Fun-Fact-of-the-Day: Arnold and Jesse Ventura ("Captain Freedom") both appeared in This Movie, as well as in "Predator" too!! IRL, both of them have also served as Governors: Arnold in California, Ventura in Minnesota.
When I see this era of Arnold. I think of something John Wayne once said. He claimed he wasn't much of an actor but did know how to play John Wayne. Arnold knew how to play Arnold and that was something people payed to see.
This maybe list on younger reactors, but seeing Richard Dawson as an evil gameshow host was kinda awesome. He already was the shadiest, though charming gameshow host on tv. Perfect casting.
I've never been able to confirm it, but Bob Barker (Price is Right) was considered for Dawson's role. Apparently no one considered him creepy/evil enough. Then the lawsuits started stacking up.

"Dynamo" actor was an MIT graduate who founded a computer company, wrestled in the Olympics, sang professional opera, and was brilliant in the movie Stir Crazy. Captain Freedom was Jesse Ventura, whom you already saw with Arnold in Predator (he didn't have time to Bleed) The guy who said "You're one of the cops who locked up all my friends, burned my songs, people like you took this country and turned it into a jail" was Mick Fleetwood (of Fleetwood Mac) basically as a future version of himself
Sub-Zero was also a pro wrestler. His wrestling name was Prof Toru Tanaka (Which is the name in the credits.) His heyday was in the 70's. By the time Running Man came out, I don't think he was wrestling anymore.
"I'm not into politics, I'm into survival" - Governor Schwarzenegger, in "The Running Man" before becoming Governor. You hit the nail on the head. Not every movie that's cheesy is bad. Too many people these days bash anything that's not some sort of Oscar-worthy masterpiece, but there's a place for cheesy action, ridiculous comedy and over-the-top horror. Some movies are just meant to entertain!
@@christopherconard2831 I think "Predator" almost had three. Sonny Landham (Billy) ran for office in like Kansas or Tennessee or something if I'm not mistaken, but lost.
Not a good Governor. In recent years he's redeemed himself, coming out strongly against Trump, and the other month putting out a video encouraging people to let go of bigotry.
Basil Poledouris' birthday is August 21st , might we get a Conan the Barbarian reaction by then? It'd be a big step in seeing Arnie's roots and you'll love the music!
Commando is Arnie at his Arniest, so that's my 80's reco, but I would like to shout out some of his late 90's films for your consideration--- Collateral Damage, End of Days (Arnie vs. Satan!), The 6th Day, and Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines (suck it,haters! ). Truthfully, there are not many Arnold movies that I don't like (Junior and Jingle All the Way are the only ones I can think of right now) so I say just watch all of them. :)
The script for this was written by a friend of mine (I still can't believe I can say that), Steven de Souza, who also wrote the amazing Die Hard. The other collaboration between him and Arnie is Commando. If you haven't seen it. it's a must!
@@liquidsnake321 He did. That's how we met. I'm guest liaison at a Film Festival, and a few years ago he came for a special screening of Street Fighter. And, oh, the stories I've heard... it should have its own documentary.
That soundtrack 80’s harder than any movie made today but set in that decade! I was born in ’78, so grew up through the 80’s & 90’s; if I could go back, I would! 🥰❤️
Some cast notes! Laughlin, the non-hacker dude, was Yaphet Kotto, who you might remember from his roles in Alien and as Mr. Big in Live and Let Die. Fireball was Jim Brown who was a legendary football player, and who had a lot of roles in the 60s and 70s. He kinda got shafted on screentime in this one. Captain Freedom was Jesse "The Body" Ventura, who was well known as a wrestling commentator prior to going into acting. You saw him in Predator. He later became the Governor of Minnesota. That was not Minnesota's greatest decision. The security guard, Sven, was Sven-Ole Thorson, who shows up in almost every Arnold film, as well as in a few others like Gladiator or Captain Power and the Soldiers of the Future. The resistance leader was Mic Fleetwood, who was in Fleetwood Mac. As the "Fleetwood" part. The dance choreographer on this was Miss Paula Abdul, who was about a year away from her first album being released. It did well. For other films to try out, might I suggest Commando, Red Heat or Raw Deal from the Arnie camp? (Commando is the best of the three, but not many reactions to the other two). For non-Arnie, Runaway (from 1984) or Freejack (1992) would keep to the dystopian theme or for non-dystopian, try Road House, Escape from New York or Tango and Cash.
