Terry, thank you for the videos that you have produced.
Though I am extremely familiar with air-cooled Volkswagen engines, your video of the 2 cylinder conversion is appreciated. I am looking forward to your series of videos based upon this engine configuration. I am certain that there is invaluable takeaway information unavailable elsewhere.
Your H5 build videos answers many questions of an Ultracruiser build, there is much crossover information.
Again, thank you for your time and the information.
    Respectfully,

I am considering picking up a rebuilt mosler 40hp half vw engine. It has mounting flanges cast into the case to be mounted from the back instead of on the sides of the case. Can I mount an engine off the firewall like that? Or should I stick with the side mounting like the engine bay was designed?

Very interesting this. I have no background in aviation but have been around aircooled Volkswagens all my life and have built a number of engines. With all due respect, this looks very sketchy to me. And with respect, I really mean it. I understand a lot of people have put a lot of effort into these engines. I also undrrstand you builders trust these things with your life. But there are a number of things that stands out to me as a VW engine guy as weird and if someone can explain - please do so.
    1. The 90 degree fittings where the oil cooler normally goes. To me, those look like a recipe for oil leaks and loss of oil pressure, especially in a high vibration application. No serious VW engine builder would exit and return oil that way. So why is it done like that in a situation where someones life depends on it?
    2. The 94 mm cylinder is used in the VW world only in situations where the trade off in engine life expectancy and reliability is acceptable. Like drag racing or weekend warrior cars. What do you ga guys do to make them keep their roundness over time?
    3. Those welds???
Again, no disrespect here. I am not here to bash or troll. I am genuinly intrigued by this contraption and looking for answers to the questions it raises.

What is the weight of this engine?
    What does it cost?
Any chance to put a turbo?
