    Great video, I recommend saving before doing any landings then reload if you don't find a good build site so you don't have other landing spots saved on the planet. Makes it easier later when returning to your base.

      You can only have a max of 3 "Landing Zones" areas so while saving is the best way to handle this, you can instead try three locations at a time and then loop back to the original.

    Extractors work based on universal time. So if you wait on a planet with a very long day/night cycle a long amount of UT will pass which means your extractors will generate a lot of resources. 1 hour on Linnaeus 4b is about 7.5 hours of UT or about 1 day on Linnaeus is about a week of UT.
    One thing to note about that outpost is that since it's right between two biomes most of the resource patches are going to be on the very edge of the buildable area. You likely will only have enough space to fit one or two extractors for each resource. It's actually much more efficient to just build two outpost in seperate biomes and then link them together with a cargo link.

    • @Progress2Perfection

      My outpost on Linnaeus IV-B has 7 resource zones all completely inside the outpost beacon radius.

    for anyone who watched the video - the fact it shows you all the minerals while placing thr beacon does not mean you will find these mineable fields there. Since the terrain is not flat some areas will be squared off disabling you from building there. Also, once you place your beacon down you can choose between extractors to see how much of the field, e.g. Iron is inside your beacon's circle, cuz most probably it's just a tiny bit of it allowing you to place 1 extractor only which isn't really efficient. In my opinion it's better to focus on 2-4 minerals using your scanner to see how large the fields are.

    • @hullabaloo1081
      @hullabaloo1081 Рік тому +9

      Yeah but it is easier to use outpost becon as scanner than the scanner itself unless you're using mod. You can tell how much portion of mineable field you will have by using your brain, if its disappear after you walk an inch than its gonna be small if you not sure enough just place one, you can always remove it without losing anything

    • @mnspstudioLOST
      @mnspstudioLOST Рік тому +7

      This ^^^^
      You can just delete the beacon and move it 15 feet at a time to maximize the size of patches for the resources you need many extractors for at the cost of those you need few for. My first site on Bessel III-b produced 7 extractors of aluminum, 4 of iron, 3 cobalt, 3 platinum, and 1 nickel. It was plenty to start building my second outpost for He-3 and more aluminum/iron. Much more aluminum.

You'll spend hours flying and running around trying to get that holy grail spot. I've spent probably close to 60 hours alone doing outpost crap, and now I consider a spot good if it has he-3 and 2 other resources I want. He-3 being important as you won't need to ship it in from another place for your inter-system links.

      @fuzzball297 Рік тому

      Yeah you have a point. I did this “strategy” and wasted a lot of time looking for these spots on other planets, only to end up scrapping those outposts when a better combination came up. Some of the rare endgame resources are only on one planet, and end up having redundant resources with other outposts I had. The landing terrains are randomly generated, I would suggest checking a short span of the closest biome spilt and if it does look promising I would go to a new landing spot and try a new generation.
      I'm not sure if console has less generation of resource, I would hope it doesn't.
      But even myself I recently tried another 3 landing spots as I wanted a more flat base location and I found a 7 in 1 on the same planet/moon with a more flat beacon placement.
      I found that sometimes the biome spilt line can be a be wonky in its generation on a landing spot, so the best thing I've found is to land in a new spot and look at the terrain map when landing to see if it has a nice visible spilt.
      Remember you want to choose a landing spot as close as possible to where the biomes change names from Hills to Craters.
      Best of luck 👍

      I think the surfaces the game places you in when landing may be randomly generated based on the biomes.
      The main thing is to try to pick a landing spot as close as possible to the border between two biomes type.
      Then, use the show me "terrain map" to find where two different terrain types/biomes meet each other, then run along the line of where they meet until you get a good spot.

      Then use the show me terrain map to look for Craters and hills.
      If you can't see both Craters and Hills on the terrain map, I suggest landing in another spot as you may never find a good spot if the terrain/biomes didn't randomise nicely on that landing spot.

    Everyone wants to build on a planet with alot of sleep time but why not make your main base on it and setup outposts like this planet to transfer over there...

    • @kedolan4992
      @kedolan4992 Рік тому +1

      Because they want to setup one base to get lots of things quickly, instead of having to setup multiple bases, one of which is just a hub station. Especially since the inter-system transports require local He3 to build, and not all planets have that readily available.

    • @fuzzball297

      Extraction time is already very fast on this planet. The only reason to care about sleep time is when it comes time to sell. If you’re managing multiple outposts with interstellar cargo links (I have 16 at this point) you’re just asking for a huge clog of resources that stop your entire production line.

      The most important thing is to land right on the border between Hills and Craters
      So try to be really precise with the landing placement and land just when the biome changes names eg Crater > Hills.
      When you bring the scanner out once you have landed, it brings up a compass in the left bottom circle, North showing as the thicker white arrow.
      You can use the planet/moons resource map to decide which direction on the compass would be towards the closest biome eg. If you landed on a Hills landing spot with Craters biome above you on the resource map, you'd head north.
      Also, use the "show me" terrain map to look for Hill like or Crater like biome terrain then walk along a line of where they meet when searching for a spot.
      If still no luck on a good spot, you can try landing on different areas of the planet as long as the landing spot is as close as possible to the transition from Hills to Crater biomes.
      Then, look quickly on the terrain map or simply from the ships normal viewing angle before exiting it to see if you can find the change of biomes.
      Tip: Crater biomes have dark black like soil, and Hill biomes have Red sand like soil, you'll know you are at the change of a biome when the soil colour changes, it can also be a big benefit if the weather on the planet isn't bad when looking eg Sunny is best and the weather changes from time to time.
      Good luck.

      Just make sure the landing spot is right on the biome change from Hills to Craters.
      As soon as you land look at the (View Me) terrain map and look to see if you can see a clear terrain change, if not try a new landing spot as they are randomly generated, and some landing spots can just be poorly randomized.