30:30 When Arnold says: "I wouldn´t want to be a liar", it´s a reference to Commando (1985) where he says: "I lied". I won´t give the exact context because it could be considered a spoiler.
The book 'the Running Man' is credited to Richard Bachman. This is the name used for science fiction work by Steven King. Jesse Ventura (Captain Freedom) spat chewing tobacco across Dylan's boot in Predator. Yaphet Kotto was Parker in Alien. Maria Conchita Alonso was a cop in Predator 2. I believe that Killian (Richard Dawson) was a real game show host. Sven (Sven Ole Thorson) was Arnie's training partner.
A couple of casting notes: Yaphet Kotto played Laughlin. You've seen him in Live and Let Die, where he played the main villain Dr. Kananga. Mick, the leader of the resistance is Mick Fleetwood, drummer for Fleetwood Mac. Captain Freedom was Jessie Ventura, Cooper "I ain't got time to bleed" in Predator. He later became governor of Minnesota.
This is another one of those movies that I'm surprised no one has tried to remake today. It's whole message is still very relevant, maybe even more so now, and it's such a great vehicle for popcorn action.
If you are going to do classic TV shows, you could start off with a poll. Some classics I would suggest are: "The Andy Griffith Show", "Happy Days", "Three's Company", "W.K.R.P.", "MASH", "Night Court", "All in the Family", "The Jeffersons", "Sanford and Son", "Family Ties"(Michael J Fox), "Bosom Buddies" (Tom Hanks), "Mork and Mindy" (Robin Williams).
It's not often that a movie will star two future state governors, Jesse Ventura - Minnesota 1999-2003, Arnold Schwartzenegger - California 2003-2011. Richard Dawson was the long time host of the syndicated game show "Family Feud". Mick ("beam me up, Scotty") was played by Fleetwood Mac drummer Mick Fleetwood.
The end credits ballad is 'Restless Heart' by John Parr, in case you were struggling to identify it. When I first watched this movie, Shazam was decades away. Compared to all the electronica in the main score, it doesn't fit at all, but as a cheesy song in a cheesy movie, it's perfect.
One of the more meta examples of stunt-casting was getting Richard Dawson to play the host of The Running Man game show - after a moderately successful early career as an actor and comedian, he became the original host of the Family Feud game show from '76 to '85. He was known for kissing the female contestants ("for love and luck") despite the networks repeated entreaties that he stop.
Hi, Jen! Richard Bachman is one of Stephen King's pseudonyms. I liked the changes from his original story to this movie. Jesse Ventura is a former Navy UDT frogman turned pro wrestler who worked with Arnie in "Predator" and was later elected to become the Governor of Minnesota.
I'd still like to see a more book-accurate adaptation... Though I admit the protagonist in that one was pretty unlikable. It seemed to fit in the context of the world he lived in. But now that i think of the ending, I guess I can see why it hasn't been filmed.
@@jean-paulaudette9246 The ending where he flies the plane into the building while flipping them off? Yeah. That's not going to happen for a few generations.
@@jean-paulaudette9246I actually prefer the book but to each their own. The movie is eighties cheese and the book is much darker. I appreciate both but the book is better IMHO.
Last I heard, Edgar Wright was supposed to direct a new adaption that was more faithful to the book. I've been hearing that for years though, so who knows if it is ever going to happen.
Jesse 'The Body' Ventura, is from WWE/WWF in the 80s, but also was in Predator, Mr "Ain't got time to bleed!" Also, was the Governor of Minnesota. I believe he's a former Navy Seal as well.
