Hey Oteil. It's Aaron (ex Roscoe guitars). I worked there when we built your bass. Been awhile. I'm sad to hear of the loss of your brother and Col. Bruce. I ran into Kofi randomly at the Atlanta airport once, again - years back. He remembered me from shows at Ziggy's in Winston Salem, nc and hanging out. We chatted for a bit and went on our separate ways. What an honor to have such an acquaintance. Those ARU shows are some fond memories for sure. Be well my friend. Peace.
Loved Ziggy’s. Those were the days. I saw Oteil with ARU in a restaurant in Raleigh NC in the early 90s. Knew no one (Jimmy, The Colonel, Oteil) but what a time.
@@desmorga6757 no joke brother, sry to say, but he played this amazing flute solo at this same show last year that will forever live in infamy, it's burned into my brain, I'll never forget. REST EASY BROTHER🕊️
7:45 - a Bob Ross Happy Accident?!?! no one even gave him “the look,” you know...the funny grin you give or receive onstage, when a seasoned string or keys player hits something sour or the drummer hits something out-of-place. it’s a funny thing between Bandees. Mr. James Brown (the Funkiest & The Hardest Working Man in Showbiz) used to Fine his players for these type occurrences. Seriously; he’d dock pay per instance. he was toughest on drummers, so guess which instrument mattered the most to Mr. Brown? He was a heck of a drummer. Oteil - Z. Steed is a pal of mine out here. I live down the street from his old house by the University & hated that I missed you on your last visit. Stay Cool, Dude.
I really don't get why you folks would slag Dead and Co on Oteil's channel of all places. Oteil is all about positivity, peace and humbleness. You really think he'd be playing with them if he wasn't having the time of his life? This version of Sugaree is beautiful but you all make it sound like every tune Dead and Co plays is dragging when that's so far from the truth. I've seen them 18 times and while some shows have been mellower than others.. This last year they've played some straight up barn burning shows that were rockin hard! Maybe you guys should take a lesson from Oteil in being humble and positive rather than coming at Dead and Co with so much negativity. Without them there would have been no Oteil and friends playing the music we all love!!
Phew. Check out Oteil and friends from this past Sunday the 30th at Brooklyn bowl. Holy crap did they tear the roof off the place they were so hot! The Cap is cool and all but to see them going at it in an average size club like brooklyn bowl was special to say the least.
It’s to bad it doesn’t have to be that way. I wish Bobby would relinquish some of his singing duties more to Otiel and let him do the Garcia / Hunter tunes
John K just mimics jerry. Why not just listen to the Dead? At least mayer brings his own style to the songs which keep em fresh. John K just plays jerry lines with jerry tone. Its creepy
