It can't be overstated how important the English Civil war was in establishing the idea that the legitimacy of government stems from the consent of the people to be governed, not some divine right.
That's odd.....the Democrat Party seems to think it can rule without trustworthy elections, and can come down like a sledgehammer on anybody that says otherwise. Pretty disgusting if you ask me. Our "president" is a disgrace.
That Charles' letter to Prince Rupert was "badly drafted" was the understatement of the year ! It was so full of contradictions and enigma that it is no wonder that Rupert couldn't make head or tail as to what was required of him. When one considers that his whole cause depended on Rupert clearly understanding his orders, it shows how scatter-brained Charles could be, and very often was. And this was the man who considered himself to be unfailing in every way !
He was not talented enough to effectively wield the sort of absolute power he considered his by divine right , you could draw parallels between him and Czar Nicholas II .
Luckily, Laud was executed in 1645. Earls of Manchester and Essex made strategic mistakes after the victory at Marston Moor. Fairfax took over. New Model Army proved decisive.
Cant help but think, That Prince Rupert on reading that letter from the King. Was a 1640's version of "WTF..! Am I to split in two..!?" Great Video..! Cheers All, Kim in Oz. 😎
Why is the independent narrator calling one side 'the allies'? You may as well say 'the goodies' (you) V the baddies (anybody that disagrees with you). That ay history you mug. You're everything wrong with history my mon.
The Bishops' War was never taught about in school history classes. The Scots' victory shows what happens when soldiers are highly motivated by a popular, common cause.
When King Charles 11 returned from exile in 1660, he ordered the 59 men who had signed his fathers death warrant to be arrested. Three, Whalley, Goffe and Dixwell fled to New England. Fours later the King sent one man to hunt them down. Based on fact my book, In the Name of the crown is that story and available on Amazon and Kindle. There is a facebook page of the same name and very informative pods on UA-cam, In the Name of the Crown by Anthony Matthews, a historical back story, a man hunt.
I just listened to what was going on with our brothers . The Muslim in our nieborhood. Can't believe that the English, or Americans don't even know the history. Utube it.
Man this is such a great carb recipe

@@SNP-1999 Any time! Wrong time is with the tax-free parasites sold continually by either stupid, or bribed media to stupid public.

I've played that section three times and I still haven't got a clue what the hell he was rambling on about. Thank god the narrator explained it.
Yeah Charles was a bit if a riddler eith an ego, it's doubtful that he knew his own mind.
He was not talented enough to effectively wield the sort of absolute power he considered his by divine right , you could draw parallels between him and Czar Nicholas II .
@SNP1999: Ironic, eh...?
Truly the letter of a man with no control or sense. He truly believed in divine right. The divine thought otherwise..
A truly ACCURATE account of the Battle of Marston Moor....I cannot praise it highly enough...excellent, and thorough...without bias....

Marston Moor was the US Civil War's Gettysburg, I wish it was better known by all English speaking people.
Stewie Griffin is a born narrator. You can hear the giddy pride in his voice each time he mentions Rupert.
Why? That guy was a failure.
@@joellaz9836 Lol! Inside joke, Joella. Try googling 'Stewie Griffin and Rupert'.

The Stuarts were terrible kings.
I get the feeling pikemen had a much better appreciation of the dangers of running away from cavalry.