4:21 "Based on the novel The Running Man.".. "Richard Bachman" is actually an alias for Stephen King, who wrote afew (eight) stories under this pseudonym. - In my youth I read alot of Stephen King, including The Running Man. Tho it was so long ago I don't remember very much from it, but I do remember I thought it was a really good story.
This movie is so great. It came out when we were 15. When we turned 16, we created our own version of The Running Man, where two runners set out, and two groups of three in cars would try to find them, then jump out of the cars and chase them. We started at the Jr High and ended at the 7/11 many miles away. We’d run through people’s back yards and everything. Had the cops called on us a couple times. 😂 Now that I think about it, I can’t believe we ran that far! Ah, youthful energy…
That song with the dancers is Paula's Theme as Paula Abdul was the choreographer. The music was a great mix of techno and rock. It can be found here on UA-cam
This was an awesome movie back in the day, saw it in theatres. Great reaction Jen, love your enthusiasm in all your videos. I remembered a fun movie with cheese from 1988 called "They Live" with Roddy Piper that I would recommend. Funny how all these types of movies have Pro Wrestlers in them. Jesse Ventura who was in Predator, was also a Pro Wrestler and the Governor of Minnesota.
32:46 Sven is Sven-Ole Thorson, a close personal friend of Arnold from his competition days. Arnie tries to get Sven in any movie he's in. He's the Russian officer Arnie shoots in "Predator" after he says, "Knock, knock." He is Thorgrim in "Conan the Barbarian", Togra in "Conan the Destroyer", nameless bodyguard in "Red Sonja" and "Raw Deal", Nikolai in "Red Heat", Sam Klane in "Twins" (really NEED to watch this for the channel), Mall Security in "Terminator 2", Gunman in "Last Action Hero", Russian Gunman in "Eraser", and finally Bomb Victim in "Collateral Damage." Sven has had his own success in finding work, but he and Arnie remain friends
Surprised you didn’t recognize Yaphet Kotto (Laughlin) he played Kananga in Live and Let Die. Also, football great Jim Brown (Fireball) is in a classic war movie The Dirty Dozen (1967), great movie, definitely worth watching. Lastly Jesse Ventura (Captain Freedom) was also in Predator (1987) with Arnold.
The girl in Running Man who co-stars with Arnold was the lady cop in Predator 2. Also, Captain Freedom, played by Jesse Ventura, was in the original Predator with Arnold. He played Blain. -OG
So, for some names and faces you didn't recognize: Jesse Ventura, who played Captain Freedom in this, was in "Predator" as Blain, the guy with the minigun and the MTV t-shirt. The guy who in battle said "I ain't got time to bleed." The black companion of Ben Richards is played by Yaphet Kotto, who played Kananga / Mr. Big in "James Bond - Live And Let Die". Sven, the bodyguard of Killian, is Sven-Ole Thorsen, a widely known face in many movies of that era, and a close friend of Arnold Schwarzenegger. He hardly plays any major roles, but in several movies he appears as side characters or extras. He was in "Predator", too, as the guy who shot the hostage before the attack. Also in "Hunt for Red October" as a Russian sailor. Richard Bachman - the person who wrote the original novel - is actually an alias for Stephen King. And the music composer is Harold Faltermeyer, best known for his music for "Top Gun" and "Beverly Hills Cop".
"That's not what happened!" I really enjoy how comically fascistic Running Man is, and a lot of what they use to oppress people (selective editing, false narratives, AI deepfakes) have become all too common in our dystopia as well.
Hi, Jen! This story was actually written by Stephen King, of all people, under his pseudonym of "Richard Bachman". In the original story, the end comes when Richards flies a passenger jet into a skyscraper in a final assault on Killian. I don't think we would have appreciated that ending much today....
