Hey dr. James. I heard you say that you don’t like keeping breeding birds in cages and I agree there. Now you’ve got a decent size loft but you still have trouble with fighting and birds getting kicked out of nests!!! My first year breeding pigeons ever and my loft is tiny by comparison and the fighting was absolutely impossible!!! Must have lost an entire first round of eggs!! I had no choice but to lock them up and tell them to focus on the job at hand...........and it worked. Took more time and more cleaning that way but finally some results!!! I got 2 pairs bred and hatched 🐣 and my final pair just hatched 🐣 on Friday, so I’ve finally completed a first round. All looking good and healthy. I built a new breeding station for the 3 pairs and individual boxes 34” x 40”. Now they’ll have lots of room and no more horsing around. Let me know how to send you a pic. I can’t figure out how to do it on UA-cam. Have a good day, all the best from Canada 🇨🇦 pigeon racers.
Hi Lou! Good to hear from you! Not having to worry about fighting and broken eggs is a great benefit of using individual breeding cages or pens. Wow, 34x40-your birds are set!! Sounds like a great setup! Glad to hear you are getting some youngsters now. You can message me on Facebook or Instagram @erotylid
Beautiful loft and pigeons. I lost around 76 pigeons due to my house burning down with all my loss here in Corpus Christi Texas. Best of luck to you you have beautiful birds, Tony B
@@RFRP Thank you very much. My daughter is autistic and we started with 7 pigeons and had them for a few years. We loved flying them around our area. A lot of people don't understand pigeons and the beauty of how great they fly. It's amazing how you can train them and their instincts are. We learn so much about what to feed them and what not to feed them. I can't wait to start up a new loft when I get a new house
There’s something very unusual about those two Bluebars at 1:07 they stand out from the others they are built like tanks two balls of solid muscle what line are they from, Leo Hermans?
Good eye, Jason! They are out of the same family of birds. The base is Aarden (out of Joe Nemelka’s famous Aarden Hen). That’s 836 and Bigboy. 836 is Bigboy’s half uncle.
My loft has 2 stall traps, one on of the other one, top one is for going outside and flying, the one on the bottom is for entering the loft, really makes training easier.
On that scale, maybe I have a slight preference for the longer/narrower option. Should make a meaningful difference either way, just a matter of personal preference. Great question!!
Thanks! Great question. I scrape the center of the loft floor daily, but put down cedar wood chips all along the perimeter which I change every few weeks.
Watch starting at minute 6:34 ua-cam.com/video/sJyj0z61Xl0/v-deo.html Even just one of these will suffice. I used only red grit (it has anise added to it) for many years just fine. Good luck and welcome to the sport!
Welcome to click on my head to see my automatic pigeon loft. My loft has automatic waterer and feeder, and individual lighting in each unit. The water container has its own valve to control the supplied water on or stop, and the feeder can provide paired pigeons with feed for more than ten days. The only thing that is not satisfied is that, the loft needs to be cleaned manually.
I think you are the first viewer to comment from Korea!! 🥰 Great to hear from you! I am breeding racing pigeons. The method shown hear to pair up the birds will work with any breed of pigeons.
Hello. For me it is sick that the breeder wastes time on such a trivial thing. If a young pigeon leaves the loft, it will enter it by itself without any help.
Looking for feed in Dayton Ohio. Pet stores around here just have dove food, hardware stores and know feed mills no longer selling pigeon feed. Anyone have any suggestions. Thank you.
@@RFRP Thank you so much. I will check that out tomorrow for sure. I have an excellent coop fully organized and equipped, electric the works. Crazy Cock Coop has been inactive for a few years but getting the pigeon racing birds itch again.
I had two white babies off her last year that I sold. I will probably have a round of late hatches off her that I will sell so do keep in touch. Thanks!!

Oh dang!! So sorry to hear about your loss! Hope you bounce back relatively quickly! 🙏🏼

That sounds like a great system!! My current system is not ideal
You have some nice youngsters!! I think I’m going to wait till next year to do one loft races. I hope it goes good for you.
Best of luck to you, and thanks for the well-wishes!!
Like those Aztec babies 😀
😍😍😍
Birds coming along nicely tons of ybs I see
Thank you! Really appreciate your support!
Your Birds look good as usual. This might be off topic but what size is your both flyer section again? (the first 2 section of your Loft). Thanks
They are about 4.5 ft x 7.25 ft ✅
@@RFRP thanks. What do you prefer for young birds, a long narrow 4x7 or deeper sections 5x6? I hope that make sense😁
On that scale, maybe I have a slight preference for the longer/narrower option. Should make a meaningful difference either way, just a matter of personal preference. Great question!!
I wonder what kind of grid you give them. Thanks for advise.
The grit mix I currently use includes red grit, Versele Laga seaweed, Jovati, magnesium carbonate, salt and red powder from vita king
Nice looking birds, but are those droppings just stay in the corner of their loft.?
Thanks! Great question. I scrape the center of the loft floor daily, but put down cedar wood chips all along the perimeter which I change every few weeks.
That’s a pretty amazing accomplishment to raise that kind of money, make sure you let us know the next time you do an auction
The racing pigeon community really came through on this one!!
