Perfect timing with this episode! I am going through a bit of a rut and the advice to; "do something out of your comfort zone" and "getting a sketchbook" seem to be working so far! Thanks guys
What i really like about your podcast guys is that, compared to others, this is not only valuable for extremely enthusiastic newcomers who will eventually face the truth (hard at times) of the industry, but also for people who have been aroundfor quite some time, who have passed the "adrenaline rush" and are now considering all this from a different point of view, probably directed more inwards, more part of a personal journey if you want. I hear maturity, honesty and being down to earth. I like it. So thank you guys for another valuable episode.
Thanks so much Marco! That was exactly one of our goals when starting this podcast, so we're really happy to hear that you got something useful out of it! :)
You guys have a knack for showing up with the right subject matter at the right time. I started a mentorship last week and want to wring every drop of growth out of it I can, so this whole episode will simmer in the back of my mind while I practice my homework. Another good one! Thank you!
Hello ! Just a quick comment as I experienced some issues twice trying to listening to your (incredibly valuable) podcast in noisy environment, maybe try to get a gate compressor on Jan's Mic or an overall compression over the final sound, as Jan voice can sometime be a bit lower than emmanuel :) Thanks a lot for everything, Your takes are always really interesting and helpful for young artists :)
Thanks for the feedback! All episodes from episode 18 onward have separately recorded audio tracks (which we really should have done from the beginning :) ), so hopefully you'll notice an improvement in sound quality (from Eman especially!) and hopefully also audio levels!
I love your video style and your content! I'm sure you are gonna grow so fast in UA-cam platform, I wish you all the best! Personally, I'm a Spanish dancer living in India since more than 4 years, and being a freelancer here is kinda challenging, that's why I'm so much into this kind of content. Big hug from Mumbai! 🌟
SUGGESTION: this is a common topic i always hear, does equipment matter? Especially a drawing tablet. Then what equipment do you recommend if you want to work your way as a professional.
as a man who born poor & who do not even go to college or art school, with no " iwas lucky" factor..i just need keep running and learning, just make simple : stay silent,u learn or u dead.. since u got no money.
I've been pushing my art skills and trying to learn more in digital painting and 3D modelling. I can model/sculpt in Z-Brush and paint in Photoshop but I struggle to find the right way to combine the two. Do you know anyone who clearly shows a good method for combining 3D work from Z-Brush or Maya to use in Illustration/concept work? All I see when I try to search is endless speed-paints with music over the top. Everything is far too fast without any explanations and so it's difficult to understand the process and techniques to meld the pieces into your scenes.
I think there's some 3D-to-2D paintover demos/explanation in many of Jan's tutorials. Jama Jurabaev also has a tutorial called "Painting Over 3D Renders" that touches on this specifically.
Thanks yeah I show some of that but more for environment related stuff, same as Jama. For Zbrush I guess you need more creature/character type of tutorials. But honestly there is no "right way". Whatever gives good results is ... well good. Some people prefer more 3D, some more 2D.
Just found this podcast, I hope the other episodes are as nice as this one
Love this one, fantastic advice !
Thanks Finn!
Thanks Finnian!!!
11 minutes in and Jan brings up Condorman! Classic.
hahahaha, yes!! One of the key movies of my childhood! :)

Haha awesome! I'm sure you'll be getting through it just fine! :)

Hahaha, I hope its not too boring to listen though!
great podcast! really enjoyed. just wish Jan didn't cut Emmanuel off every now and then, but really good none the less.
Thank you! Yeah we're working on better listening, responding etc. It's not as easy as we thought. Hope we can improve with every episode!

Thanks for the suggestion! Have you listened to Episode 3? Maybe that could provide some answers!
My friend and I always ask each other the same question: "What do you really want to do?". We are still finding the answer.
honestly this is a life long search and it changes , enjoy the ride!
Yes indeed! I ask myself that every day :)
