  • This was very special flight: took my brother and his fiancé on New York's Skyline Route for the first time. Come aboard and hear the ATC procedures for this special Class B clearance to fly low over one of the world's busiest cities, with jaw-dropping views (including Central Park and the Statue of Liberty).

    Absolutely love your content Bruno! My first flight in my Grumman was also my first time taking a passenger up without a CFI and it was my dad. He thought we were going to my school in KPVD so when I blew past providence for Quonset, he was confused. As we walked towards the hangars he asked who's plane we were gonna fly. I had to hold back the excitement and I know he did too when I told him it was mine. I'd flown over my hometown and the Cape/islands so much at that point but getting to share that special moment with the man that made me who I am from the airport that started my passion for aviation as a kid is something I'll never forget. I'm looking forward to finishing this deployment so I can take my parents up the Hudson corridor.

    Lovely demonstration! So basically
    1- take off
    2 proceed inbound toward the site while remaining clear of the bravo
    3 request ff and clearance through the bravo
    4 fly the skyline route Decend below the bravo for statue spin
    5 back home! Beautiful.
    I’m leaving my hometown of nyc and going to Georgia and pursuing aviation full time, I will be doing this flight in a week or two before I leave my home. Lovely video, fly safe buddy!

      Exactly! It's not too complicated, but a bit intimidating at first. Super easy in reality!

    On the production side, you continue to up the quality of your videos every time. The mulitple camera angles, new camera equipment and voice overs coupled with a massive edit are so appreciated! More importantly what you shared with your brother and his fiance cannot be understated. The three of you are young and, God willing, will live thousands and thousands more days. Most details of most of those days will be forgotten...but not this day! Every moment of this day will forever be remembered by all of you for all the right reasons. It simply gets no better than that..... Thank you for all you do.

    Can't want to fly the SFRA myself. I remember anxiously waiting the day I could fly my kids. I'm sure you can relate, but it was a very special moment. Absolutely right that aviation is best when shared. I remember the first time my then 11 year old daughter did a departure by herself (with me hands off but inches away). Special moments.

    Very impressive to get an understanding of what it’s like clearing into the bravo to do skyline flyovers. I’m a private pilot in Detroit, and I’m yet to request a clearance to fly near the city skyline. I feel like my biggest challenge is not understanding how to request that type of approach. I’m newly licensed

      Hey Ali! Thanks for watching buddy. I know the feeling, as I've been there before. I'd say all it takes is for you to do it once, and from there you'll keep perfecting it. Controllers are usually very accommodating and will work with you, you just need to know how to help them help you (meaning: know the procedures and ask for something that won't make their life harder). Fly safe!

    Bruno this is an amazing video! I appreciate it! I am a newly graduated ppl and watched the video to do this exact route and Learn how to talk to ATC to get approved for the same transitions.. it was super helpful! Is there a time you recommend when I'll get better chances of being approved for this route than others ? Keep the videos coming !

    a very nice video and cleared ATC instruction! just a quick question, why initial contact is the tower instead of approach, thought the whole process should be with NY or EWR approach

    • @FlyWithBruno
      @FlyWithBruno  2 роки тому +1

      Thanks Toney! The Skyline Route is inside the Class B of both KEWR and KLGA, and both have specific Tower frequencies to control planes flying that route. Even if you talk to Approach, they'll hand you over to TWR for proper clearance. Hope this helps!

    • @toneystark3337
      @toneystark3337 2 роки тому

      @@FlyWithBruno thanks for replying, also every time when they switch you between each tower, does last tower also relay your intention to the new tower? or you have to tell new tower what you want every time they switch you?

    • @FlyWithBruno

    Just curious - what was the airspeed circling the Statue?

    • @FlyWithBruno
      @FlyWithBruno  2 роки тому

      I keep it around 90-100 KIAS max, so I can be on the lookout for traffic while passengers have a nice view of the statue :)