Love your reaction to Arnie, Jen... His one liners are entirely awful, but so entirely memorable. Yapphet Kotto was the black actor in an entirely underplayed role. And Maria Conchita-Alonso, she killed it then and kills it now. And of course Killian the villian (I know), Richard Dawson (Family Feud, etc) playing a caricature of a gameshow host or himself??? Take that as you will. Watch it every once in a blue moon. But wouldn't miss it if I never saw it again. Written by Stephen King (Bachman)
The scene @5:00 the guy in the red beret is Dweezil Zappa, son of musician Frank Zappa. The gray haired bearded guy is Mick Fleetwood from the band Fleetwood Mac.
The security guard is played by Sven-Ole Thorsen, he’s a old friend of Arnold from their bodybuilding days and has appeared almost every one of his movies. He has also appeared in Lethal Weapon, The Hunt for Red October, and The Quick and The Dead.
Yet another A++ reaction! This movie was way ahead of its time, predicting media manipulation and showing how people in general are becoming less empathetic and more desensitised. I love that you recognized the melody and sang along in the very first scene! I also love that this movie brought out your ruthless side. Best quotes: " IN THE BALLS? IN THE BALLS??! then later: " this movie hates balls!" 😅😅😅 another great one Jen! Can't wait until next time!❤
Another movie from this era that focuses on media manipulation through subliminal advertising is the Michael Crichton directed sci-fi movie Looker (1981). Crichton managed to be forward looking about tech advances in a lot of his movies.
You should remember Jessie Ventura from Predator. He was the big guy with the minimum. Another Arnold movie. Lol Also, the black guy that gets chainsawed was in Alien. This is one of the rare instances where the movie is better than the book. There's only a passing resemblance between the movie and the book.
Written by Stephen King - he used his pen name here though. You'll remember Jessie as the chewing tobacco - big gun - "Ain't got time to bleed" guy from Predator. He (like Arnie) was also a Governor - Jessie of Minnesota - Arnold of California
Running Man and Predator - 2 movies with 2 future Govenors. Schwarzenegger for California and Ventura for Minnesota. Also, Richard Dawson was beloved as host of the t.v. show Family Feud.
Other Arnold Schwarzenegger movies to watch include Pumping Iron, Conan the Barbarian, Commando, Red Heat, Twins and Eraser. This was loosely adapted from the Stephen King novel of the same name
Kitchen! Snack, please. hahaha You're wonderful Jen, never change. And I'm in love with the 80s whole vibe as i'm sure everyone else here too. The best to you, yours and the folks in the comment section.
This was shot at the height of the solid gold dancers, who inspired the scantily clad dancers in the movie. And in a case of studios taking exactly the wrong message from something, a few years after this, the show American Gladiators assaulted our TV screens.
Great reaction Jen! Anaconda isn't terrible. It's not great, but it's certainly a passable cult classic creature feature film that's definitely worth a watch. John Voight was great as always. Owen Wilson's always fun to watch. Ice Cube was surprisingly good as well given that it's not his typical kind of role. I'd stay away from the sequels though. They get progressively worse and more absurd, and not in a good way. Another movie in the same vein as Anaconda is Lake Placid which was surprisingly good. Betty White has a hilarious bit part in it and steals every scene she's in. Also, definitely watch Squid Game!
11:46 There's this show that played in the US called "Rollergames", which was essentially just roller derby with a late 80's rock'n'roll theme, but it feels like the whole show is some fever dream heavily induced by The Running Man😜 15:23 For as many times as I've seen this, I never realized that's Charlie's mom from It's Always Sunny!
HI Jen, great reaction as usual. another great 'cheesy' movie is John Carpenter's THEY LIVE. btw, Mic was played by Mick Fleetwood, of the band Fleetwood Mac and Stevie was played by Dweezil Zappa, son of Frank Zappa. please keep the reactions coming.
