- Elon Musk created a firestorm of controversy after he liked an antisemitic post on his social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, calling it "the actual truth." Several major advertisers have announced they are leaving the platform, including IBM and Lionsgate. The White House also condemned Musk's comments. Nancy Cordes reports from Washington.

The term "antisemitism" is probably the most weaponized word in the English language. It makes criticism of _anything_ to do with Israel or jews impossible.

Not really. This is easily verifiable. X's PR is saying advertisers are coming back to X, it doesn't mean the ones who left are returning to X. Just look at X's quarterly reports for 2023, ad revenue is stagnant at an 11% decline from 2022. Content creation has gone from 31% of all internet content creation to 14.69%, the same as Pinterest. The only thing that is quietly happening is the Board of X plan to remove Musk.

I think antisemitism is awful and I understand sensitivities esp. now, but I want to stay as objective as possible and call out antisemitism where it is and where it is not. I see reactions against Musk in the anti-Musk campagne as part of the narrative that is pushed by mainstream media.

Any company that pulls its adds from X should be throwing up some big red flags for everyone else.
Every once and awhile I hear something about a legally bound fiduciary duty to maximize profits for company shareholders. The trained minions of the company that fails to do this should get SUED by the shareholders for not doing so. By pulling ads that could grow profits because of something tweeted, I should think shareholders have grounds for mega lawsuits. The lawyers are gonna have a great holiday. Cheers.

All i hear is "you can't be a person with an opinion or you're a racist"... said basically every news outlet and person with their own opinion and agenda and understanding of how they think the world should be ever. i don't think elon is the problem here, its more that no one can take even partial truths without just going "nope, that can't possibly be true".. but in all reality, what if it actual was. Guess what now universities and especially business courses are learning from one of the biggest advertising failures in decades. And, some other companies are realizing their mistakes, most recently, Victoria Secret. It's dangerous to leave common sense out and not ever question things or not critically analyze them and just think that because this advertising company has awards or this person went to etc. University they immediately know better.

New York Governor Kathy Hochul’s quarantine camp regulation that would allow the seizure and indefinite detention of anyone suspected of exposure to a communicable disease was restored on Friday by a decision of the New York Appellate Division’s Fourth Judicial Department.
Hochul’s regulation would allow public health officers to arrest people suspected of having been exposed to a communicable disease, which in the age of COVID means everybody at anytime, with no need for proof of infection, no hearing, no magistrate, and no legal counsel for the accused, no due process, all explicitly required by the quarantine law. The accused could be held for an indefinite period at the health department’s discretion contrary.
