You’re in my mother land! I miss it

California is broke. Get over it and leave if you don’t like it fool. How about going back to Germany 🇩🇪
I'm by no means a rich man, but I know when my next hot meal is, I can take a hot shower when I like, roof over my head, a toilet to use, a warm bed to sleep in and hot and cold running water, so i'm always very grateful and feel lucky with what I have. I can't imagine what this is like 😢😢😔❤
I feel 100% more grateful after watching this video. The things in life, we take for granted. I wish i could open up my home to every single person that needs a warm bed, and a hot shower & meal. Life sucks. That could be any one of us in that position one day.

And then the city/counties go after the home owners for trying to fix their place up. Makes sense. Let the homeless destroy and build whatever they want, but the actually tax payers cannot do anything. No wonder why more people are homeless, you can do anything and not worry.

Need to change the sign to "Welcome To Lost Angeles".
Lived here for 12 years and in the past 5 or so things have really gone downhill for folks who are struggling. Meanwhile developers continue to build new and expensive housing that I don't know who can afford. It's a tragedy what's happening all around us in LA every day.
Im british and the same thing is happening here... no one can afford thousands a month in rent and then theres homeless outside everywhere
I don't think it's just LA it's around the world. I'm the UK just outside London and in a pretty affluent area and we're getting homeless people on the streets now in small towns not just the big cities yet there a new luxury flats going up everywhere and half of them are empty because they're unaffordable! In the States it'll be interesting to see how things change under Biden if they do change, I can only see things getting worse in the UK thanks to our corrupt Govt, lack of opposition and Brexit

It's more important for politicians to actually take action to fix this mess than to stress who is black, who is white, gay, straight, too rich too poor. This is how they don't tackle the real and serious issue of homelessness. They create false, petty non issues of who was born this color or that, what sex of what person can play what sport, who can go into what restroom. This homelessness is a real issue, not contrived.
Homelessness is a money maker for the city and state of CA.
Why would the politicians fix the problem? That would end their cash cow.
These monies are NOT going to help the homeless. It is going to NGO who launder most of the money back into the politicians pockets with "campaign contributions" or they give the politicians pass the "construction" of the shelters to their friends who build cheap crap and again funnel money back to the politicians.
Wake up..government is a huge racket and ALL politicians no matter what side of the aisle are corrupt and disgusting.

I randomly opened one of your videos today. Your filming is shocking. I took my girls to Venis Beach from Montana about 25 years ago. So different back then. You seem very seasoned with your work, but still have compassion in your voice.
Graffiti art? This is vandalism. If it was your property that got vandalized, you wouldn't call it art.
I guess but half those buildings are abandoned. Most of the new ones down here are pretty clean
I agree with you that graffiti on public property and things not owned by the individual who did that, is a crime. I don't know why they don't ban or stop the sale of spray paint. That would put a stop to that ugliness. I don't think most people would do it if they had to bring a gallon of paint and a brush to do it. The handheld spray paint is a problem. I saw it all over the cars and fronts of people's houses in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1994 and my thoughts were "this is a terrible place to live with awful people painting everything." and this was right by the Liberty bell and Constitution building.
Some people allow sprayers to legally make some cool grafitti art on their walls, but then, some others come and spray some bs over it. This is a crime. There are many places where it could be more colorful than now...
Graffiti Art? That sir is an oxymoron!