My *FAVORITE* Arnie film. I'm sure someone has already mentioned that the writer of the book its based on, Richard Bachman, is really Stephen King, but this is another example of how movies of King's stories are always better when the directors do not follow the source material completely. Much like Kubrick's The Shining, this film takes many liberties with the plot and all for the better. Also, because I'm contractually obligated to: CADRE COLA: IT HITS THE SPOT
I want to agree with you but the examples you give are dreadful lol. "The Running Man" Novel is way better than this movie...as for Kubricks "Shining", I'm torn because the first half of the movie is very kubrick-dull, the second half is kubrick-amazing...so. In either case the books are better (although Mr Kubrick did a way better job). "Misery" is a good example of a King Film that does it better...maybe Carrie is there too? Firestarter isn't a terrible movie...
I hard disagree. Shawshank and Green Mile are the best King adaptations, and they are very close to the source material. This movie is a ton of fun, but I think the serious tone of the original story is just as good - they are different enough that it's hard to even compare them.
@@jsalvatori You are right about Shawshank...and dnish6673 is right about Stand by Me. (I would say that both books are a bit slim and on the margins but I do agree they worked really well as films.)
Pretty sure several have mentioned that Mick Fleetwood was the drummer for Fleetwood Mack, but also the young fighter in the beret who says, "Don't touch that dial,", a well-known saying in early television, he is Dweezle Zappa, the son of the amazing music artist, Frank Zappa. Love just about everything Arnold has done. Keep it up, Jen. So much more to see.
Fun fact.. The white haired guy who takes off Arnolds exploding collar is Mick Fleetwood from Fleetwood Mac! at 22:23 minutes they say the need to get the codes back to Mick at the resistance. 😂
Love your reactions..love that you're a fellow Canadian. Anaconda is terribly underrated. It's a classic. Great movie. Would love to see your reaction to that....and also The Meg!
I second both of these reaction recommendations! And if Jen is going to react to ridiculous Animal-Turned-Monster movies, I'd like to add "Lake Placid" to the list!
underrated creature features, i'd throw in cujo, deep blue sea, crawl, has she seen arachnophobia? the ghost and the darkness, brotherhood of the wolf. All i can think of right now.
@@theeLonelyRedPanda I always hesitate to recommend "Arachnophobia" because so few reactors are willing to do it. And there have even been a few that promised to do it and then backed out.
"HE STABBED 'IM!" 😂😂 between that line and the air bongos at the start of the running man Dancers number this has to be one of the all time best Jen reactions. It's nice to see someone having so much fun with an Arnie/Stephen King story.
So, the author of the book that this movie is named after and based on, is Richard Bachman, which was Stephen King's pseudonym. The game show host was the original game show host of Family Feud (Richard Dawson) and Jesse Ventura (the big guy with the moustache) was a former WWF/WWE wrestler in the 1980's and was the Governor of Minnesota AND he was an actor in Predator alongside Arnold.
So fun to see this film reacted to! Big part of my childhood. Seeing how much you enjoyed that one, I feel you HAVE to watch Commando as that film distills everything Arnie into the perfect cheesy 80s package and has some of the best one-liners of his career, and has a very similar tone to Running Man. If you want a more serious Arnie film, go with Conan the Barbarian, which is actually my favorite film of all time (one of very few truly GOOD pre-LotR fantasy films out there) and has a soundtrack to rival the greatest.
Jesse Ventura was a pro wrestler-Jesse "The Body" Ventura. He was also in Predator along side Arnold. Richard Dawson was on the 1960's sitcom Hogans Heroes and hosted Family Feud for several years. Jesses Ventura was also a mayor or Governor. I can't remember off hand though. Yaphet Koto played Kanega in James Bond Live and Let Die, and was Parker in Alien.
Jesse Ventura was also in Predator, which you've watched. :-) The HUGE bodyguard, Sven Ole-Thorsen, was one of Ah-nuld's body doubles, IIRC, and had worked with him for years, appearing in approximately 12 of Arnold's movies in a supporting role, both credited and uncredited...
