You got the UK Version! haha. The whole "Pizza Hut" joke was specifically for the UK at the time. In the original cut, the restaurant is Taco Bell, but Taco Bell didn't exist in the UK at the time (and still sort of doesn't, in most places) so they thought that the joke wouldn't translate. In the UK cut they changed it to something we'd know (Pizza Hut). However, in some scenes you can still see the Taco bell logo in the background.

I love it when Stallone says "Hurting people is not a good thing! Well, sometimes it is, but not when it's a bunch of people trying to get something to eat." I say Stallone instead of Spartan because that line was a deliciously self aware poke at his own career as an action movie icon.

In the US, Taco Bell won The Franchise Wars! Which is why it looked dubbed. They actually said Taco Bell, and that's why they had fancy Taco Bell food on their plates. They changed it for the European market because in 1993, Taco Bell was unknown over there at the time. Sucks they felt they had to change it.

Demolition Man is actually inspired by Aldous Huxley's book, Brave New World, which is often considered to be a companion to George Orwell's 1984 as a warning about society's efforts to create a utopian state ultimately leading to totalitarianism. This is also why Sandra Bullock's character is named Lenina Huxley. Huxley, of course, refers to the last name of author Aldous Huxley. "Lenina Crowne " is the name of the central female character in Brave New World, and her first name is a female variation of Vladimir Lenin's last name.

On the theme of historical violence, the fusion blaster thingie from the museum looks to be a mockup of a Heckler & Koch G11, an experimental gun which I recall fired a salvo of three projectiles with each cartridge and was caseless, meaning there was nothing to eject-every part of the ammo goes out the front of the gun. As such it's kind of the closest we've come to the M41a pulse rifle from Aliens.
I haven't looked it up recently, but I think it didn't work out because the ammo was brittle, among other things, but that's an easy guess because that's the problem that has plagued caseless ammunition every time it's been tried.

So it was funny because for the marketing of the film MTV had a behind the scenes special showing the explosion of the building in the beginning. They legit brew up a building that was planned for demolition.
The Pizza Hut thing was for international release of the film. I’m unsure why they don’t keep the Taco Bell as it’s the original franchise.

Taco Bell didn't care and because Pizza Hut and Taco Bell was owned by the same company, they decided to use Pizza Hut in the international cut because Pizza Hut was more well known in other countries.

I knew the name from the song by The Police and that Grace Jones did a cover of it.
For this movie, that is a new version performed by Sting.
Stallone and Snipes were gold in this one
Humor, action and plenty of one liners.
A lot of foreshadowings in this society are so well displayed (smart and scary).
There was toys, video games (Genesis, SNES, PS1, 3D0), an actual tie-in
with Taco Bell (collector's cups, posters) as seen in the Stateside version of the film.
The international version of the movie (especially Asia) had Pizza Hut tie-ins instead.
Demolition Man 2 was is in the works.
    But not anymore.
At least, we still have just the one.

I never knew they had a version of this film where they replaced Taco Bell with Pizza Hut. This is trippy. The three sea shells was a joke, but the guy who came up with it; actually made up how to use them. You take two and stick them together between your palm and fingers to use as tweezers to remove any large bits, then you dump them in the toilet. You then use the third shell to scrape anything left behind, throw it in the loo and flush...

"All swears are muted because UA-cam restricts my videos with swearing" - Jen Murry
    Hi Jen🙋‍♂️
I didn't realize your swearing was getting out of control. Maybe it's the summer heat making your Canadian blood boiling mad.
Also... "Verbal morality statute...UA-cam, hello." - nicely done Jen BTW.
But all joking aside, I'm going to have to disagree with you on MVP. That honor definitely should've gone to Wesley Snipes. People knew what to expect from Stallone, but Wesley's villain took villainy to a new level. So much so, that NBA basketballer Dennis Rodman dyed his hair the same as Simon Phoenix.
You need to see more Wesley Snipe movies, he's got some bangers. From comedy, drama, to action Wesley has a wide range. Comedy like Wildcats (1986) with Goldie Hawn, Major League (1989), U.S. Marshals (1998) w Tommy Lee Jones, Rising Sun (1993) w Sean Connery, Passenger 57 (1992)...and of course his crown jewel, Blade (1998) and it's two sequels.

It was fun seeing some of the Pizza Hut version (the obvious dubs reminded me of the old TV dubbed versions of films, where you could still see the swear words, even if they’d been dubbed over!)! I think they did different fast-food chains for different territories and spent quite a bit of money on VFX to change the signage in the movie, but over here in the UK they used the original Taco Bell version (at least on video, which is how I first saw it). I remember wondering what the heck Taco Bell was!
As for other 90s actiony sci-fi Stallone pics, Jen, I think I’d recommend Judge Dredd (1995). Fans of the original comic understandably hated it, but I thought it was good fun and you would probably enjoy it just for what it is, without all the fandom baggage and stuff. There’s quite a lot of similarities to Demolition Man in the story, now I come to think of it… hmm…

Speaking of dubbing that was "inaccurate," I remember turning on the Tv one afternoon and seeing then end of an episode of "Battle of the Planets" (a dubbed version of the Japanese "Science Ninja Team Gatchaman" series). It was obvious that a character had been fatally wounded and that the other characters were emotionally devastated by his death, but the English dubbed dialogue said something like "He's only sleeping. He'll be alright. But we'll never rest until we get the villains for hurting him!" to make it acceptable for American children's TV.
