Hey Commenters. The channel creators clearly tried to rush this video out with a quick turnaround so we could stay informed on May's Plan B even though they didn't get their usual weekend break to produce a new one. The people who create this channel have other jobs or attend school. How about we cut them some slack? Or I don't know, pay them enough money to devote to these videos full time so they can quit their jobs/school and focus on only this?
Don't like the second option? Then go with the first one: Cut them some slack.

cut them some slack? depends on what you mean with that. Quality changes should be called out, or we open the door for worse and worse quality content. So the creators should know. It is the content they decide on presenting. If what they show in that isn't up to a level we like, we unsub/stop watching. However before doing so by commenting they get a chance to change. i feel like a comment like yours adds very little value. It doesnt change what we get presented with. It only looks down upon those that give feedback. i would have preffered to see something like "hey we made some mistakes rushing this out. We dont do this for a living and wanted to keep you up to date. We seem to have overlooked some errors doing so." But hey that is just my opinion. Then i would take it as being heard and understand the issues.

So basically again a lot of talk, but no really action or solution.
May's entire plan B is to make changes to her deal in cooperation with other parties, however this is a fruitless endeavour and is in the end only something cosmetic ("see I reach out a hand, I am open for working together), but seein that most likely any of these changes will not be accepted by the EU, it is just posing to come to a solution, instead of actually working to a solution.
May's plan now is thus involving more parties into an already ended negotation. This is just absurd and is clearly just another way of kicking the can down the road (again).
At this moment there are only three real options possible (which can be reached in different ways):
    - revoking article 50 (either due to a referendum, the parliament voting for it or May caving ot remain however unlikely)
    - Accepting May's deal (practically impossible, seeing the enormous defeat. Maybe parliament would agree to it if the only other possibility is a no deal, so we won't know until somewhere near the end of march)
    - Leaving without a deal (basically doing nothing or not reaching a majority for another option in parliament in time)
Yet for some reason they keep focusing on something that isn't even an option: renegotiation.

Yep that's where we are , No deal ,, May/ EU ,, Revoke . As i see it no deal looks most likely now but as B day gets closer May/EU will gain ground also Revoke will also gain , it'll come down to can parliament force a revoke on Gov ? Or will May eventually scare MP's into her camp ?or will everyone miscalculate and we crash out ?

People don't seem to understand what a big concession the back stop already is on behalf of EU.
It is an insurance policy in case the Brits sign up to a deal with US or some other country whose standards are below that of EU and hence a great deal cheaper (which is what the main purpose of Brexit is) and want to sell it in EU avoiding inspection.

Renegotiation IS an option. It’s all part of negotiation to say it’s not! Why didn’t the EU want to remove the Backstop? It could lead to a hard border in Ireland, due to different customs. Well different customs happen with No Deal any way. Being pragmatic, it’s better to amend the withdrawal and agree it rather than having a hard border now, so push it down the road where we have a chance of agreeing a trade deal before it must happen!

Politics is different from you average job so I don't think saying "a lot of talk, but no real action" is fair too be honest. Simply speaking has a massive impact in politics, and the whole Idea of Brexit is daunting for any Politician. That''s why they keep talking because if they do then there can be some form of resolution between the two major parties. If you look at Theresa May's last few speeches compared to this one there was a LOT less heckling from the opposition, which in my eyes seems to suggest that both the right and left are starting to understand that decisions must be made as a collective whole, and that Theresa May will go through will it regardless, so they might as well come together to think of the best plan to do so. It's a small change (that should of happened months ago tbh) but a positive one none the least.

  • @Pining_for_the_fjords

Hasn't the EU already confirmed that a no-deal brexit would automatically mean a hard border in Ireland? May wants to rule out a hard border in Ireland, but not rule out a no-deal brexit. There's an obvious contradiction here. Something has to give.