ThIs is still a gulity pleasure as many ARNIE vehicles do tend to be !😅 i am sooo late i did intend to comment much earlier , but here i am nonetheless yes way back when this was on VHS i put it on for a bored summer school class i was in then i offered some comic relief with my RUNNING commentary and impressions .😉 Yes Jen great review as usual since you love James Bond you may have spotted two old bond villains Sub Zero played by Prof Toru Tanaka who played ODDJOB in GOLDFINGER . William Loughlin played by Yaphet Kotto who also played Mr Big in Live and Let Die . always look forward to your reviews Jen Have a lovely day !😃🙏
I have always enjoyed Richard Dawson as Killian in this movie. Richard Dawson was on tv in Hogan's Heroes in the late 60's early 70's. a panelist on Match Game in the 70's and the original Family Feud host in the mid 70's through the mid 80's.
13:00 It's already happening, with news media at large and has been for a long time. This movie is one of many that showcases how easy people believe the lies that the media tells them.
Your energy in every video is wonderful! If you want another cheesy action film from Arnold you need to watch Last Action hero. You won't be disappointed!
"I'm as bloodthirsty as the Running Man audience." - Jen Murray Hi Jen 🙋♂️ At this point in his career, Arnold made the decision to never be the bad guy anymore in any of his movies. He kept that streak going until played Mr. Freeze, in the 1997 movie, Batman & Robin. Yes, Arnold played the villain to Batman. It wasn't a good movie, but he really got into his role and had fun with it. Kinda like in this movie. Also, the Running Man is a short story written by Stephen King, using his pen name, Richard Bachman. The pen name allowed Stephen King to write several short novels and stories that weren't horror based. Thanks Jen 🙋♂️🍾🥂🍾 I'll be back.
Great movie. One of my favorite Arnold movies it is so underrated. It was overshadowed by the the success of Predator that came out at the same year. Other great Arnold movies is Conan The Barbarian (Arnie breakout role and a epic movie with epic soundtrack), Twins , End Of Days and Collateral Damage. Fun fact the leader of the resistance Mic is an actual Singer of the Fleetwood Mack a famous rock band. The bad guy was an actual show host. Fyi the novel the movie is loosely based on was written by Steven King but in my opinion 10 times better than the book.
"Commando" and "Raw Deal" are 2 of Arnold's other funny-tagline super-action films that are total popcorn crunching, point at the screen and react kind of movies. From the same era, there is also "Freejack" with an all-star cast that is a lot of fun, including Mick Jagger of the Rolling Stones rock band during his "also a bit of acting" years.
Star Trek TOS on UA-cam? Awesome! A show with a message that's sadly as needed today as it was in the 60s - and with some great stories. Very excited :)
I hope she also does TNG, DS9, Voyager and Enterprise series, cuz they are all alot better than TOS imo. TOS was about 34% brilliant 33% ok, and 33% blecchhh. I can forgive them that, as Roddenberry was a pioneer and the genre was really underdeveloped until that time. It looks cheesy now, but in it's time, those special effects were ground breaking. I hope she loves it and then wants to see the others, cuz she will be pleasantly surprised at the increase in quality of all the facets of production.
Top drawer reaction of this forgotten gem! You're love of 80's kitsch is ace! From a girl who saw Arnie for the first time in Terminator at the cinema in the Uk in 1984, I can say that the special on Netflix is worth a watch
Fun fact. Richard Bachman, who wrote the novel, is actually Stephen King. He wrote under a pseudonym early in his career. Also a fun fact, this is the second movie that starred Arnold that was originally meant to star Christopher Reeve (Superman). The other was Total Recall.
I heard was that the reason Stephen King released this under a pseudonym was that he didn’t want people to expect the usual horror and judge it on it merits not expectation.

Freejack is worth it for Mick Jagger.
You forgot Dweezil Zappa, son of Frank Zappa.
A few loose connections: Maria Conchita Alonso was also in Predator 2, and Asian hockey stalker Toru Tanaka was also in Last Action Hero.
