You got that right! Then I take it out yesterday and drove it about 150 miles and it ran amazing! I never even put on the new module or coil I bought. lol
That is a cool looking area. Ashbee was in there for tech support 😊 when i had the prestolite dist i carried an extra dist and control module for just this reason. Need to start carrying some hei stuff now. When you get time i made a list of stuff to add. My delay brain always kicks in on things i didnt mention. Some important and some not.
@@redclaytraveler1949 the way it's acting I think I would do the module before I went anywhere. On the info I thought of concerns the borgeson steering boxes made in USA. Also Moses ludels books and some transmission info. I made a list so I don't forget.
@@redclaytraveler1949 I made a mistake. On your clutch problem I said you could get a throw out bearing at the parts store. When I said that I was thinking about your cj5. The bearing for the v6 is the rare one. If we need a measurement I have a new one from carquest that is correct. Also I'm pulling the one I run so I will make sure to get a measurement.
Hey Dean, new subscriber from Alabama. Me and my rescue pitties are enjoying your channel. Picked up a’79 CJ5 a while back and they love wheeling with me. Life is good.
I’ve heard of that, in this case my tank is rust free and my carb was clean. I did have trouble in the past with the tanks internal coats pealing and getting sucked into my carb.
10:26 "You should buy a jeep, especially an ancient one ..." bought a cj2a estimated at October '46 (all tags torn off, going by the locked up engine serial number). I blame you.
I'm glad you got it running where it didn't spoil the day. I have a hard time trusting mine too, just don't know when the old parts will give it up. I still have the original Ford ignition system on it, easy to find parts, but you never know when it's going to quit working. The ignition has never actually given me any trouble I suppose, to be fair.
I understand the feeling. I keep changing parts as they fail and I keep an eye on things I know are going to fail eventually. I have bought a new module and coil to keep in the Jeep. I also bought a carb kit and new fan belt for the trail kit. I need a spare fuel pump as well but I haven’t decided which one to keep in the Jeep as my backup. My rear end has started whining at higher speeds. I’m not going to worry about it right now but it surprised me because when I installed a new diff gasket everything inside looked fine. I know it will fail eventually but I know it can sound worse than it really is because it’s right behind me and sounds louder echoing on the steel floor. lol I just resolve myself to enjoy the Jeep and try to keep it driving. I know I need a clutch, a steering box, and new ball joints. lol My transmission kicks out of 3rd , which is common, but I know the transmission will need rebuilt in the future but it doesn’t have to ruin my fun today. I’m going to change the timing chain next and move on to steering but between the repairs I’m going to drive it. I find the best way to find out its weak points is to drive it. I use to only drive it short distances and then I moved up to 20 miles. Yesterday I drove it about 160 miles round trip and it did fantastic. I guess what I’m saying it drive your Jeep as far as your comfortable but give it a little faith and you’ll be surprised. I’m sure your rig is in far better shape than mine. lol
That’s what I thought as well, I’m not convinced it was because it would be the first time it’s ever done that and I also add good fuel at the carb. The stories I see of vapor lock usually show the Jeep not running at all , mine would run but very poorly. It’s very possible though.
I keep adding new parts to my list. I bought a coil, module, carb kit and a fan belt that now stay permanently in the Jeep. I need to buy a spare fuel pump and rotor button.
You can tell the Jeep loves you. Breaks down so you can spend more time with your girl trick. 👍🏻👍🏻🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

Thanks for the info buddy, I picked up a module, coil , and a carb kit yesterday. I’m keeping them in the Jeep.

I have the spare module with me, next it acts up it’s going in. I appreciate all your help buddy.

Sounds good, I appreciate it!

Welcome aboard! I’m glad you enjoy the videos! It’s always fun cruising with a good dog in the Jeep.
Another great video!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Hi love watching . On old army stuff we would put a filter in front of the fuel pump. The rust particals would mess up the fuel pump.

lol I didn’t make you do it, but welcome to the club my friend! Now the fun begins! I’ve been trying to find a decent 2a on an off for a while.
Good shape for the shape it's in
It’s running great now. lol
Add hose clamps to your parts list.😊
I did, and I have put extra in the Jeep.

Hei I second the need to carry a spare control module and a rotor button.
I bought an extra module yesterday and some other necessities. I do need to buy a spare rotor button as well.
Vapor lock.

Later dude stay safe
Thanks buddy!
Not much way to outguess what can go wrong.. carry purty much what these folks are saying and hope for the best..

Who do I tell to watch if I'm the weird uncle that nobody likes?
lol I suppose anyone that will listen!