  • @NicklasLinnemann

As a Danish Social Democrat, and even a tad further left leaning than the current SD party. I am surprised to agree with May upon her point regarding the second referendum, and how it would be a dangerous demonstration of how the UK handles referendums. Moreover, my agreement with May continues, as she discuss the social implications such a referendum would have upon society, and how it undermines the democracy present in the UK.
I am not a brexiteer, I fully support the EU, and sees myself as a globalist. However, if one thing goes above my belief in a united Europe, it is democracy and each country's sovereignty. The UK held a public referendum regarding membership in the EU, as we all know, the public wanted out by a slight majority. Can the process of which the campaigns and the entire referendum be criticized? Definitely, however, a referendum is direct democracy in its essence and disregarding that would be as if disregarding democracy as a whole.
I am deeply saddened to see the UK leave the EU, but that is how democracy works, and that I respect.
P.S. I wish the UK would stay and the entire referendum had not been held to start out, but we cannot travel back and avoid it. I respect the decision of those, whom I disagree with.

Leave campaign painted and promised so many different versions and visions of Brexit that it got the disenfranchised to vote for it. Great, but now those visions that are often incompatible with each other have split voters, MPs and other fractions to the point that there is no consensus for anything. Some have hardened their stance and others have switched camp since. So while the saga continues, the businesses are moving shop and there will be nothing to bargain with other than we are 60 odd million hungry consumers type market and you can sell us anything because we are desperate.

It's simple, the message of what leave meant has become distorted by our own politicians. Many thought leaving meant creating a deal to leave. That was incorrect. We were leaving anyway on 29th March, the deal was an opportunity to create an alternative free trade option to limit any problems between the EU and UK and create a new relationship. But the EU being the EU, they just want control and in this case took control. The UK should have refused and said: "This doesn't work. We're leaving, come back to us when you want to talk sense.". They'd have come running in the end if they wanted a deal.

Ireland/Northern Ireland is what will make any deal fail. There will hardly ever be a solution that pleases the four parties involved. The Irish, the Northern Irish, the UK governme (lol) and the EU want something the other party rejects. There can be no middle ground, someone will have to back down one way or another. All solutions are drastic. The Irish and NI don't want a physical border, but the NI wants to stay in the UK and not be treated differently than the other nations, yet they voted to remain. At the same time, the UK doesn't want free passage between the UK and the EU, meaning checks would be necessary between NI and I. What I don't know is how crazy the possibilty of a reunion is. I guess it's pretty high up, I've only seen one Unionist NI politician who was viciously pro-Brexit and avoided the question of the Good Friday Agreement.
Can people from NI tell me what they want to see happen? To me, they are the key to this whole shitshow.
Love from France, I wish all involved parties a peaceful Brexit, even though I believe such a thing is impossible 2 months before the fated day. The governme (haha) has cured me of my own procrastination.

The UK doesn't speak with one voice, and that is doubly true of Northern Ireland. I think of the UK as evenly divided between wanting (1) a Hard Brexit; (2) a Soft Brexit, and (3) to Remain in the EU. It's not that the UK doesn't know what is wants. For any option, two-thirds of the country disagree. Then you get Northern Ireland with its difficult history between the two communities, Unionist and Republican. NI is as divided as the rest of the UK. Unionist tend to be more pro-Brexit and might even support a Hard Brexit. Republicans tend to be anti-Brexit and virtually none would support a Hard Brexit. Since NI will be the only land border between the UK and EU, the risk of Brexit introducing the need for a border is very emotive. Republican bitterly oppose a land border in Ireland, and would tolerate an Irish Sea border if necessary. Unionist bitterly oppose an Irish Sea border, and would tolerate a land border in Ireland if necessary. Politically NI is a bit of a mess at the moment, since the devolved NI assembly collapsed two years ago and shows no hope of being restored any time soon. Disagreement between the main parties (Sinn Fein and the DUP) on Brexit, has been added to some other unrelated issues. You should not think of the DUP as necessarily reflecting the views of the Unionist community, they reflect the more extreme views; the same could be said for Sinn Fein. As for a United Ireland, I would argue it is extremely unlikely in the foreseeable future. It is a potent topic right now, because the demographics between Unionist and Republican are getting close to 50/50, as well as Brexit. The problem is that with the devolved NI assembly collapses, rhetoric from both political parties has become more toxic, and people had been pushed back to their communities, rather than finding common ground. A United Ireland, if it were to happen, will be a high risk process whenever it happens. At the moment, the risk of it being a complete disaster seems extremely high. I would suggest a referendum on a United Ireland will happen within the next 10 years, but is at least 5 years away.

