    Also mike, I love the videos mate it makes it heaps easier to make pickup decisions, there’s nothing else like them on the internet clear and to the point .

    Fusion Edge all day for me, Fishman sounds compressed, thinner and I can even detect a slight 'hum' behind the lower notes on the clean sections, which isn't present on the Fusions!

    DiMarzio FUSION EDGE 7👍🎵

    The DiMarzio sounds fuller and richer to me while fishman sounds more compressed

      Totally agree with you! Both pickups are great but i prefer the Fusion Edge

      In person, I can at least confirm the compression issue to be the case with the fluence moderns. I test drove some on a strandberg Boden original 8 and they definitely got some compression going on

      Yeah the Dimarzio sounds better, weird since they often come in cheaper guitars than the Fishman. I do think however the Dimarzio Super Distortions pickups sounds better distorted than both the Edge fusion and the Fishman fluence modern.

    I have Fluence modern on a 6 string, and it sounds massive compared to other passive pickups in other guitars i own.
    But here that Fusion edge when played clean has more body than the Fluence.
    Now the Fluence handles distortion better in my ears opinion. Due to it having more initial attack.

    I have personally always been a fan of the Fusion Edge pups. I see most Ibanez owners rip them out asap. They are slightly muddy with the high gain, but they are very lively and organic imho. I do like the Fishman voice 2 though.

      Im gonna learn to love them I suppose. I have an iron label coming with these fusion edge pickups in it. I play alot of high gain heavy metal, hope they work for me for the time being
      I do like how they are organic sounding. How would you compare them to emgs?

      Shouldn't be a problem. They are definitely not as bad as some people say they are. They are infinitely much better than the old v7/V8 pickups, even though that doesn't say much. The only problem is that they are trying to be too much "allround". If they had been as tight as the DiMarzio Titans, they would be the best stock pickups out there (for metal at least).

    Fishman seemed smoother with rounder edges to each note more definition than dimarzio to my ears. More noticeably during the hammer ons. In a live situation (loud volumes) both would work for me. After a couple of songs ear fatigue becomes a factor and only the guitar players in the audience might notice a difference if you would switch between the two. Thanks, God bless all n rock on.

    Dimarzios sound more raw. Fishmans sound more processed. I’d say for live performance dimarzio, for album recording fishmans.

    The fast bit of the riff at 6:15 sounded clearest on the Dimarzio. I do like Voice 2 of the Fishmans though.

    Can't wait to see Fusion vs Alpha Omega.
    Also interested in hearing DiMarzio Blaze, they have them for 7 string too. Some say they'd put one for the neck , plus D Activator for Bridge. Maybe Alpha Omega in Bridge will be better.
    It's supposed to have a mids scooped out profile.

    • @juliandelrio
      @juliandelrio 2 роки тому +1

      Blaze 7 Is a scooped pickup. For sure not a modern pickup , not tight at all, low output with too much bass..i never liked it for modern metal. D activator are way better, split coil sound Is amazing too.

    Hey Mike,
    I’m really curious about the new Seymour Duncan noumenon Jeff Loomis pickups. It would be awesome if you can do a comparison up against say, the omega or Nazgul. No one seems interested in these and I trust your comparisons.
    Thanks !

      Hey man, I bought the noumenon bridge pickup but haven’t installed it yet. I have very little time to actually work on my guitars lately since I have a 2 y/o that demands my time. lol
      Would you be interested in me sending you the pickup to do some demos ?
      Not many people seem to be interested in this pickup and Your pickup demos are great ! I’d really like to see how it holds up against a few specific pups. 🤘

    Gotta go the fishman, voice one is much crunchier and then voice two is very similar to dimarzio so you get both essentially

  • @jtwidmer6185

    They both sound great. As a consumer though, I’m probably going with the Fusion. While I can tel some difference, I don’t think that difference is worth the price tag on the Fishman.

    Have you done a review/comparison of the 6 string Fusion Edge?

    • @mikestamper
      @mikestamper  2 роки тому +2

      Not yet! My 6 string Fusion Edge is "trapped" in a baritone 6 string with different tuning. Whenever I liberate it from that guitar, I'll test it in my test guitar to do the comparisons.

    Fishman Fluence Modern sounds like somewhere between Fusion Edge and EMG-81

    do they fit if you just swap them out looking to buy an ibanez iron label and it comes with the fusion edge i want to swap them for lunderen m7's but those are the tiny non soap bar pickup cavity. thank you bro

    • @damienhelmold6978
      @damienhelmold6978 2 роки тому +1

      shit the ones in the iron label 7 come with soap bar looking ones.

    • @mikestamper
      @mikestamper  2 роки тому +1

      DiMarzios don't exist in soapbar format, so don't worry about that. Your Fusions are probably covered, but that's not a problem. They are perfectly swappable with any other non-soapbar 7 string pickup. Lundgren M7s are also available in both formats, soapbar and standard. Standard one will fit perfect.

    Fusion edge's are actually terrible pickups for low tuned distortion. They are muddy af. I'm glad to see Ibanez phasing these things out and replacng them with pickups that can handle the genre of music their guitars are built for.
