Do you know what's funny? I used to agree with that but after Ford Explorer 2020 design just started to get older and now I prefer the 2020 model design but I still prefer the older interior.
It took you 9 minutes to mention the most significant change which is that the engine is now mounted in a normal longitudinal fashion vs the transverse layout of the 2019 model year. This means that the vehicle is now rear-wheel biased which will make it drive 10 times better than the old one.
Many dealers are doing videos of these trainer Explorers when they show up at their dealerships. Yours by far was the best I have seen. If you could, please do another video detailing the many functions of the gauge display as well of the 10” display as this would be very helpful. Thanks for taking the time to do these videos.
George Costanza Well, they’re the same designers. Believe or not. I can instantly tell that it’s a Ford but I can’t blame you for that. They do seem very similar.
Great looking Explorer but the screen looks more like an afterthought. It just doesn't look like it is integrated into the dash very well. It's more like something a young kid would do in his parents' garage.
I think it will grow on us. The part that makes it look odd is the headlights, they extend too far inward relative to the grill. Gives the grill this goody smile.
You think it looks cheap? IT IS CHEAP. For the 2020 Fusion Hybrid/Energi model year, they've gotten so cheap they've even taken out the hood engine bay pad (yeah, that one that every single car since 1983 has had).
When I first saw pictures of the 2020 I was worried it looked exactly like the 2019. After watching this and seeing the subtle difference in designs I can honestly say they did a great job with this Explorer. They kept the overall design that is now iconic and improved it exactly where it needed it. As a ford employee I'm confident this will sell well
And on the PI verison where law enforcement has flashing lightheads in the heahlights there at the top drowning the healights out at night. Everything just backwords and the tail lamps are just awful 😖😫
I immediately thought the same thing. It's like they just shoved a tablet into the dash as an afterthought. I'm so happy I have my 2018. This is definitely a big step backwards in style if you ask me.
4:58 - I agree. I hated the new design when I first saw it online, but I saw a bunch of them in person a few days ago and it grows on you fast. Still don't like how the grille pokes under the headlamps, but it's still a nice car.
Its sad we live in a world where people would rather complain and bash something for the negatives then rather compliment something for the positives. Personally, I like the car, compared to my families 15 explorer base it is a huge improvement. Only complaint would be the taillights
The last gen Explorer actually came out before or around the same time as the body style of range Rover that everyone says ford ripped off. So the range Rover if anything, looks like the explorer.
@@ShersGarage haha, I see your point, but I'm the kind of person who's under a hood at least once a week. Doesn't matter if the car is brand new or not, checking fluids and levels.
Nice seats but the interior plastic looks cheap. I still prefer the clam shell hood. The plastic fender flares would make a TourX proud. Anything above the 2.3L & except for the ST the Hybrid should be standard. Price, holy hell! Good walkaround video.
That huge screen and the back up cam section is 2019 FPIU tiny? At least the graphics and quick interface is nice. GM new back up cameras look like GTA 3 as if we should be proud the 360 exists.
I like the 16-19 grill headlights front end better. I have a 2018 sport. Hey I like the clamshell hood. Not a fan of the 20 explorer front end and fenders, however the new aviator looks good in my opinion.
Is it just me or does the new 2020 look smaller than the 2019? The front fascia has a worried expression and the 2019 has a more confident expession. I feel like they should have just builded on the old design. However the new interior of the 2020 is amazing and that tablet style infotainment system is amazing reminds me of the Tesla or the Volvo screens
I normaly do not watch car commercials because of bad camera work and too many tight shots of the Sun and high beam headlights, but yall did well and no excessive panning. I am a Eco boost Explorer owner and looking at buying the new Eco boost version with all the extra space, just no sun roof this time. I can deal with the 4 runner look from the rear, I like the rest of the vehicle.
I mean, most people, myself included, who have come from a family with a bunch of older explorers, think that, so far, the 5th gen was the best. It's significantly more reliable than explorers from the mid 2000s, easy to handle, rides great, is more sporty and efficient, is safer, and just all around, a much better product. Many of these significant improvements can be attributed to the switch to a unibody platform. The explorers come along way, and the only downside is, oh, it's not quite as capable at going off road. Like that matters, when I've never met an suv or truck owner who often takes their vehicle offroad. I know dozens of Jeep owners that won't even drive down dirt trails.
It looks really poorly designed. The should drive a range rover and just copy excellence. Screen is like a shitty rehash of a Tesla Model S - and that looks crap too.
@Brian Waller Many high end models have the vertical screen. Must be a lot of real world demand for it. The only people that hate it post on the internet and seldom buy a new car anyway.
Omg what was wrong with the old look. I understand a minor tweak but eww. The interior is ok it’s supposed to be a ford build tough car looks like a navigator. Needs the old look back ASAP

I liked the older look but love rear wheel drive
Danish Khan same
I dont care for the headlights, there backwords. But yet it took me awhile to get used the fog lights on the 18 and 19 models.
To be honest the 2019 explorer looks more luxury and stylish than the 2020 model.
I was thinking the same thing. So far the first and only body style I've liked on the Explorer. 2020 looks hideous.
I agree the 2020 is ugly! Ford blew it!
We all know that but Ford uses to change design every 5 years
I got the 2019 model intentionally because I don't care for the look of the 2020 model. the rear of the 2020 looks too much like a 4runner.
@@Booplesn00tgaming 2020 design looks controversial

Same here. Whoever was in charge of the design team for 2020 should be taken out to the parking lot and flogged. It looks like a Chevy.

Wow!!! All that technology literally BLEW my mind. But the 2019 is definitely better looking in my opinion.
Kaitlyn E luxury imports have actually had all that for years now. Nice to see the technology trickle down though.
Yeah but at least the 20s went back to rear wheel drive like they were from 1991-2010
I honestly think that the 2019 looks cleaner and more luxurious than the 2020

To me, the 2020 ones front looks really ugly, I like the 2019 one way better.
Best review of a vehicle I’ve ever seen. He covered all the questions that I needed asked. He even sat down 3rd back seat.
The only thing I've yet to find out is does it have a spare tire?
