needs to be programmed with your car protocols so it can open, lock etc and only authorized personnel can do that unfortunately like dealers and vw
I have the same problem. The light on the fob is blinking when i press the buttons but nothing happens. Have tried everything and still nothing. I scanned the key and it shows it's transmitting but no lock/unlock works. Battery is new.

Just gave this a try anyway and when I take the key out the fob and put it in the door lock it dont unlock or lock my car but i still need to be right next to my car to use the fob to unlock it
Try very very hard to only if emergency use that plastic key for popping off door handle cover or fuse boxes. Flat head screw driver is best if available. One day your key may break off in car door like mine. Because mine broke. Those keys are plastic and very very fragile so don't use for all that. then it may break off in future when just trying to reprogram fob.
Hi thanks for the video, I’ve tried what you suggested in the video but I’m still having the problem, basically my key will not lock,unlock or pop the boot. I can place the key in the ignition to start the car but when I remove the key the ignition stays on and doesn’t turn off. The problem only happened recently as it all worked perfectly before. I really need some help as it’s draining my car battery and leaving me stranded . Please 🙏 help
Have you got another key fob? It could be anything but by the sound of it, it could have been damaged and try taking out the cell and clean the connectors ends with rubbing alcohol or spirit.
If you keep holding the button for more than five seconds then it opens the windows. It’s a normal vw key fobs programming. Anything different could be malfunction or re-programmed that way
@@Adnankhanchannel1 somebody stole my purse w my key. 2020 Passat. Only was given one set when bought. So I ordered a new key through them. But only they can reprogram it? Cause now I’ll have to get my car towed to the dealership
Sorry to hear that but it’s true only they can reprogram the fobs or dealerships. Look for any specialists as well, may be they could help in reducing the cost down.

There is a reason why they have restricted the range to 1 meter, otherwise someone at home can accidentally press the button and your car will unlock. Why do you need more than 1 meter anyway?

Your method didn’t work at all but i found very similar way and that one did the trick for me.
'Cycle' (turn) the key clockwise and counter-clockwise. Doing this locked and unlocked the car and the sidelights flashed as they normally do as if I clicked the fob to lock the doors.
• Keeping the key in the door, now use the keyfob, to lock & unlock the car.
• The keyfob should now be working!

Do you have to leave the key in the door or put it back in the fob when the light is solid red before you hit the unlock button on the fob

Give it a try, there is no harm in doing this! However make sure you change your fob battery!

You can only reprogram an existing reprogrammed key from the dealer. For a brand new key you would need to get a technician or dealer’s help

Did you order new set of keys? If so they would need programming at the dealer or with some Indy!
Will this process work to start the car also? I’ve heard that it’ll only unlock and lock the door but it won’t start the vehicle.
That process is for preprogrammed fobs which stops working after battery failure etc. the new fob will need programming unfortunately

Strange, it shouldn’t beep if you are unlocking it with master key. Possibly a different settings on your car.

This doesn't make sense. unlock the car then lock the car with the key. But if the door is locked how do you get in the car to insert the fob?
Quyen you unlock the door with car key 🔑 then you put that key in your fob and insert it in ignition. Sorry for confusion if there may be!
What if it's push to start
For push to start you have to register your key fob by holding next to the wireless key sign on your car

Nonsense, your fob will not get programmed by this.
This is a re-programming an existing key! Obviously you can’t just program a new key!!