As a tourist from Europe (Hungary, Budapest) I visited L.A. with my girlfriend back in 2016, and we were just driving around to see how the city looks like, we accidentally drove through this area after dark (8pm), we had no idea that places like this exist in the Us (We lived in Montreal Canada for 3 years before). We were just driving in the night and tents were all over the place, people were walking aimlessly with zombie moves in the middle of street, then we saw a red traffic light in front of us and we looked at each other and said let's not stop there and let's get the hell out of here I just turned around in the middle of the street (there were no other cars). Then we decided to go to Hollywood boulevard and walk there a little bit, it was around 9pm we got there, everything was full of crackheads and people walking like zombies mixed with some tourists, and homeless looking people were sitting on the ground and selling stuff, like water and souvenirs. Earlier that day we drove from the airport to Hollywood through areas that rather resembled to some Mumbai slum than anything we have thought of the US before, people were giving $1 cell phones and clothes away to the locals from vending tents. So after one day and night we just said "F" this city we leave this sh@t h@le behind and drove out to the national parks... Even if someone would offer me a free trip to L.A. in the middle of the Covid lockdowns I would not go... I do not know the past of L.A. if it was always like this or it is something recent. We both moved back to Hungary years ago and whenever I see these videos, I feel lucky that I live in Budapest and not in L.A. The weather is worse, but your are not playing with your life if you decide to go out after 8pm, and there are no crackheads walking around the streets, plus there are no people living in tents on the sidewalk...
google Hobo Corner 1900s for LA's skidrow history- an area of addiction and despair. Jo napot kivanok
It's 1000% times worse than 2016. I'm glad that you got to see it. It's like nothing I've ever seen before anywhere ever.
It's amazing that the richest people in america live right above the poorest. And all that's dividing them are walls built by other people.
I don't know if this has been said before but if your outside your vehicle and filming just be aware of your surroundings and be careful. Tweakers, homeless people, gang bangers etc. they don't give shit. I'm out here on the streets myself so I know how easily it is to get yourself in a bad situation even if you don't welcome it. Just be safe my friend. Much love from the Bay Area.
From the bay area also.
Man I literally wanna go out there and clean that shit up... why can’t they atleast pick up their trash?
I agree.
WHY DOESNT THE CITY PROVIDE TOILETS AND DUMPSTERS TO PUT TRASH??!! SEND SECURITY GUARDS TO MAKE SURE THEY COMPLY WITH BEING HUMAN..CHEAP FIX
Me to I got a very big dump trailer and a skid steer I am ready
And put it where?
@@lynmcneil4153 probably in a trash bag and in the dumpster? Wtf lmao
I grew up in California it breaks my heart to see my home state, thrown in a garbage can,
Hello from the Greek Islands
May god bless the homeless and
may god bless the politicians to see the light and do more as obviously its not enough and finally may the 1% hoarding wealth wake up and realize they're not taking it with them and get out of their gated properties and contribute to the injustice occurring globally!
Thanks German for spotlighting inequality a big thumbs up for your channel
There's often tons of stuff around the tents, like a hoarding mentality. That encampment with hundreds of bike parts. Maybe it's a territorial instinct, like "the more stuff I put right here, the more this place is mine, the less chance I have of being moved"
It reminds me of people who experienced the great depression. Don't get rid of anything because it might be useful later and you don't have any money to buy new.
@@johnn3542 Maybe yeah... caused by the desperation and uncertainty.
Wow you are dead on! The more stuff the harder and costlier it is to move
When you look at the psychology of being homeless, you'll find that clinical hoarding and mental illness go hand-in-hand and MANY homeless are also hoarders. Some are homeless because of hoarding or more often then not, the homeless are mentally ill and also hoarders. If you really take a moment to look at most Skid Row people, the stuff that they accumulate is pretty worthless, whereas, someone like you or myself, we would have the essentials like buckets, bowls, water containers, stove/grill, etc, but instead, either from drugs and/or mental illness, they will hoard things like unusable clothing, bicycle parts, cardboard, etc. If you ever watch the TV show, "Hoarders", you will see that about 99% of them are 'unfixable' in their self-destructive ways and are destined to be homeless since their house will be condemned EVEN after people work VERY hard to help them. It's a mental illness. Just like John N commented here, The Great Depression brought such a mentality to a full-blown epidemic in the general mind-consciousness of Americans. My father is a hard-working, law-abiding, tax-paying citizen, BUT, now that he's in his late 70's, I see his Great Depression parental influence getting worse and worse. He hates to throw ANYTHING away, just in case you may need to use it. I attempt to break this 'fear of lack' mentality in myself daily. I'd rather go out and pay another $0.50 for a new 'thing', rather than be surrounded by junk that just ends up making my mental health worse, rather than creating a cycle that predestines me for such a propensity.
