    0:55, 3:40 I don't understand describing possessive pronouns by saying, e.g., "we (in V-nese) don't have objective (or subjective) pronouns", "toi remains toi", etc. The examples for "my cat" & "my Dad" both involve the use of "toi"--but this is clearly analogous to the use of "my" in English; and, all the examples seem to be "(something) of me" (or "...of Hoa", etc), which just relates to the order of the words (and adding "cua"). So I don't really see how Vietnamese is different from English in this respect; i.e., I don't get the significance of "toi remains toi" or "ban remains ban"--OF COURSE it does.

    • @popcraft2969
      @popcraft2969 6 років тому

      Tom Mullen The main idea of that part (if you still don't get it) is in V-nese, they don't convert the pronouns to anything. For instance, in English, "we" => "ours" and "us", "I" => "my" and "me", but in V-nese, it just remains the same. *Peace*

      Pop I. OK, I had to go back to Google to refresh my memory on objective, subjective, possessive pronouns (in English), and compare it to the vid. Thanks

      Yes. "Bạn" means "friend" or "you." But remember - we are using bạn in a general sense for this video. It is better to use the right pronoun, based on your relationship.