@@iluvcamaros1912 Unfortunately the subtle genius of Saint George Mitchell and the Good Friday Agreement has been lost in the emotion of Brexit: "it is the birthright of the people of Northern Ireland to identify themselves and be accepted as Irish or British, or both." The GFA is open to interpretation, that's the very point of it. To Unionists it means, NI is British, always has been and always will be (they hope). To Republicans it means, NI might be British but that doesn't interfere with your life, you can travel from Derry to Dublin, as easily as to Belfast. One of the many sad things about Brexit is a return to the black and white mentality of the 1980s in Britain, which I can only describe as Unionists are "loyal British people" whose concerns count, while Republicans are "disloyal British people" who don't. There is no black and white in NI, only shades of grey.

Given a choice between illegally living in a similarly rich country like Germany or Sweden, and living illegally in Britain (threat of deportation, which can also involve confiscation of income earned illegally), why would an EU citizen choose the latter? This legal immigration seems to be the main focus for British anti-immigrant rhetoric.

  • @midnight1672

This is so silly on so many levels.
First, she's right in that there probably is no majority for a second referendum in the parliament... the same can be said about **any** other proposal including no deal, her deal or remaining in the EU. That is exactly the problem here. There are more than two opinions and none of them have a majority behind them and not enough people are willing to change their mind on it for that stalemate to resolve itself.
Secondly, if by some miracle she managed to actually get a deal that a majority of people would agree on (which I doubt for the above reasons), it would still have to be accepted by the EU. It's one thing to ask for something, it's another one to actually get it. These is a trade _negotiation_ not the dictating of terms to another party. Any deal that might have even a remote chance of getting a majority in parliament, would probably be so far removed from anything the EU would agree to as to be completely worthless.
So what does that all lead to? Unless the parliament manages to change the default scenario for what happens if no agreement can be found by the 29th of March, all signs indicate towards a no deal Brexit. If no deal is what happens if nothing else happens and everything else (including no deal ironically) can't get a majority, that's just what's going to happen automatically.

Those who don't see that are obviously ignorant of what a boarder and international trade imply.
Except those who claim unsing technology which is crazy talk and has already been refused are welcome to provide a solution that does not include remaining in the Custom Union.
Remaining in the Custom Union is least that Bresiteers need to compromise on for this whole shit storm to die down and as everyone seems to agree on we can "Get on with it" and bring the side together.

Is his plan to take over, talk to the exact same EU reps, get the exact same deal, just in a different formatting, and repeat the exact same cycle again?

    • @Crissov

Corbyn / Labour would have entered the negotiations with different premises and constraints. They would probably have ended up with a deal that kept the UK in a Customs Union with the EU, which might have failed in Parliament as well. Itʼs now too late for that, though, or way too early.

Leave with no deal, this is what was voted for by 17.4 million people, the deal only serves to tie us into the EU and as a weaker member than we are already, what they are doing right now trying to negotiate a deal that means we don’t really leave is completely wrong, this and those that support this is the sole reason why the country is screwed, support the referendum result people support the winning side and get behind our country and be brave enough to leave on no deal, we can then start to re build and strengthen our unions un fettered in a way that benefits our country, we have to put our own house in order before we can think of helping others out,
