      Awesome. I have just started too. I'm 40year old woman and when I turned 40 I went bugger it. I'm not getting any younger and I love it. Not great, I do have a teacher as I don't know anything about reading or play music. I'm enjoying all of it though. Well besides not doing it earlier and the tips of my fingers haven't quite got used to playing just yet.

    I was just at Riff City Guitars (their New Hope, MN store) yesterday and I did what any red-blooded birthday girl would do: I grabbed a $2500 PRS, plugged it into a $1500 Victory V40 head and a $1000 cab and had an absolutely GRAND time road-testing pedals. Went home with a Tone City Kaffir Lime overdrive pedal!

      To be honest, sometimes I think my favorite guitar of the four (3 electric, 1 acoustic) that I own is my black Squier Bullet Mustang. It's a stripped-down little thing: no frills, all thrills, fast little short-scale neck. The only thing I really miss with it are the phase switches - but I have a friend who's got access to a CNC machine if/when I ever want to fix that.

    Rob, another great video! When my youngest son started playing (on a 3/4 scale Squire Strat), I started watching your videos to get to understand the gear, etc. When he needed a full size guitar we purchased a PRS Standard 24 based on a lot of research, but what started us on that path was the video you and the Captain did on the PRS Standard line. He is loving the guitar, and I am loving watching him grow as a musician. Thanks for the countless hours of entertainment and knowledge you have provided over the years.

    PRS makes a 305 and no one bats an eye. PRS makes the Silver Sky John Mayer sig and evErYoNe LosEs TheiR MiNdS

    • @kbkman7742
      @kbkman7742 6 років тому +3

      Yeah don't forget the EG series they even had pickguards
      And ignoring pickups the early CEs and swamp ash models were very fendery

    • @PaulMeUnder
      @PaulMeUnder 6 років тому +6

      But the 305 isnt trying to look like a strat. It looks like a PRS with different pickups but is still completely PRS. The Silver Sky pulls no punches in what it is trying to be which is not a PRS.

    • @judosailor
      @judosailor 6 років тому +3

      Funny you say that because I immediately thought, why didn’t they make the Silver Sky like this? Probably would have avoided all the controversy and given the guitar world something more unique.

    • @johnbach2380
      @johnbach2380 6 років тому +1

      PRS did a strat looking guitar years ago. I.E. the PRS EG, PRS DG3.
      And who the hell doesn't build a 'strat' like guitar? Suhr, Jackson, Schecter, Anderson, G and L, Chapman guitars, *Insert boutique guitar maker here*. You can name thousands.
      No one bat's an eye but this PRS Silver Sky... hooo boy... devil devil shun shun.
      Its hilarious the 'negative' response.

    • @PaulMeUnder
      @PaulMeUnder 6 років тому

      John Bach True, good point. I think maybe the expectation on PRS is greater than on other boutique makers but at the end of the day all they have done, is given the guitar buyers out there, more choice. How can that be a bad thing?

    Hello there, I absolutly loved this video, like your other video in general, and I would find it awesome if you could make a video about the guitars or other instruments that inspired you to make music, the ones you had a true connection with, what kind of vibes it has, the emotion that it procure with a little kind of documentary of it history, when you got it, why it and not the next one, if you still have it or why you seperated yourself of it. if the video is not to long it could also includes, or maybe for an other video, the guitars you don't owned or even played but still does the same, inspired you just by the artist playing it, the feedback you heard aroud or just their reputation, like the guitars that made you want to start playing it.

    Rob, I think it's time for a best of the best "Custom Shop Champion" guitar-off !!! If anyone has the earthy charisma, instantaneous recognition amount their peers, and more than the "chops" you have the "cleave", the "hack", the "mince", the"whack", the " dice", the "fragment", the "hackle" the "hew", the "mangle", the "sever" , and the "TRUNCATE" to put these virtuous virtuousities through their paces, and the silver tongue to eloquently, vividly, gracefully, and lucidly articulate a review of the ten best guitars offered by a major manufacturers custom shop or custom division. I think that many of us are stumped by the custom offerings of these giants, and have no idea whether the value added by a custom shop is worth the extra money over the regular top off the line offerings by those same companies. ? Other topics that would interest many of us are, what constitutes an actual custom shop and custom shop experience? What offerings would be considered a base line when approaching a custom shop ? Who has the best custom shop instrument ? Who is the most involved custom shop, with the most options, and willing to go the furthest to customize a guitar ? What are the customizable parameters of a guitar. Best bang for your buck custom shop manufacturer?
    The subscribers cheerfully demand that you take us into the world of custom shops and give us your very knowledgeable opinion !
    Thank you Rob !

    I will admit that gretsch penguin sounds incredible and acoustically sounds amazing and would have been incredible to hear it through a clean and crunch channel

    That Gibson LP Player Plus was off the hook. It had the spirit of Gary Moore in the tone. Amazing.

    Those were really nice. The best guitars I've played so far are hanging on my walls. I've been fine tuning (no pun intended) my collection for over 30 years and I'm very happy with the current state. Currently there are 28 guitars in the collection, one of which is a Chapman ML1 Pro Modern. Your passion for guitars really shows in this model.

    CHAPPERS!! Your video made me buy the full fat player plus!! It’s coming Thursday and I can’t wait...I went for the vintage sunburst as the Paul Hollywood blue was a bit much for my taste 😂 Thanks again 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

    I know it's out of the norm compared to what Chapman has done so far, but a headless ML with an evertune bridge would be incredible.

    Idea for another top10/5. Most surprising instruments. i.e. guitars that you maybe thought were going to be shaffordable but turned out to be mega.

    You should let us the subscribers pick the top 5 Guitars you played and we think sounded the best. My number 1 for you was the Friedman Guitar review. Both you and Lee did the jam in the beginning, it was impressive.

    I couldn't agree more with you on that Les Paul. You made that thing sing! I watched that video so many times because it was the best Les Paul I ever heard. I was going to pull the trigger but I watched other videos and it didn't sound nearly as good and I was unable to play one. I came to the conclusion it was too much to buy without playing first.

    It is my life’s mission to own one of those Malcolm young Gretch. The man taught me and like a billion other people how to play aggressive rock n roll. I already have a low end N4 and it’s the balls.

    Great video Rob, great choices. That pawn shop femder needs to find you - you are it's true owner......I can feel it in my water. What a great mission that would be. Have you ever considered producing something ambient for a movie? Something instrumental with lots of colour? The Gibson playing felt cinematic (something to explore maybe?).

    Deserves my thumbs up x10. Really entertaining video. Now do amps. (my bias: I bought a Two Rock Sensor strictly on the basis of that remarkable Andertons episode and have loved every minute with it -- maybe the best $1800 I've ever spent -- before it I never thought amplifiers made that much difference).
