Just as a heads up, prior to unplugging the drain plug make sure to begin the removal of the oil filter housing first. Don't completely remove it but simply untighten it to where you can lift it up slightly to allow the oil housed it in to seep out. Saves from any mess and allows the oil to drain thoroughly.

And plastic oil pan LOL. I was shocked, but I guess not really surprised. Seems like most manufacturers are going to a FRP material for basically everything. I mean if it works, it works, right? :/

I knew about the plastic oil pan, but a plastic drain plug is a serious cheap part on Volkswagen.
