I create a mushroom shaped knob/button for the top of this custom crockpot cover.
Seeing as you have come this far, you might want to know that in this 26 plus minute long video there are 265 video clips. This took a looong time to create :)

well you figured it out, Denatured alcohol will cut the hot glue faster than what you were doing, you could have also used your drill press to hold the mushroom by the 1/4 inch tenon to sand it while it spun upside down, and I was you didn't do this and you didn't do that while you were making it, LOL at least you figured it out and fixed it, the hard way is better than noway, cute lid Clayton,

What is the drill attachment you use for the sanding?

It wasn’t really sanding as much as removing stock, Patrick. It is a conical bit 7/16 inches long and 1/4 inch wide at the base. There are 12 blades coming together at the rounded top.
