This is one of those sitcoms where you can just tell that the actors were having the time of their life doing comedy. Their love for the work is evident in every scene, but especially this one with these three actors. They each shine individually, but also as a collective comedy troupe. It’s brilliant. One of the most underrated shows of all time.
And the funniest thing of this scene is, that it's not even in slow motion, they're only just moving slow xD I love the part where Nina just rolls her eyes hahhaha she's all like "ugh here we go again -_- "
Ikr :) Nina is just like, 'oh hell no, Dick'. Just imagine how much fun this scene must have been to film :) Great comedy imaginations on the writers' parts. Where do they even get an idea like that from?! (i.e. it will be hilarious for them to just pretend they are moving in slow motion). Lol!
@@janeswurld wow looking back at my earlier comment, I realize it came off as insensitive and I'm sorry about that. I think I called her that because at the time when I just discovered this show, I was still learning their names and didn't know hers cause I hadn't really seen her in some of the episodes so I just called her that. :/ i cringe at myself sometimes
Season 1 & 2 of 3rd Rock have to be the funniest seasons ever for a Comedy series. I have never died laughing so much like I did watching those seasons.
I'm way late here but either I believe it's this version of it "Umbrellas of Cherbourg" -Peter Breiner Symphonic Pop Orchestra, go to the 2:12 mark and it's spot on :)
I emailed Ben Vaughn, who was in charge of the music for a few seasons, asked him about it and this was his reply: "Wow. I’m not sure who that is. A lot of times I would hire a piano player to come in and play a piece and then add orchestration real quick. That’s probably what happened here but I’m not sure. The production schedule was maddening so it’s hard to remember details. Sorry." So the bad news is that there's probably no independent recording of this rendition. The good news is that it was still possible to make a living as an unknown musician in Hollywood in 1996. Come in, play for a day, get paid, go home, come in the next day and do it all over again. Earn a 9-to-5 check playing your chosen instrument isn't so bad. Of course, that was in the days when shows still had theme songs.
Seriously, the chemistry between John Lithgow and Jane Curtin was just FABULOUS. The two of them together is pure magic :)
Yes!! Beautiful!!

Easily one of the greatest scenes of 90's television ever aired.
The fact that they didn't break out laughing is unbelievable!
Jonathan Larsson you can see Mary almost laughing lol
No way did they do this in one take. They HAD to have been laughing their heads off before this🤗
Nina did at the end 😂❤
The look on Nina's face is priceless :)
This series is a medicine for everything
This is how I'm going to greet people I haven't seen in awhile.
That look on Mary's face "Oh my God! What will he do to me this time!" 🤣

This scene alone worth a million bucks.
A billion for the "MARY!". 😂😂😂😂
This is the greatest bit in tv history and you can’t tell me otherwise 😂

The novelty of their relationship was amazing, this is still my favorite 3rd rock clip. Highly recommend searching for the rubber pants scene also.
I was watching this episode a while back. I was laughing so hard at this bit.
He had me at *MARY!!* 😂😂😂😂😂
She'd only been away at a conference for a few days, lol.
what's the name of this scene in this episode?
I know. Poor Dick. What a goofy bastard🤣
I just stumbled across this and I just died of laughter omg
MAAAAARY!!!!!
I love it when sitcoms keep it fresh.
*This was probably into the 3rd or 4th season of just, flat out HILARITY!
Season 1 episode 7
MARY!!!!! YOU CAME BACK!😂😂😂😂😂
Ladies, get yourself a man who is this excited when you come home, even if you've only been at work for seven hours.
It's all fun and games until HR learned about this! 🤣
Come on, it's the 90s. :D
Tried this and people are just not cooperating
This is one of my best memories 👍😄
not going into slow mo but acting out the slow mo is so damn funny hahaha
This is one of the best scenes of Dick and Mary!!!
Watching the whole show again it’s free on Tubi tv.
When you see your best friend again after summer break.
OMG this is gold!😂
Her face at 0:30 is priceless.
It's from the episode Mary came back
I can’t believe people want to cancel this scene
2x speed and they still look a little slow
I'm certain it's an instrumental of "I Will Wait for You"-- don't know who performs it here, but check out Connie Francis' version :)

@rosanelda24 yeah, and that's the beauty of it :)
what episode is this from
Anyone feels bad for the poor assistant 😂
Anyone knows which rendition of "I will wait for you" is playing in this scene? Props tho the one who can tell me the artist.

what song is this?
This was, and it still is funny.
But idiots nowadays will call this sexual harassment.
