Lennette Octaviani Lithgow is a superb actor! To see him play Dick Solomon here and then portray a twisted serial killer on Dexter, is mind blowing! He’s probably portrayed every kind of character over his long career. For him to be able to completely loose himself in the utter silliness of this show after being in films like, The World According to Garp and Dressed to Kill, is the mark of a true actor-nothing is beneath him, he just immerses himself in every part he plays fearlessly! He’s one of my favorite actors.
Every single episode had me in stitches. My husband & i did a re-run binge watch a few years ago & laughed so hard as if we were seeing it for the first time. Wonderful.
kate baxter Yeah, he’s wonderful in this show. I’ve been seeing him in things since he was little. He grew up to be quite talented and handsome. Seems like a young man with a good head on his shoulders too.
I think the show's MVPs are Jane Curtain and Simbi Khali. How they observe this craziness and keep straight faces without cracking up on screen is quite an impressive feat.
One of the funniest things for me about this scene is that it's from the episode where Sally gets invited to a school dance, but discovers she can't dance AT ALL, then when she tries to be Italian, all of a sudden she's got rhythm!
Jane has the ability to put her persona into her characters that she plays without being like Jack, Sly, or Arnold where they basically play themselves.
We love 3rd Rock From The Sun here in the UK. I used to watch it with my family on BBC Two when I was a child and then ITV2 repeated it when I was about 12/13! Then a few years ago Channel 4 had it on in the morning. One of my favourite programmes ever! And I remember rolling around on the floor in tears howling and laughing when this scene, and episode in general, was on. Pure comedy gold! :')
Ava Wolf I’m Italian! I especially LOVE this scene! I think this entire episode is delightful! I wonder if it would offend people these days? People are so easily offended. Such a brilliant ensemble cast, absolutely perfect together!
Luckily I had it on tape so I could watch it over and over---and I sure did. When Tommy, Harry and Sally came out from behind the tree, I nearly fell off my chair laughing. Magical timing, magical everything.....
We do a sing along during our no-talent variety show at a retreat I attend each year. "That's Amoré" is one of our favorites, along with "Ghost Chickens In The Sky". So, I get to watch 3rd Rock everyday now, and tonight I got to watch this episode for the first time! The first two strums on his little lute, and I knew what was coming! My drapes are open and my neighbors must wonder! I'm laughing hysterically, bouncing up & down in my chair, waving my arms...
First time I ever saw John Lithgow do comedy before that his character's in films were mainly mad bad guys, it was then I knew not only was he a great actor but had great comedic timing. Genius.
Hahah!! I love it!!! And I love you!! =D I'm gonna watch the first season of this show soon!! Can't wait!! JGL is sooo adorable and they are all so funny!! :)
The folks at Carsey and Werner(?) came up with some truly funny shows (Married...With Children is another, as well as That 70s Show) but they ALWAYS hit home runs with the truly EXCELLENT casting choices.
Qué escena tan cómica y estos actores son especiales y espectadores y la comedia es muy buena. Los escritores se lucieron con estos personajes.. Simplemente extraordinaria comedia. 😊🇨🇷
Whomever owns the copywright upon the series , must have had their just rewards by now. It is a great shame the full episodes are not here to cheer us all , in these dire times.
I remember watching the show most every episode but I don't remember all the musical numbers this one , Oklahoma , and Harry doing life has been good to me are there any more because they are great.Don't make shows with this kind of writing and acting anymore. Your ribs hurt from laughing after watching 3rd rock.
And Mary's reaction is priceless: repulsed at first, then flattered! One of my faves!
"What the hell's going on out there?" Just absolutely hilarious.
NOTHING MR RAFTNERRRR!
LMAO poor Mary. Nobody prepared her for the Solomons.
I watch this scene whenever I feel sad. Comedy gold.
Yea she had a hard life in her early years, when she finally settled down at a good job Dick came in a turned her world into a nightmare.
@@masterzombie161 As if I could laugh any harder after seeing this, then I read your comment. You. Nailed. It.
I was laughing so hard I was crying at this scene , esp when the family came around the tree. This show was SOO Funny! John Lithgow is hysterical!
Lennette Octaviani

I laughed so hard, I almost died! 😆
👍🏽
Every single episode had me in stitches. My husband & i did a re-run binge watch a few years ago & laughed so hard as if we were seeing it for the first time. Wonderful.
This whole scene lives rent free in my head.
The combination of Harry playing the trombone and the neighbor yelling is one of the funniest things ever
and did Jane curtain do a shout out to her SNL friend, Gilda, by yelling "Nothing, Mr Radner!"
This show is timeless comedy gold. Standing ovation to the cast and the crew. The acting, the writing, everything...this show is comedy Genius 🤣
This was a terrific show. My favourite character was Tommy and you could see that he had big talent even then.
It was quite a switch when he played a bad guy-"What, are you calling me a liat?"
kate baxter
Yeah, he’s wonderful in this show. I’ve been seeing him in things since he was little. He grew up to be quite talented and handsome. Seems like a young man with a good head on his shoulders too.
was? it still is
Yes, Joseph was so young & so mature & talented at his tender age.
