    Talk about sticker shock! I had a hard time thinking of a title for this because it seems like a whole different class of vehicle considering it’s price ($61k) and it’s performance.
    I’ll be getting an Explorer for a longer review soon where I’ll cover other trims, show the lighting at night, and Ford co-pilot 360 demo etc if you want! 👍
    *Thanks for watching and have a great day!*

    I did a LOT of research, and test drove a few similar vehicles (Range Rover, Kia, Hyundai, Lincoln, Volvo) but for overall value for what you get, the platinum explorer for me, was the winner. It's plenty fast, seamless shifting, excellent dash display. I wasn't sure of the large "tablet" style display but bought it 150 miles away, and by the time I drove it home, I loved it, and still do. It's easy to glance at it and not take your focus off the road, where smaller, more lower placement would make you look lower to see the display, so it's working for ma. The platinum has seat color options, where the ST is only black, and the sunroof is standard, where the ST it's an option, and the platinum is a smoother ride, which is what I wanted for the 95% of the time I'm not hammering the pedal. Paid 58k but if you look at similar vehicles, it's a good price, and the quality and fit are blurring the lines with Lincoln ($13k less for same options, except for ~30 hp higher for Lincoln). I'd say the Kia is a good value but for me the engine/trans was a big factor for me to get the explorer. I still love this car, and love driving it. Found out you can get a 5Star tune kit and get ~440 hp out w/o over-pushing engine/trans limits but seriously, I'd never need that kind of power unless I was racing or something like that....this car is fast! You know, all cars, trucks at the upper levels are getting expensive, and a lot of the cost isn't obvious but still great to have. So that's the factor I put in my head when choosing this car, and I plan to keep it a long time.

      That is awesome to hear! I’m really glad you’re enjoying it. Ford really stepped things up with this Explorer and the feature set + Powertrain performance is luxury level without a doubt. Very impressive. Thanks for sharing and I hope you continue to enjoy it! 😁👍

    My 2019 CX-9 Signature just got totaled ... so I'm taking delivery of a 2020 Explorer Platinum tomorrow. During my test drive of the Explorer I was blown away by the difference in feel compared to the CX-9. The Ford feels bigger, smoother, more substantial, just all around a cut or two above. So stoked. Come on Monday!!! (rare thing to be looking forward to a Monday ... am I right?) Thanks for the video!

    Nice review. I brought (leasing) a 2021 XLT & I like it, but on this model, I just can't get into that screen. It looks a little stupid. They should have kept it like a wide screen. In my truck, maybe it's me, but my 2nd row seats don't seem like they move like that to get to the 3rd row. I had it for only 5 days, so I'll take another look at it. Ford did a good job at remodeling this truck. Also on my model, I don't understand why they took away some of the little things like, the turn signals on the mirrors, the coin holder & the light inside the glove compartment. It's the little things that you miss when you realize it's not there😥

    Great review man!!! I am so torn between the platinum and ST and even the Aviator since it’s not much more.. But I am REALLY curious to see the adaptive LED headlight technology the platinum has. Similar if it’s like my Jeep GC HA. Please post a video showing that! Thank you!!

    • @PrimeAutotainment
      @PrimeAutotainment  4 роки тому +1

      Thank you very much! All three of those are awesome. The Aviator is definitely extra cool. As for the adaptive LED headlights..I'm supposed to be getting one or two different explorers within the next month for a longer review where I'll do lighting reviews. My guess is that one will be an ST and the other a platinum or limited so hopefully they have the lights! Stay tuned!

    Bought the ST because and let me tell its an unbelievable drive. This thing moves! handles amazing, they did a really good job on the driving and fun experience for something that is a dubbed a family SUV. The only complaints is the Pad like display and some misses on the front dash detailing. The B&O premium speaker system is just OK, kind of expected something more premium and more bass sounding. The last row, you are almost sitting on the floor with your knees to your face. I hope they figure out how to fix that in later models. But yeah really impressed with how this car drives and performs.

      One thing to note - when I first drove this, I was impressed overall but only had it for a couple of hours. A few months later I got to drive it for a week and I got very mixed feelings. It had a stiff ride (harsh at times with the Platinum trim) when hitting solid bumps in the road, and the transmission was good and bad. Sometimes it was indecisive and sometimes it would have hard shifts. I like most of it, but those things were enough to make me nervous about anyone buying it. Plus it was definitely overpriced for MSRP. If you drive one yourself, I’d love to know what you think!

      RebelShift hey man so I’m driving the 2020 Explorer this week and remembered your question in the speed sign and cruise control stuff.
      I haven’t dived in completely yet but there’s a normal adaptive setting and an intelligent cruise setting. The “intelligent” is the one that automatically reduces speed to the signs the vehicle spots.
      Regular adaptive and non “intelligent” doesn’t slow you down. I need to look more at it. Have you purchased one?