I'd say Escape from NY is pretty dystopian...
Raw Deal is also one of my favorites
This film has Arnie’s best one-liner’s and made him into a legend amongst those of us who grew up in the 80’s.
Jen, your laugh is great - "what happened to Buzzsaw" "nyah hah hah hee". It always brings a smile to my face too.
You should definitely watch Anaconda! It's firmly in the "so bad it's good" category-- lots of fun. Jon Voight does an accent for the ages.
“Buzzed his own balls.”
She’s the f’n best! 😂
Actually, it was announced last year that they are going to make one.
🎯
It's TOO relevant.
"Gamer" (2009) is essentially "The Running Man" as an FPS videogame instead of a TV show.
@@chrisleebowers I guess a little bit. But it was a pretty terrible movie
They originally wanted Chuck Woolery to play Killian but he wasn't available, so Arnold suggested Richard Dawson, who was a friend of his
For me, this is peak goofy one-liners and one of Arnold’s most underrated movies.
Hi, Jen! Richard Bachman is one of Stephen King's pseudonyms. I liked the changes from his original story to this movie. Jesse Ventura is a former Navy UDT frogman turned pro wrestler who worked with Arnie in "Predator" and was later elected to become the Governor of Minnesota.
He's a busy guy. No wonder he doesn't have time to bleed.
My favourite movie from childhood. It has everything you need in an 80s action movie.
NOT one of my favorite movies, but hearing you cackle & enjoy this movie is such a treat! Thank you! 🏃🏼👟
They Live is an absolute must!
Lol only now I realized the guy from Predator. Also the main actress was in Predator 2 I think.
32:46 Sven is Sven-Ole Thorson, a close personal friend of Arnold from his competition days. Arnie tries to get Sven in any movie he's in.
He's the Russian officer Arnie shoots in "Predator" after he says, "Knock, knock." He is Thorgrim in "Conan the Barbarian", Togra in "Conan the Destroyer", nameless bodyguard in "Red Sonja" and "Raw Deal", Nikolai in "Red Heat", Sam Klane in "Twins" (really NEED to watch this for the channel), Mall Security in "Terminator 2", Gunman in "Last Action Hero", Russian Gunman in "Eraser", and finally Bomb Victim in "Collateral Damage."
Sven has had his own success in finding work, but he and Arnie remain friends
LaFours from Mallrats! Snoochie boochies
-OG
So, for some names and faces you didn't recognize:
Jesse Ventura, who played Captain Freedom in this, was in "Predator" as Blain, the guy with the minigun and the MTV t-shirt. The guy who in battle said "I ain't got time to bleed."
The black companion of Ben Richards is played by Yaphet Kotto, who played Kananga / Mr.
"That's not what happened!"
I really enjoy how comically fascistic Running Man is, and a lot of what they use to oppress people (selective editing, false narratives, AI deepfakes) have become all too common in our dystopia as well.
Cherry 2000, Ice Pirates, Spacehunter, Hell Comes to Frogtown. I believe all of them are on Tubi.
Hi, Jen! This story was actually written by Stephen King, of all people, under his pseudonym of "Richard Bachman". In the original story, the end comes when Richards flies a passenger jet into a skyscraper in a final assault on Killian. I don't think we would have appreciated that ending much today....
"Buzz him with his own saw" I luv it
Love your reaction to Arnie, Jen...

Yet another A++ reaction! This movie was way ahead of its time, predicting media manipulation and showing how people in general are becoming less empathetic and more desensitised. I love that you recognized the melody and sang along in the very first scene! I also love that this movie brought out your ruthless side. Best quotes: " IN THE BALLS? Thanks T! This one was a riot! 😂🔥
Another movie from this era that focuses on media manipulation through subliminal advertising is the Michael Crichton directed sci-fi movie Looker (1981). Crichton managed to be forward looking about tech advances in a lot of his movies.
@@TerryNationB7 Seconding Looker. I have it on DVD!