I think the show's MVPs are Jane Curtain and Simbi Khali. How they observe this craziness and keep straight faces without cracking up on screen is quite an impressive feat.
Nothing would be possible without their reactions, how in the world they keep straight faces is a huge part of the show's charm.
*_One of the best shows ever!!_*
This was my shit growing up.
when ever I need a real laugh I watch this show!! They don't make them like this any more
I watch it now all day
Example?
They all must have had so much fun doing this show, it really shows. No need for laugh tracks because it really is funny.
One of the funniest things for me about this scene is that it's from the episode where Sally gets invited to a school dance, but discovers she can't dance AT ALL, then when she tries to be Italian, all of a sudden she's got rhythm!
Jane Curtin made this show. Her reactions as Mary always cracked me up.
She was always like "wtf?" then she would be like "this is great "
Jane has the ability to put her persona into her characters that she plays without being like Jack, Sly, or Arnold where they basically play themselves.
Allen M. Quinn
I think French Stewart stole the show.
This show will never get old 😂👌
I love Third Rock from the Sun!!
Particularly now, this is one of the best and most underappreciated episodes of the series.
We love 3rd Rock From The Sun here in the UK. I used to watch it with my family on BBC Two when I was a child and then ITV2 repeated it when I was about 12/13! Then a few years ago Channel 4 had it on in the morning. One of my favourite programmes ever! THE DEEP EXAGGERATED ITALIAN ACCENT THE LONG PAUSES IN BETWEEN AND THE OUTFITS THE FOUR OF THEM HAD ON MAKES IT ALL MUCH MORE HUMERUS
One of the biggest mistakes NBC made cancelling 3rd Rock after only six seasons. I want my four to six more seasons. Brilliant show!
The cops they cannot thwart my passion! I will stand right here till your pack of wild dogs should chase me away!
this is one of my favorite shows!!! and anyone here actually Italian besides me
Ava Wolf
I’m Italian! I especially LOVE this scene! I think this entire episode is delightful! I wonder if it would offend people these days? People are so easily offended.
Such a brilliant ensemble cast, absolutely perfect together!
I can still remember when this premeired for the first time. My entire family and I were laughing so hard 🤣 Such an amazingly funny show
Hands down one of the best shows ever
Luckily I had it on tape so I could watch it over and over---and I sure did. When Tommy, Harry and Sally came out from behind the tree, I nearly fell off my chair laughing. Magical timing, magical everything.....
This was by far and away the best American sitcom of all time
3rd rock is one of the finest sitcoms in history. They cancelled it way too soon.
Better quit before jumping the shark
We do a sing along during our no-talent variety show at a retreat I attend each year. "That's Amoré" is one of our favorites, along with "Ghost Chickens In The Sky". Sally was getting down haha. Love that character.
One of the best episode
The best 2 minutes hands down. !
When Lord Farquaad tries to serenade to a princess...
Then gets chased by a pack of dogs. Or I this case. A dragon.
the casting for this series was so perfect. I wish it would come on reruns one of these days....
Love this episode, so funny!
So funny, especially since I am Italian. It really is the language of amore!
First time I ever saw John Lithgow do comedy before that his character's in films were mainly mad bad guys, it was then I knew not only was he a great actor but had great comedic timing.
Genius.
I never get tired of this show😁
I freaking LOVE Jane Curtin. That is all.
Same here. Such a great actress. I'll NEVER understand why she wasn't nominated for Supporting Actress. She should have won one like John and Kirsten.
I think she will in this year’s Oscar’s for her role in “Can You Ever Forgive Me?.” She really stole that movie.
That ignorant slut?
Her reactions are priceless. The actress that plays her was really good
Jane Curtin - She's awesome
If you wanna see more of her - she was in the original cast of Saturday Night Live
(from 1975 - 1980)
This is one of my favorite scenes 😂😂😂
Best show ever.
This was one of the funniest scenes ever filmed, right up there with the Thanksgiving turkey scene in WKRP in Cincinnati.
_Footage of Italy’s invasion of Greece, circa 1940_
this should be apart of a try not to laugh challenge!
2019? Still hilarious 😁😆😆
John Lithgow and Dick Solomon are legends...one of the best comic series ever...they really dont make them like that anymore...90s good old days
They are all so good actors. Still this show is full situations from my own life.
Qué escena tan cómica y estos actores son especiales y espectadores y la comedia es muy buena.
Los escritores se lucieron con estos personajes..
Simplemente extraordinaria comedia. 😊🇨🇷
That is one of my favourie scenes from the whole collection.

Whomever owns the copywright upon the series , must have had their just rewards by now. It is a great shame the full episodes are not here to cheer us all , in these dire times.
They have it for free on peacock!
I remember watching the show most every episode but I don't remember all the musical numbers this one , Oklahoma , and Harry doing life has been good to me are there any more because they are great.Don't make shows with this kind of writing and acting anymore.
