I bought this for my mom’s birthday as well as a retirement present. I’m learning how to use the machine so I can surprise her with a cup of coffee
Hope you enjoy it!
Thank for the review on the machine.
I was going to buy one of these, but I've seen several videos now of this & the machine does't seem to produce very good crema. An absolute must for an espresso machine
You are welcome!
The manual recommends using full fat milk to get a good crema
Very helpful video, I have the same model in blue. However, with my machine, no water or steam comes out. Im pretty sure I’m doing everything correctly but it just doesn’t seem to pull any water through from the tank. Any ideas?
It's a very impressive machine for the money.
I thought so !
Great video. Just got mine today.I am so happy to find this video. It is really boring to read the instructions. Thank you very much.
Glad it was helpful!
I don’t understand instructions I’m better seeing it being used
Great video mate
Thanks 👍
Great vid. How soon before it’s good to use again? Also does the wand take long to heat up?
Under a minute to reheat up. Water tank volume is only thing that slows down multiple pours.
Can I ask how much water you use for an espresso.? And can the machine be used for normal cup of coffee???
Good video as I have very similar machine but I struggle to get the right blend or water coffee.
The best way is to buy a specific espresso cup and then fill it to about half an espresso and yeah you can use it for a normal coffee if you need to microwave the milk or use the steamer to froth the milk to add it to an espresso, which will give you a latte
Thanks for video! So it makes Espresso as a base drink then? Can you make a latté and cappucino by just adding extra milk then?
Yes you can!
@@mgtracey thanks!
Just curious, at coffeeshops the machine chooses the amount of water for the type of coffee, how do you know when to stop the water.
same problem facing
bit of trial and error required.@@noshinaqvi3192
I would suggest around just below 1/2 measuring cup (around 110ml or so)
I found for a cup that's 300 ml size that you need to spoons of coffee. So that works out 1 spoon = 150ml. Imo hope this helps
Great video , very helpful .i have exactly same model in black for christmas, not used it yet. Do you know what the little flip up lever on filter handle is for? Cant see anything about it in the instruction book. Thanks.
Weird me neither !!
I have the same model and believe the latch is to stop the filter piece falling out when you empty the used grounds out!
How long from a new start do you wait for temperature to get up to coffee symbol
Usually a couple of minutes
Hi, nice tutorial. I have a Swan retro pump 15 Bars coffee machine. I bought it about three ya. I have now an issue with the amount of water coming out when I make a coffee and it keeps leaking for a little too long after I turn it off: any suggestions? I will appreciate your help, if you can obviously. Many thanks in advance. I have cleared it regularly.
It needs to be decalcified as I think limescale has built up inside
@@mgtracey thanks for your reply . I have cleaned it regularly with a specific descaling product also, I forgot to mention that it looks like the temperature stays high ( according to the analog display) long after I have turned the machine off. Should I get a new one? I haven’t been able to find someone able to fix it and, as a Italian man, I NEED my espresso 😂😂. Many thanks again.
How do you know when is enough water given machine does not stop. Thank you
Trial and error based on your taste 👅
did you find it hard to put the handle on? i have this exact machine and its very difficult to put on
Yes you need a fair but pressure, but it’s to make sure the join is pressure tight .
Do you know if it's safe to put the changable filters in the dishwasher to clean? I've been looking for info everywhere even on swans own website and says nothing about it only says not to put the actual funnel in the dishwasher. If anyone knows anything about it let me know it's driving me nuts lol tia
Yes at 30 degrees
My coffee machine did not react on any buttons, she green light and press coffee button nothing happened
My milk frother sometimes works, most of the time it doesn't. When it works, it's great. Wouldn't recommend

Hi! I got my machine today. Do you know what could be the reason that there is still water in the filter when I take out the handle. Ie the grounds are not dry and compacted like yours when I take it out to clean. It's still very watery.
Thanks ☕
That is how it works so the ground source heat impacted dry when they go in. There is water on top and they are wet when they come out. They’re ready to go straight in your food waste bin.
When you put the filter in the handle thingy what is the shallower part for?
Smaller portions
@@mgtracey I put an ese pod in yesterday and only water came through? I’m completely new to this so I’m sorry for the questions x
@@user-rg2sj1qi4v hey 👋 only coffee grounds should be put in to these single and double portion metal filters - not the actual pod... maybe you can open the pod and pour the contents into the filter?
Hi has anyone made a flat white coffee with these machines
I’ve just bought one to make special coffees like that. I can let you know.
I just bought one yesterday! I’m rubbish at following instruction manuals so going to give it round 2 after watching a couple UA-cam videos. Once I get some good quality coffee it will have true potential !! One of my mistakes was not releasing any water from the steam wand before heating up the milk
But to answer your question, yes I made a flat white with it 😅
@@kittyktkat97 just don't froth the milk!
Yes you need to heat the milk and froth to the side but not too much. Bang the cup or jug the milks in to remove bubbles and then stir the jug/cup, it's all in the technique. I used to work at Costa:) made many flat whites!!
Why is my coffee coming out really foamy??
Make sure you tap down coffee grinds to correct pressure before brewing .
Thank you will do 👌👌
Just bought one. In says in the manual that after 20 seconds the machine wont make a noise whilst pouring a drink. Mine continues to make a noise after 20 seconds. Anyone else noticed this please?
Mine is the same - not a quiet option !
@@mgtracey thanks for letting me know!! 👍🏻
I didn't see what button you pressed to start the coffee n stop it. Is it the cup button?
yes
Mine sprays everywhere, every time i use it
Just make sure that when you lock the handle in with the coffee in the end that you push it really tight
I wish this was the case 🥹😫
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Waaay too much effort pre and post coffee
Sorry for that
The prep is nothing compared to people that love coffee. The prep, or more so the grind and tamper is the most important stage.
You do this for the entire love of fresh ritualistic coffee, otherwise you get a pod machine. 😁 My favourite are the ones that have a been grinder in them all as one, just because I love the sound, freshness and no work :) hehehe but i think once I get my skill up on this it will be wonderful in my routine
