I appreciate the video. Couple of things. The black cylinder on the side of the carb is the enricher. It allows an "extra" circuit to flow additional fuel at startup (rather than having a choke). As the engine warms, a needle inside slowly moved forward and blocks the enricher circuit by the time the engine should run without it. Next, there is no fuel pump. The engine vacuum pulls the valve open and allows fuel flow by gravity. It is, essentially, an automatic petcock.
Great video. Very clear and a real help. I have a short attention span, so this might be the longest video I've watched end-to-end. I bought one of these for the kids in 2016. It ran okay for the first summer. By the next spring I paid a local mechanic more than a couple hundred dollars to get it running again and it lasted most of the summer before it just stopped working altogether. There is sat for years. I found this video when looking to "just get rid of the thing". I drained the old fuel, charged the battery, replaced the carb like in the video and didn't even have to clean the air filter it had so little use. It fired up after about 5 seconds of cranking and fires up immediately ever since. So for about $40 and 25 minutes, we have an awesome little go kart thanks to Jo Daddy's Workshop video!
I just acquired a trail master blazer 200 EX. From my granddaughter and son n law. It has been sitting up a little while. I know I need to change or clean carboratir . I am almost 65 a woman 👠 and I am so excited!! I am somewhat motor literate. I love love learning new things! Going to try to make it street legal. Doesn't need much for me to do that! This thing is loaded! I just need a lot of cleaning and tweaks. Got all the wasps out! The rest should be easier!! (I hope). It does run, but it lags and sometimes takes a minute to get it to turn over. But I don't give up easy, I learn fast and I am not a quitter! I will be checking on you for some things. I like the way you explain things!!! Ty
I have a 2007 Carter Brothers 150cc I got in the 6th grade back in 2008. It is almost identical to this one; crazy to see how much hasn't changed. The body and frame are exactly the same. However, mine didn't have indicators, a horn or a speedometer. Those carbs are a pain in the ass, mine is being fixed right now.
THANK YOU...for sharing. Wires coming out of the little black box on the side of the carb is an electric enricher, this is what goes bad on these China engines. It looks like fun. Nice fix.
After watching this I see I have lots of missing components. There are no T-fittings on mine. I got hoses with no place to go. Mine will start at first and run for a while then stall. I can get it to run longer if I hand choke it. The longest I had it running was about 12 minutes idling. It will not run on half to full throttle or it will run out of fuel (run too lean). The electrical is the choke on a GY6 engine.
Hey...you may be able to take out some of that lag by tightening up the throttle cable by adjusting the two nuts on the bracket that is attached to the carburetor
I just did one today and it's running sluggish also. Maybe the high speed jet needs blown out again or soak it in solvent to dissolve the tiny film inside the carburetor port's. Also have found new carburetors on amazon for cheaper than I can clean one. $30
Hey man good video. I'm working on one of these for a friend of mine now. It was doing the same thing yours was when you hit the gas it would die. After looking at the carburator everything was good in there. So it ended up being bad vacuum lines. That could be part of the reason it feels sluggish. Any way you look at it these things are garbage and that motor I can't say a good thing about them. Good luck with it.
I have hammerhead 150, I’m having the same lag as yours. More of a bog. I’ve check spark and the spark seems a little weak. If you find your problem please post. Great video.
I’m so glad I found your video/channel. I’m going through a similar thing but it dies when I give it gas. Carburetor is clean, air filter is fine, and I have checked for vacuum leaks. I changed the spark plug as well and still goes dead when accelerating. Any help or info would be much appreciated.
Were having the same issue with ours. My husband and dad both say it's electrical and wouldnt listen to me when I told them it could be the carb or the gas. Thanks for clarifying. I sent them the link to your video. Maybe they will listen now since a man is telling them. 😆 anyways, thanks so much for the video. Can you send the link to the website you bought your carb from? Thanks again and looking forward to the updated video.
Great video! Get yourself a set of wire drill bits. (Amazon) They are tiny. These carbs have such tiny jets and ports in them. They clog with the slightest varnish. I have 2 spare carbs I keep ready to go. Also, just some advice, 1. Don't crank on it for long periods( the starters are tiny and will die easily) 4 or 5 revolutions and let the gas run down to the carb your are discharging from the tank, then another 4 or 5 revolutions, etc, etc. 2. Don't pump the gas pedal. The choke is electric. There is no accelerator pump like on a car. Treat it like a fuel injected car. 3. Finally, Seafoam and Stabil don't seem to help...maybe they even make the things in the carb clog worse. Have a blast and try not to kill yourself.
Thank you for that video. I purchased one that needed a little more work. I did end up buying a new carburetor also. But it takes several attempts to get it started when it’s cold. But once it stays running it seems to run good. Seems that it needs the choke adjusted ??? Any idea what or how that can be adjusted? Thanks
I got the Mid XRX off of Offer Up for $50! But it dosent have all the cool features that the 150 dose, like turn signals, reverse, and over head lights
Hey! I have the same unit, and the other day I folded the pivot point and punctured the gas tank. I bought a gas tank from Canadian Tire for a lawn tractor and installed it, got it running, but now it stalls randomly. Just bogs down after accelerating a bit. I'm not great at mechanics, but this fuel tank I bought was for a 196cc engine, whereas these are 150cc. Do the gas tanks have a air restriction based on the cc that would cause this?
Hi Jo, I have a 200xrx 200cc with the same issue: would this carb work on my 200cc? I'm only asking because it is very identical and the exact same part # but different cc's. Please advise if I should proceed with purchase. Thank you and the video was very helpful!
