OMG thanks had the name servers typed in but never clicked switch to these settings. Your video helped me figure out what took weeks to get done because I gave up twice before.
Thanks for the guide! With Google Domains shutting down I'd much rather switch my DNS to Cloudflare than Square Space. Google's UI is not very intuitive, I would not have been able to switch without your guide. So helpful!!
Thanks for the tutorial and it is helpful. One question here, I also want to use the Gmail Alias email function. If I change the name server, it reminds me that the Alias email function will not work anymore. Any solution to fix that? Thanks.
Thanks, although I have a question, on "Default name servers" tab I have setup some records for email servers and if I activate "Custom name servers" tab email will stop working as I understand. Not sure how to set custom nameservers for web and still keep nameservers for email
What are you using as your email server? When you add your domain to Cloudflare initially it scans your existing DNS records (including your mail mx records) and adds them to Cloudflare. When you set the custom nameservers to Cloudflare your MX records for your email should automatically transfer.
@@simongondeck i didn't even come here for cloud flair, i was looking for something else but i watched the video anyway, it's super concise, good format. But sadly this format doesn't play well eith the algorithm
Thank you Simon for this video. We are using Godaddy hosting and google domain and we just updated the servers name in google to cloudflare servers. now we have an issue that our domain not accessible
i just bought my domain on google, but when i try to scan my DNS records the same way you did it doesnt show anything except the CNAME. what am i suppsoed to do?
does not matter where you register your domain. People just use Cloudflare to put behind a firewall. I would register on Google Domains if easier for you.
You would need to set the preferred domain in Google Sites. I do not know if Google Sites has this feature or not. You also could setup redirect in Cloudflare to redirect non-www urls to www. Just google “Cloudflare redirect non-www to www” and you should be able to find how to do this
Up to you. You most likely will not see much of a difference. The reason I use Cloudflare is to have all my clients on 1 platform with Cloudflare since their sites could be from a bunch of different domain registrars and easier to manage using Cloudflare. If you are just have a single site its probably okay to stay with Google Domains and use their DNS.
try changing your SSL settings in Cloudflare from "Full" to "Flexible". I do not have lot of experience with Google Sites. This may help: community.cloudflare.com/t/issues-pointing-my-domain-in-cloudflare-to-my-google-site-new-google-sites/83710/2
@@simongondeck it took a while for dns because it was a brand new google domain I guess. After I switched google to custom cloudflare ns it took many hours to come back up. Still not quite fully working on some images and links and ping strangely only resolves the domain to IPv6 for some reason
@@simongondeck there's something up with the IPv4 dns record. I have IPv6 disabled on my home network and it won't resolve the name at all through cloudflare's nameservers. When I was away from home I was able to reach cloudflare's nameservers via IPv6 only

Thanks! Out of curiosity, what is the advantage of using Cloudfare vs Google Domains for DNS?
Thanks for the tut man! I did the nameservers, but totally missed the "switch to these settings" button.

did you clear your cache on GoDaddy? In addition, did you double check to update where you point your site in GoDaddy to Cloudflare?

Wait a few seconds or a minute or 2 and try to rescan your DNS records. Does anything change?
is it better to buy the domain with google or cloudflare if I'm going to be making the website on GCP?

What if we don't use Google domains? We are trying to set up Google Workspace and it says we need to go through this last step?
You are trying to setup Google Workspace via Google Domains? Did you purchase Google Workspace a while ago that used GoDaddy perhaps?
si vale la pena cambiarse a cloudflare? o esta bien con los de google.

Cloudflare cant find my dns records. I dont know why it is happening.
try to have cloudflare rescan your domain by re-entering it in and going through the process again. Any luck?