On one hand: yes. Remember those protestors of the keystone XL pipeline? You know, environmentalists protesting a pipeline that would GREATLY impact the environment in a positive way instead of shipping it here from the East on heavy oil fueld ships. Yeah, they left tens of millions of dollars of trash around. Police aren't going to harass these people or they will get stabbed. City doesn't want to pay for cleanup. Just let them be if they aren't blocking a business or the street.
Keep pumping it up GiV, have gained over 14K subs in less than a week. You're an amazing person who gives a platform for these people to be seen and heard. You cover more about the homeless than CNN does in a year and you actually care about them. Hope you're having a wonderful weekend, thank you for the fantastic videos.
Im soooooo thankful to live in the country ,to me this is like a mild zombie apocalypse
@Johnathon Adams luckly I dont vote cause their isnt anyone yet worth voting for
There's a song by George Harrison, "Isn't It A Pity?", that should be played as background music while watching this.
"Isn't it a pity, isn't it a shame?
How we break each other's hearts
And cause each other pain
How we take each other's love
Without thinking anymore
Forgetting to give back
Isn't it a pity?"
I love wondering around there too! There's always something to see.... I was born & raised just a few miles from there, & have spent my entire life in Los Angeles. He's absolutely right -- it has gotten substantially worse AND he's right about having to see it, to believe it.
It's really astounding (& at night, it's like Zombie-Apocalypse with people swarming everywhere).
It's 99% hard drug addicts and they burn each others tents and RVs down, fighting over dope and dope debts.
The real issue with the homeless is millions of people who arent from the usa destroyed the economy in los Angeles..all of the money that was intended to solve the homeless crisis in America now goes to supporting the 9 children people have that come here from other countries...but we aren't allowed to talk about that
@@mcquackersmcduckers209 Doc, that's partially the case but in reality how many of these "millions of people who aren't from the USA" that you're referring to are strung out on crack, meth, heroin, fentanyl, flaka and so on?
The vast majority of the homeless, would not be homeless if they were not addicted to hard drugs... they know it, the police knows it, the city knows it.
@@safeeffective385 why dont you think there is enough money for all of those services now?
@989Bigboss i'm not disagreeing with you..but lets be honest about how the millions of illegals have 100% affected the extreme cost of living in california..that's not my opinion, thats factual
I’m homeless but not drug addicted, I guess I’m in the 1%?
In 1996 Escape from LA was a movie. Looks like it’s coming true in 2021.
Love that movie.
Past, predicting future...
MOST OF THE MOVIES IN THE PAST WARN EVERYONE ABOUT THE FUTURE
You should watch idiocracy, it’s a prophecy disguised as a movie.
1996 was the last and FINAL year that you could easily buy a house in Los Angeles for under $150,000.
Thank you Mike. I watched till the end for the pleasant surprise of your familiar music and sunset at Venice Beach....ahhhhh Stay safe everyone MAR 21 FL USA
They would NEVER dream of pitching their tents on the streets in front of the city leader's homes...NEVER !!
Duh...How would they get in?
So depressing to live there.
Feel sorry for the people that pay thousands of dollars in rent or mortgage and to see that filth when they go home 🤮🤮🤮
Why? They voted for the liberal politicians who enacted liberal policies who caused this. They wanted it, they got it, screw 'em.
@@ZeroGravityLife exactly!
I don't feel sorry for the people who pay thousands in rent. They have tried their hardest to step over their own people and think they are better because they have more money. Infact it's absolutely perfect irony
I don't feel sorry for those people because they go straight to the voting booth and vote democratic.
@@Ana-pg2mn
Yes I agree but I live in California and never voted Democrat.
There’s over 30-40% conservatives here in California don’t forget that.
WoW..... so sad to see, I look around here in Auckland New Zealand and thought it's getting out of control but this video is one BIG wakeup, if we keep going the way we are i'm sure it will end up like this in the future, not sure how this happens so so sad to see, your right you could have talked about it but watching it is amazing as it truly makes you think. Thanks for your channel!
There’s something about your accent that is so authoritative, soothing and melodic ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
It's the German accent
It's a Swazzinegar accent😁
People from all over the country comes to LA to become homeless. Trust me, I work as a social worker.
Why LA in particular?
@@mikeyKnows_ warmer weather, wider city, nice people, less strict policing, need I say more?
If LA experienced a winter like Texas just did, the homeless would move back to where they came from
A lot of them dream of becoming movie stars, but they're not willing to bang someone like Harvey Weinstein, so instead of getting Beverly Hills like they want, they get skid row, so sad!
I'm surprise no one took a shit on the floor while you were filming in L.A.
Congratulations we love you you have worked so hard for us
I know homeless vids are not what you ultimately want to do, but if you keep shining ight on this problem, you may help inspire a solution in the community. DO NOT STOP! LA needs the love! Take a road trip to SF and do the same thing. "German goes to San Fran!" Be the light these folks need.
the comments in this video are mostly a bunch of wankers screaming stop voting democrat, democrat bad,
