I did sing this song at my local karaoke at the PNW Meatheads BBQ in Longview, Washington. They use AMP Karaoke. AMP Karaoke did have the controversial verse with the 6 letter f word. I know the song writers and members of Dire Straits did not intend to be demeaning to gay men. Hausbrauen describes those lyrics accurately.

I did substitute the 6 letter f word with the word "queenie" when I sang it much like Dire Straits did when they sang it in concert years later.
