So sorry to hear about Nate 😢. My last piggy girl Cocoa passed with cancer. She had places all over her body and wasn't good for surgery. After having a sonogram and biopsy done she lasted for 3 days and passed the night of the third day . I 😢😢 and I still do from time to time. I know she is not suffering anymore but she was my little girl. My heart goes out to you Scott and all the piggies. ❤ Your videos and take care of yourself because the other piggies need you.
You help these creatures So well. If I see anyone who has guinea pigs on social media, I always recommend your website and tell them about your social media pages. Thankyou for caring so much, you really work so hard for everyone 💖
Thank you so much scotty for this video.. my Mama Bear has ouchie bumblefoot. but am doing my best to get her healed up as best as possible. thankfully shes young, only about 2 years old.
Many factors can lead to bumblefoot, of course making sure the bedding is clean and dry, they are able to move around as much as possible, and there are not other mobility issues. That said, antibiotics and anti-inflammatory medicine is the only way to really cure it. And then you must be diligent about soaking and wrapping using the methodology I explained in this video
@@ScottysAnimals perfect, will do. she has an amazing vet now. So i am confident she will be as good as new soon.. she doesnt like the wrappings.. but i told her "it wont be forever, just til your ouchie is all gone"...
Just got yesterday' About it at pastmart $24 Silver honey cream for my guinea pig bumblefoot do great swallow is slow down thank you very much you are my hero
Good advice for those who think the lamp is the solution for heating the piggies that are outside. Bf must hurt so so much 😢 always be on the lookout, thx Scotty .❤
Very good rundown of how to keep Bumblefoot under control. The closest any of our pigs has ever gotten were vivid pink and red front foot pads on one of our girls, who is very chunky, very lazy, and prone to sleep directly where she’s been peeing. we did a few weeks of soaks and cream on her front feet about a year ago and staved off what could have become open wounds, but never got to that point and still it’s never gotten as bad again as it was at that time.
Good video, Scott. I’m fortunate in that I’ve only had to deal with bumblefoot once, several years ago. This refresher had a lot of important info and I was unaware of the SSD cream. I’ll be sure to get some for my first aid kit. ⛑️ 🐾
@ScottysAnimals I think my piggy has bumblefoot. It's Sunday and the vet is closed so I found your video. a month ago she was spade (3yr old girl) and has been recovering. It seems new, its red and raw, not scabby. We immediately gave her a 24hr dosage (metacam) of the pain/inflammation meds from her surgery. We have soaked her back feet in iodine solution for over 5 minutes. Applied ointment and bandaged her feet. We have not started her on any antibiotics. She was running around perfect fine for the last 2 days until this morning. Your pigs seem not to be in pain, they eat, but our pig is not eating or drinking... maybe due to the pain. She has taken 2 large syringes of critical care and a couple smaller 1ml of water. No poop in 3 hours. We will change her bedding daily so its clean and dry. Vet visit tomorrow morning.
Thank you for providing detailed information on bumblefoot care and the medication and all the methods. Not only that, but how piggies react and how to deal with reactions.
I am glad you brought up the probiotic/benebac idea to accompany @3:39. Funny thing is yesterday, my cousin had to get some antibiotics for 2 ongoing issues and the pharmacist mentioned just that! She explained that generally, antibiotics tend to "wipe away" good bacteria along with bad (in the gut), and that is why it is important to use probiotics (esp. if you have tummy troubles when taking). Piggies are just like humans! Thank you for pointing it out! Also Pippy @3:07 is just too much. He is the cutest piggy on earth. Sorry, just had to say - back to important regularly scheduled Scotty programming. hehe
Also a good tip: USE VINGER BANDAGE to wrap the feets, its much easier. I used to put honey cream on the feet, cover that with normal bandages and tape (not to tight!) and then pulled the vinger bandage over it so the bandage wouldnt slip of the feet. you can pull the vinger bandage up high and then tape it around the leg area so that wouldnt slip either. Worked like a charm if you get the hang of it, (but then again if they have bumble feet you need to change the bandage everyday so you will get enough practice) Hope it helps somoene out!
Scotty, thank you sir. A new rescue boy is otw to my house from a vet where.he was dropped off by someone who saw his pen by a dumpster. My daughter is getting him for me. The vet treated his foot but I wont see until I get home. The vet said its awful. Thanks in advance for all the info Ill get started on that playlist right now.
My boy Pachas infection has healed finally after 6 months, but now he has a necrotic bit stuck in his paw trying to work its way out. Thankfully it doesn't seem to be painful anymore, but I know he's hoping to get his boot off soon (changed every day)
I dealt with bumblefoot one time, my favorite boy ever in my life chinny. He ended up getting surgery, both back feet. he kept ripping open the scaring. :l... till he finally got it in his head. You keep biting it open, you get wrap, you hate wrap lol. I think his was caused back then by being on hard flooring with newspaper. this was when i was a teen then out of high school. from then on i learned so much.

Just one of the many reasons why guinea pigs should not live outside

Hey, Scotty. How you holding up after Nate’s passing?

I have been watching die Nahfee treat Kleine. I am fond of Kleine because she is the oldest in her herd.

I wait 2 to 3 hours after antibiotic and feed a lot while on treatment. Works great. Keeps the gut moving.

Thats good to know about bumble foot my piggies dont have bumblefoot and their cadges are kept clean good video vickie napa california
It is also something that can come with age when limited mobility becomes an issue

also the soft cushion of the bandage makes it a lot more easier/fun for the hurt quinea pig to walk again
👍
