VW Passat Key Fob Doesn't Work Fix

This morning I had an issue with my car key not opening the door and I was stuck and tried this method to make it work. Sometimes the battery connector gets dirty or needs a bit scrubbing off to make it work. In this video, I'll show you how you can open the key fob and change battery or clean the battery connectors to make it work!

Brilliant. Just happened to me. Watching this video outside the car because I can lock it, open the boot but not unlock the doors. Pried the fob open, removed battery, cleaned contacts, put back together, doors opened. Life saver. Thanks. 👍

I can’t believe this actually worked. It seemed like one of those responses you get from the IT department at work, but it actually worked for me, my key wasn’t working at all and now it works. The range is still a shambles, but it actually locks now

Thank you, it worked. I think this works because of keyfob restarting, rather than pins being dirty/oxidised. Mine were perfectly clean, anyway, this worked perfectly.

Amazing video. Probably saved $30-40 on car key service. The contacts did not even look dirty, but after cleaning them with alcohol, the unlock button started working again.

you can get into the car without the button working. Below the driver's door handle, there is a small slot, with the plastic key that has a remote control you remove the plastic cover (insert the tip of the key in the slot and pull towards you so that the plastic cover pops out ) under this cover there is a lock that you can open with the plastic key that was inside the remote. An alarm would sound when opening the door. You get in, insert the command in the usual place to start the car, the alarm stops and you can continue your journey.

Thanks for saving me hundreds at the dealership. Such an easy solution for such a big worry! It was exactly my problem, The lock and trunk buttons work while the unlock is not. After penetrating the inside of the car from the trunk and opening the back seat handle (A trick that I learned from the "educational" movie "Nobody") I managed to open the back door. And on the other video Adnan says there is actually a hidden key slot !!! Thank you.

This issue happened to me today. The fob worked when I opened my car to go to the supermarket. It worked when I was putting my groceries in my car. I just had to lock it again as I had to throw some rubbish so I walked to a garbage can and walked back to my car, and when I went back to my car ready to go home and that's it, It would not open. Google is my friend in these kinds of cases and luckily brought me to your video. Also, it was weird for me as I saw that I could lock or open the boot with the first and second buttons, but not to open my car. Anyway, I did what you showed on the video, and it worked. I had to do all of this while in the car park, dark and minus 0.. thanks
