Really unfortunate that the G series 843 has a grip that is slimmed down cork, smaller diameter. They have done this before. I cannot see any functional reason for making a cork grip slimmer on ultra light fly rods. It puts a bias towards small hands. Those of us with normal sized hands have to close our palm and fingers so much, it’s like gripping a pencil (not quite but you get the idea). Scott, please give us the same grip on all of the models within a series! Even the 883 has the larger diameter grip, why not the 843? My hands don’t change size just because I want to fish with a light or short fly rod.
My favorit is the GS 773-4., it is a fantastic small creek rod with a Barrio Smallstream #3 line.
the reel seat is micarta, phenolic resin on canvas layers. Heavier than wood and not so pretty, but impervious to elements and grippier when wet
Damn i love these short good reviews 👌👍 greeting from holland and tight lines!
Try the 8 foot 8 " 3 weight G2 - not the most accurate but a incredible wand for dry fly fishing & playing fish on long leaders & small dries...
I have the G2 (884-4)and am considering the new G series, is there a big difference? I would love to see a comparison between the two.

Ben this review is two years late! :)
MI-CARTA not MIR-CATA... and Jesus Ben, drink a glass of water. Watching you try to wet your mouth with saliva every 10 seconds is painful.
Haha! It's true!
