  • Bubba Wallace became the first Cup driver suspended for an on-track incident since Matt Kenseth in 2015. Wallace's spotter Freddie Kraft, along with Brett Griffin, TJ Majors, and special guest Kaitlyn Vincie of FOX Sports discuss if they agree with the suspension and why NASCAR needs to keep the penalty the same going forward. Plus, hear what they think will happen when Wallace returns to the track at Martinsville.

There's wrecking someone intentionally, and then there's wrecking someone intentionally at the speeds at which he did, walking across a live track (wasn't a pit member just removed from the track for a similar incident), assaulting a driver on the infield as he climbs from his car, and defying a marshals' order and walking across the infield and not getting into the ambulance as instructed. That is unprecedented. Let's have a little intellectual honestly here bud.

Brandon, I'm in my 50s and have been watching Nascar my entire adult life. Those two and that incident was already a memory by the time I started watching. The fact you have to go back over 4 decades to a Nascar that doesn't even exist any more is telling. And that incident at Daytona happened after the race if I recall. So yeah, I'll stick to my comment. Bubba was unhinged. Unprecedented. And he got a slap on the wrist.

I do too cause KP is the most consistent person in the industry on this issue. Not because of anything specific to Bubba but because the culture and racing mentality has gotten out of hand. Intent wrecking should be a multi race ban ideally but sitting out a race should be the bare minimum. And if Bubba a popular driver gets suspended, then it better be Chase or any other mf who decided to be a brainlet on the track in that moment.

Wrecking someone on purpose wasn’t really what got him suspended. It was the way he did it. If he would have spun him in the corner on the left rear I doubt he’d be suspended at all.

But with these cars maybe not. You go into the corner and tap the left rear, the rear end spins out and starts to back up the track toward the wall. Which has proven to be the worst thing to happen in these cars. If it was the Older Generations I would agree with you. But until they fix the impact issue with the rear any intentional spinning which can cause the car to back into the fence should not be tolerated

The suspension wasn’t just for the crash but taking out Bell. NASCAR has a “ there’s a championship battle and you aren’t in it” mindset with playoffs drivers and look how hard they came down at Cole Custer just for slowing down at Charlotte to get Chase Briscoe. His actions affected the championship putting Bell in a must win situation.

I think it comes down to the drivers getting injured by an unsafe car. Minus that situation, I think it would have been chalked up to a "racing incident" like they used to. 2 drivers having their year ended for head injuries, 1 retiring early because of it, was definitely a factor. He should have known better, given the situation with the car. It was wreckless and more dangerous than it should have been (my jab at nascar).

They shouldn’t suspend drivers JUST for intentionally wrecking someone but when it’s something like right rearing someone at speed then yes it’s warranted. There needs to be a consideration as to the risk of danger caused by the drivers actions. For example I wouldn’t consider something like what Byron did to Hamlin an offense that would dictate a suspension. They need to make a line and hold it but not get carried away in the process.

At least his own spotter admits in a round about way Wallace drives with a chip on his shoulder. Ever driver does to some extent but clearly Wallace hasn't learned to harness it without resulting to violence or cowardly acts. Don't forget his childish act throwing water in the face of a driver as he is trying to recover from exhaustion.
I guess the funny part is how he acts like Wallace shuts up all the critics by driving to the front every weekend. Clearly that doesnt happen on a regular basis. Wallace has talent and now has a car to show it so it's probably best he shuts up and drives leaving his chips on the track and letting his performance do all the talking for him. Maybe he can learn from Busch and the troubles his actions and his mouth created him later in his career. And remember that was a guy who actually could win races regularly and had a championship to back it.

Freddy is so funny. I'm agree with him 💯. I know that some of race fan dislike Bubba Wallace pretty much. But I believe they need to be careful, because in next few races when fans gonna booed him, he gonna be like Kyle Busch in 2010s, like everyone says, "let's Kyle Busch be Kyle Busch," and I believe now they gonna be like "let's Bubba Wallace be Bubba Wallace," End Of Story.
Now about suspension, I disagree with suspended him for rest of the 2023 races season and also disagree with Kyle Petty because he lost his way. Do you remember that back in 1991 or 1992 Winston All-Star race or Winston 600 in Charlotte, NC that he spun Dale Earnhardt exiting turn 3 and in the front stretch almost close to the checker flag that he spun Davey Allison that injured him. Do you remember that Dale Jarrett spun Ryan Newman at Bristol, TN and put Kevin Harvick in tough situation for his playoff points for the championship runs. Do you remember back in 2007 Daytona 500 was Tony Stewart and Kurt Busch rivalry. Do you remember back in Texas in 2011 doing the Camping World Truck Series that Ron Hornaday, Jr. come up to Kyle Busch and send him up to the wall and Kyle Busch retaliates on that and NASCAR gave Kyle Busch a suspension from Nationwide Cup Series and Sprint Cup Series only in Texas. Do you remember back in Martinsville 2015, the rivalry between Joey Logano and Matt Kenseth that it's first started in Kansas that they battle for a wins and Joey Logano spun Matt Kenseth and in Martinsville, even though Matt Kenseth was probably 10 or 15 lap down want take his revenge on Joey Logano to spun him because I know Matt Kenseth want his payback and the roar of the fans love to see that and believe that is the most loudest cheers I have ever heard. And now in this situation between Bubba Wallace and Kyle Larson, when they entering turn 3 in Las Vegas Motor Speedway, Kyle Larson pass Kevin Harvick from the huge runs he had and you can tell that Kyle Larson was lifted exiting turn 3 and entering turn 4 and that make Kyle Larson's cars loose, Bubba Wallace don't lifted until he exiting turn 4, and that why Kyle Larson's cars body slammed Bubba Wallace's car to the wall.

I don't feel this suspension penalty was just based on Bubba intentionally hooking Kyle in the right rear. This has been a year where drivers are getting concussions with the new car, Bowman is still out, Kurt Bush's career was ended because of it. Drivers are complaining about the safety of the new car, couple that with the fact that they were racing on a high speed track going 160-180 mph. Then Bubba walks across a hot track, refuses medical attention..........there were a lot of things wrong with this incident that I feel caused Nascar to look at this just a bit differently. Frankly I feel he should have been parked the rest of the year or at the very least some monetary fines added in for the other infractions he committed. Nascar was easy on him.
