The Two-Rock demo: THAT was a proper solo, played by a proper guitarist. Best I have seen from you, Rob. Sorry you had to endure such tragedy but you channeled the emotions in an amazing way.

Thanks dude, sadly I had lost many friends around that time, several human and several canine... it was all a bit too much, going back over this videos I can’t help but notice how much happier I am in recent years which is really nice - it’s odd having such a regular video diary at my disposal.

two-rock-Rob, you are one of the greats. no wonder i cant stop watching these and andertons vids. only now getting this as in the past "guitar heros" were far less personable / accessible, and "consumed" via other venues. interesting how youtube has changed the delivery method of top musicians. keep up the good work and thanks for the amp intel.

I'm 40 as of October 13. A year ago I decided to finally learn to play guitar. I'm still learning but finally found a guitar that fit me very well. In the evening I cant really get into my practicing as I like because of shared living accommodation. I take time some nights to gather components from electronic stuff people have brought in and I've built 2, 5 watt 2 channel tube amps and one that was 17.88w with 2 channels. I wont use less than a quality 12 inch speaker and I love a kt88 build. The kt88 is a fine amp tube and it brings my SG to life like nothing else. People will swear I was playing on a Les Paul. I gave the first amp to my nephew and my second amp went to a friend kid. The big ones pushing a 15 inch speaker and is punchy in the bottom end, its tight all through and I can set off a few car alarms if I put it in my window lol. I'm using diagrams I find online. I sort of think I need an attenuator for anything over 15 amps now lol. I know enough to change the setups I find and make them more robust or wire them with enough changes to it them to make it mine and not a copy. My hand wired boards are on a chassis. You take out 2 screws and it pulls straight back and swings to the right. It gives you access to the tubes on the bottom and wiring on top.

My favourite amps I've owned (since I don't have much experience demoing gear):
Hughes and Kettner TubeMeister 18 - my current main amp, it's just a really good-sounding amp and I bought mine just before they started really getting a lot of social media coverage. But for the price, the features you get were really ahead of their time: a tube health indicator, a DI output that sounds good for once, built-in power soak that lets you run without a cabinet... even though it's been updated and tweaked a few times, I can't see any reason to give mine up and upgrade.
Orange Dark Terror - Holy hell that amp sounds incredible. I had to send my TubeMeister in for repair and ended up with one of these as a loaner. Definitely the best high-gain amp I've ever had in my house. Was seriously massive-sounding. The only thing I would have liked on it was a clean channel.
Orange Micro Dark - I actually owned the last one's little brother for a while, and even though I had owned it with the dinky little 1x8 cabinet, and that sounded terrible, I once got to open the taps on it through a Peavey 4x12. Talk about night-and-day difference in tone. For a super-cheap half-solid-state amp that looks like a toy, that thing packed some SERIOUS punch and I'd have gigged with it in a heartbeat. To be honest, even though I upgraded to the TubeMeister, I still kind of wish I'd stuck with it, but again, I needed a clean channel.
Peavey Express 112 - I considered this my first "real" amp, since it was the first with a 12" speaker. Old analog solid-state combo, probably just a rebadged Bandit (I have no idea what the difference is, if there is one), one of the blue-stripe models. Thing sounds pretty damn glorious for a solid-state amp made around the same time as the fall of the Berlin Wall. I still keep the thing around as a basic living room rig, just plugging my guitars straight into the front of it.

It's been said in the comments already, but I also felt every note of that Two Rock demo. I lost my beautiful rottweiler, Mandy, a couple of months ago. She was not the first dog my family has owned, but she was MY first dog. She slept in my room, she listened to me better than anyone, and she was always so happy to see me come home when the others weren't. She was my girl. She was my best friend. She was my comfort, and now she's gone. I've seen them come and go, but there is always one that is so special that it seems like the pain will never truly fade. My only comfort now is that she is no longer suffering. I can sleep easier knowing that she doesn't have to deal with hunger pains because she couldn't eat and that she'll never be so tired again. I gave her the best life I possibly could. I just hope that she knew that no matter what, I did everything I could to provide her with a safe home, a warm bed, and all the playtime she could ever ask for. Rest in peace, girl. I'll see you again some day.

I have the Line 6 Spider IV 120 and I love it. I've had several amps and this compares to the Fender Power Chorus I bought in 1994. With the added FBV MKII foot pedal, it's eliminated any pedal I ever used in the past. It has 140 presets in the processor that are all customizable, as well as saving your own in the bank. It's even taught me how to do layering with my own loops which was completely new to me. I don't care what people think, I'm never going back to conventional amps and pedals after using it. Best amp I ever owned.

This was some cool nostalgia amp videos. The Fender Machete reminded me of Fender's 1980s ROC100 series back in the day.

Great choices! My current fave is my current main amp, the Laney Cub 12R. 15 watts, all-tube, effects loop, and the one I bought (which is actually a rebranded knock-off that uses the exact same internal components but costs not even half as much) has a really nice spring reverb (as opposed to the digital reverb in the Laney version). In fact, the only real weak point was the cheap-o Sino EL84s, which wore out after just six months of occasional low-to-moderate volume playing. Swapped in a pair of Tung-Sols, swapped in a Mesa 12AT7 in V1 (totally unnecessary, but I wanted more clean headroom for more volume so I could run an overdrive pedal and have a good, loud clean tone), and it's utter perfection. Turn up the reverb, and it's a very forgiving amp without getting muddy. Cut the reverb, and it becomes a very articulate, clear, and unforgiving amp. Turn up the presence, and it gets that Vox clarity. Turn down the presence a bit, and it mimics a Blues Junior. Roll it back further, and you get that thick Marshall sound. Add a chorus and run one channel to the power section of another amp, and you have more than enough volume for just about any gig. Such a great, underrated amp.

Yes, I was prepared to be a non-believer concerning the Katana, but I got the 100 watt 1x12 and I love it. Loved your emoting solo also Rob, sorry about your dog dying mate.

I'm very pleased with my Katana.. the worst thing I can say for it is that it sets you up for choice-overload.... because it's effing great and has about fifty Boss pedals on board. I do feel vindi-muh-cated in my choice now my amp has made your top ten! Cheers, Chappers! Ciao and cheerio!

Some really great amps there! I especially agree re the Boss Katana range. I have a Katana Artist which has become my main amp - it's a definite keeper!

I bought the Epiphone Nighthawk and the HT-5 because of you, Rob. And because I liked them. But you definitely had a hand in it for sure.

Also remember when you reviewed the TI-15 (Iommi Signature) by Laney. This was my first Andertons video I've watched. Since then I'm always excited which reviews come next.

The YJM100 baby! I got that amp on preorder, and man... I looove that amp to bits, though I am a bit sacrilegious since I am using a reissue 1957 LP as my main thaing. But I am loving it just the same!