You should remember Jessie Ventura from Predator. He was the big guy with the minimum. Another Arnold movie. Lol
Also, the black guy that gets chainsawed was in Alien.
This is one of the rare instances where the movie is better than the book. There's only a passing resemblance between the movie and the book.
Written by Stephen King - he used his pen name here though. You'll remember Jessie as the chewing tobacco - big gun - "Ain't got time to bleed" guy from Predator. He (like Arnie) was also a Governor - Jessie of Minnesota - Arnold of California
it was pointed out that

Love watching movies with you Jen, Thanks for sharing your time and personality with us.
11:46 There's this show that played in the US called "Rollergames", which was essentially just roller derby with a late 80's rock'n'roll theme, but it feels like the whole show is some fever dream heavily induced by The Running Man😜
15:23 For as many times as I've seen this, I never realized that's Charlie's mom from It's Always Sunny!
Best response to "I'll Be BAck" ever, "Only in a rerun."
Also, because I'm contractually obligated to:
CADRE COLA: IT HITS THE SPOT
@@AutoAlligator I had forgotten about stand by me, but agree it's great as well
Pretty sure several have mentioned that Mick Fleetwood was the drummer for Fleetwood Mack, but also the young fighter in the beret who says, "Don't touch that dial,", a well-known saying in early television, he is Dweezle Zappa, the son of the amazing music artist, Frank Zappa. Love just about everything Arnold has done. Keep it up, Jen. So much more to see.
One of my favorite not serious action movies is Hudson Hawk from the early 90s. Everyone hated it because it wasnt Die Hard. But its really fun.
Great shout I love Hudson Hawk "oh would you like to swing on a star" 🤣🤣🤣
Hudson Hawk is one of my favorite "so bad it's good" movies!
“I’m gonna speak to the dolphins now…EEEE EE EEEEEK!!!” 😂
Though Richard E Grant reportedly hates it, I love his performance in Hudson Hawk. It's such a weird little gem.

"HE STABBED 'IM!" 😂😂 between that line and the air bongos at the start of the running man Dancers number this has to be one of the all time best Jen reactions. It's nice to see someone having so much fun with an Arnie/Stephen King story.
I've watched this so many times over the decades. Hilarious cheesy fun.
"For us, there is no spring. Just the wind that smells fresh before the storm." - Conan
Conan is so great. The books are even better.
4:24 -- Novel by Richard Bachman.. Which was a pen name used by none other than Stephen King.. :)
The HUGE bodyguard, Sven Ole-Thorsen, was one of Ah-nuld's body doubles, IIRC, and had worked with him for years, appearing in approximately 12 of Arnold's movies in a supporting role, both credited and uncredited...
Yes Jen! EMBRACE THE CHEESE!

I have always enjoyed Richard Dawson as Killian in this movie. Richard Dawson was on tv in Hogan's Heroes in the late 60's early 70's. a panelist on Match Game in the 70's and the original Family Feud host in the mid 70's through the mid 80's.
Arnies personal 1 liner festival of humourous gags 😂😂😂😂😂😂

Killian: "Only in re-runs."
Two funniest quotes in the film.
Your energy in every video is wonderful! If you want another cheesy action film from Arnold you need to watch Last Action hero. You won't be disappointed!

Hi Jen 🙋♂️
At this point in his career, Arnold made the decision to never be the bad guy anymore in any of his movies.
Thanks Jen 🙋♂️🍾🥂🍾
I'll be back.
His name is Mick Fleetwood and he's the drummer for Fleetwood Mac not the singer 😊
DS9, Voyager, and Enterrise are all worse than TOS.
@@DeltaAssaultGaming Why do you say that?

The guy who played killians body guard Sven is Sven-Ole Thorsen, a close friend of Arnie's, he appears in a few of his movies, and the guy who played Mick, the resistance leader is Mick Fleetwood, lead singer of Fleetwood Mac!
