These shows are created by people who don't know, or care about the lore. They only use it as a soap box to stand on to push their ideology. The reason old guys see this and cringe, is because it has zero soul, and doesn't respect the source material. Like everything made in Hollywood today.

This show needs to be very, VERY, careful with the Sith in this tv show.
It was told in the Phantom Menace that the Jedi had thought the Sith had been extinct for 1000 years. The high republic takes place in 500 BBY. If it becomes widely known to the order that the Sith are not extinct it will directly conflict with Canon sources.
It is also the primary reason as to why Plagieus and Sidious were so successful during the prequel trilogy because the Order believed all the Sith were wiped out, thus making them complacent and arrogant, easy for Plagiues and Sidious to manipulate.
So unless the writers and directors of this series outright ignore canon material and lore they will HAVE to kill every Jedi that comes across a Sith, additional they have to make it look believable that it wasn’t a Sith who did it because in this time the Jedi were seen as invincible warriors to the rest of the galaxy at large, until the clone wars broke out. If Jedi’s start dropping left and right it will definitely signal that the Sith are back, or something else that is incredibly strong is killing time, which will once again draw the attention of the Jedi Order.
Acolyte will walk over a very thin line with this series and will have to be incredibly careful as to not mess up canon.
This takes place around 132 BBY
Well there's no proof that it's Sith doing this. It's possible there are a group of rogue Jedi trying to detach from the Order, like we saw with Dooku. Acolyte means a person who follows or assists a religious leader, so there might be a rogue Jedi leading a group away from the Order.
I mean, the Jedi Council also knew about inhibitor chips being in every single clone soldier in the middle of a galactic war and STILL fell for order 66, but at least that had the grace of it being plausible because Lucas obviously wanted to portray the Order as overconfident. If I had to guess that’s what they’ll probably do here. (Still doesn’t excuse Yoda catching COVID, Darth Trailer lmao)

Also while it’s true that Acolyte is a person who follows and assists a religious leader, in Star Wars sith Hierarchy it’s Acolyte->Apprentice-> Lord-> Darth. It’s basically an equivalent to a Padawan.
I hope you’re right that it’s just a group of dark Jedi hoping to secede, with perhaps the Order of Bane secretly orchestrating the split to weaken the order. But again the writers need to be very careful that the Sith are not truly exposed until the end of the clone wars.
