  • bit.ly/CDBabyGroover --- Before anyone falls in love with your music enough to share, they'll have to be intrigued enough to press play in the first place. And before that can happen, you'll have to get them to NOTICE your music... through some form of music promotion.
    In this video, I'll walk you through a tool I used to get my song - a song I'd released 10 months prior, btw - onto 37% of the playlists I pitched to. Not only that, the tool also made it simple to FIND and CONTACT curators, influencers, and playlisters, and GUARANTEE they hear and consider my music (or I'd get my money back).
    It's called Groover. Check out the video to see how it works, how effective it was for my music, and how you can use it no matter your budget!
    When you try Groover, use the coupon code GROOVERCDBABY to save 15% on your first campaign. Get started at bit.ly/CDBabyGroover

    Well done Chris, 40%!. I used this a couple of weeks ago as well as Submit Hub. Grover turned out more successful but I should’ve spent the time listening to the various playlists before going ahead. I got 6 out of 30 shares and i can totally see why I got accepted by those that shared and rejected those that didn’t. The most common response was “love the song but doesn’t fit my playlist “. I would say accurately choosing your genre specific to your song is the most vital part. I will be using it again.

      Thanks Stuart! Agreed. It's worth the time to investigate each curator's playlist, social, website, whatever else, before pitching. Just to target as closely as possible. Glad you had a good experience. Cheers.

    Heard you mention Groover on the DIY musician podcast and decided to try it out. I got the same result, I pitched to 11 curators and got added to 3 playlists and 2 blogs! It took like 60 min of quickly checking the playlists I submitted with and it cost almost nothing! In comparison, about 50 submissions to a... competitor resulted in zero playlists and mostly useless feedback

    This service looks VERY tempting. It seems like the way to go, but I also agree with what was said in the video - the more upfront legwork, the higher the chance of success. I will for sure be using this when I release my new album. I'm just not quite sure how much or how little to invest in it.

      The nice things about Groover are, first, it's affordable PER curator. I think it comes to a couple USD per pitch, something like that (their exact prices and packages are listed on the site, plus you can save 15% with our coupon). But also, you don't have to do it all in one big pitching campaign. Pitch to a few and see the results. Like it, and have a bit more budget? Pitch to some more. You can essentially duplicate your campaigns and pitch to new curators each time.

    I've used Groover a few times now. My acceptance rate there is about 40%. On Submithub, it's about 1%. Just my personal experience, but it's definitely a better platform for my music.

    Hey Chris, thank you so much for this in-depth content! It's hard to see distributors uploading so much information about music marketing.
    Regarding pitching songs, I have a question about this and PRO publishing. Does the CDbaby PRO publishing also cover this type of process? Does CDbaby pitches songs to journalists and playlists or should I also do this process by myself? Thanks!

    • @cdbabyvideo
      @cdbabyvideo  Рік тому +1

      Pro Publishing is publishing admin, helping you collect songwriter royalties. It doesn't involve any kind of marketing or pitching, so that stuff would still be up to you as the artist/label - though we do try to help out by providing tools and partnership deals along the way. (Such as this Groover coupon, free tools through Show.co, etc.) And thanks for watching; glad our content has been helpful. Let us know how it goes if you use Groover for playlist pitching. Cheers.

    Used Groover, Submithub and Musosoup. The more competitive portals you submit to, the higher engaged, better "quality" playlists you get. I got on several (enough for this opinionated post) playlists on Groover, but not many people engaged with those playlist. By contrast, Submithub is harder to get on, but playlists I got on exploded the projects I had land on those playlists. It's easy to capitalize on vanity. Artists are vain, beware of those that sell you rose tainted mirrors - it doesn't pay to have Mama tell you're very talented. Just my 2.48570 cents (Cause you know ... inflation and sterf.)

      From what I could tell, Groover's network focused on a more diverse and global roster of curators. Not sure about the exact overlap though. And yeah, try it out! Thanks for watching.

    • @MissionMan
      @MissionMan Рік тому +2

      There is some overlap, but not much. I'd say 10% of the curators I submitted to on Groover were also on Submithub. My acceptance rate on Groover is about 40%. On Submithub, it's 1%.

    Hi, I am making music in a specific language - Bulgarian, that only 10 million people understand. For a songwriter like me it is very important to deliver the message of my song to my listeners and I don't see any Bulgarian curators or influencers that could help me on Groover :/ Is it still possible to take advantage of this service or it will probably harm my Spotify profile?

    • @cdbabyvideo
      @cdbabyvideo  Рік тому

      I think it's worth taking a close look at all the curators' language preferences for sure. You may find that there are some playlisters who are happy to place good music even if they don't understand the lyrics, or on playlists that focus on broad national or language diversity. I suppose that COULD put you at risk of ending up on a passive-listening playlist where your song gets tolerated, skipped, or ignored (to address your Spotify algo concern), but..,. I'd also assume that anyone listening to such a playlist would also appreciate the music for its own sake and maybe just as likely to love, save, share the song.

  • @anythingspossiblemusic
    @anythingspossiblemusic Рік тому +2

    Groover was like £2 a submission to have you music listened. I didn't rate it personally but that might be because they didn't like it.

    • @cdbabyvideo
      @cdbabyvideo  Рік тому +2

      Yeah, i think it's important to stress that what you're paying for with Groover is guaranteed access and consideration by curators, not guaranteed results/placements. They streamline the process of research, pitching, and attention.
      Anything that guarantees results in the realm of music promo and PR is usually to be avoided, not just because it could be outright scammy, but also the placements would be low quality and have no impact (or sometimes even negative impact in terms of algorithmic traction on streaming platforms).
      With Groover, the question comes back to the most basic and important one: Does this individual person like this particular song enough to share it.
      Which is why I felt confident trying it out.

    Doesn't paying to get on playlists go against Spotify's terms?

    • @cdbabyvideo
      @cdbabyvideo  Рік тому +1

      With Groover, you're not paying to guarantee you'll get on a playlist. You're paying to guarantee you'll get the attention of curators. They'll consider your music for an opportunity, but are under no obligation to place your songs on their playlists. You definitely SHOULD avoid any services that guarantee placements, plays, etc.

    With amazing intellectual songs like: "you think you the sh$t but are only a Far* t by LIL Spice and that said "artist" being courted by the music industry as royalty......There is no wonder that independnat artists are struggling to get any kind of recognition at all. I suppose that if I write them most foul, disgusting hip hop song about feces, masturbation and murder, then I may have a chance to hit the bigtime. (sarcasm) I think I will just continue on making MY music that I love and be happy. Blessings and cheers from Australia.