    I have to admit, this is a big upgrade from past models, love the color, have to applaud Ford for their work here. However, there are some things I'm not a fan of, namely that rotary dial shifter, that steering wheel, looks a bit cheap and late 90's to me; & that infotainment screen looks like an afterthought, I would've like to see that be more integrated rather than something just stuck in place at the last second. Not too hot about the price either... I think the message seats and power third row are overkill. I mean, I'm all for a comfortable driving position, but I think being messaged while doing it is an unnecessary distraction. Good job as always though, Nolan!

      Yep. Still has that Ford design language. Has all the bells that a BMW has but some how just comes short in all areas both inside and out. And like all explorers before it, still looks like a base model with tacked on options. Much rather a BMW X5 with bi turbo inline 6. Also hearing these are having tons of issues right now. Not hearing anything good from early adopters for this and the aviator. Probably want to wait at least a year before they get their shit together on quality. Definitely going the right direction on the interior but its still second seat to how the Germans can lay out an interior. Thought that center stack display would grow on me but its still looks like an afterthought. My 10 inch on my BMW X3 looks much more integrated. In fact the interior on a loaded X3 has allot more premium looking. This explorer looks premium and also cheap at the same time. Only good thing I'd say is this has pretty decent tow capacity if that is something important to you. Still rather have a German made ZF 8 speed over any American Transmission. This one probably being the GM/Ford 10.

But they'll buy it anyway with some ludicrous 72 - 84 month financing, and they will be upside down for many years with this vehicle. It's pretty sad that people don't understand financing and how they are being taken advantage of. And Ford doesn't have a stellar record of reliability. I really like the styling of the new Explorer. It’s similar to the old one, but so much better. It’s almost Range Roveresque from certain angles. That being said, I would never, ever, spend $60k+ on one of these. They will lose $20k in the first year. Wait and buy a low mileage 2 year old one for less then 1/2 the original cost. • @stephenhendricks103
    @stephenhendricks103 4 роки тому +2

    I'll skip the obvious comparison between the top trim Explorer vs the top trim Telluride and Palisade, vehicles with comparable or better features with MSRP's about $13,000 (!) less. Instead, compare the top trims (ST and Platinum) of the Explorer with a mid-trim Lincoln Aviator (Reserve) with a far more luxuriously appointed interior and a tow rating 1100 lbs more than the Explorer along with the same engine and drive train. All with an MSRP of only about $4000 more than the Explorer.
    Of course, MSRP's can be very misleading compared to real world pricing but let' be honest. The price of the new Explorer is simply ludicrous. It would require a discount of about $10,000 to make the Explorer even remotely competitive with a Telluride or Palisade and a budget alternative to an Aviator.

      Just to start, the Explorer has 365HP and Telluride has 291. That's a big difference. With the Telluride, you'll likely pay MSRP or higher. You should be able to negotiate the Explorer down at least $5k from MSRP. The Explorer has a 30 year history behind it while the Telluride has 1. I think 3 years down the road, you'd be kicking yourself for buying the Telluride. That cost difference has to come from somewhere. Currently, I think KIA has 3 open recalls for various models all relating to potential engine fires.

    NOOOOO LA COMPREN:
    Porque???
    Compre la explorer ST el 13 de septiembre de 2019 Fui de los primeros en comprarla en SAN DIEGO CA
    en 1 año la he llevado 12 veces al dealer
    problemas de frenos
    camara trasera se pone azul
    delay en el audio (lo compre con pantallas y tienes 3 segundos de DELAY, como creen que se mira cualquier video...)
    el asiento se rompio
    el ventilador que enfria los asientos se rompio/daño
    pero lo mas importante NO PUEDEN ARREGLAR EL PROBLEMA DE LA CAMARA
    y ahora se rompio el "Brazo" de la parte izquierrda ENFRENTE y suena como carroza con caballo y me dicen que tendran mi parte hasta dentro de 1 mes.......
    Lo bueno:
    Si la teconologia funcionara al 100 esta padrisima la suv....
    el motor corre PADRISIMA...
    pero por todo lo que he tenido de problemas no la recomiendo en lo absoluto

      TheDoltonboy every 30 seconds my ass. There’s a little bit in the beginning and then nothing through the 23 minute video till the very end. I don’t use music anymore anyways, not because of you though lol. If you don’t like something...move along or make your own dam video

    Definitely looks great and would be tempting, but Ford is *shit* quality. I've owned Fords and Toyotas and Fords _suck_ compared to Toyotas. This will maybe get you to 100,000 without too many problems, but a Toyota Highlander will get you at least twice as many miles.
